Excerpt:

Basically, with streaks of talent, creativity, and sensitivity, fashion designers, as if influenced by Rumpelstiltskin, craft accessory and clothing sketches. They usually concentrate in one nature of accessory or garment such as women's or men's apparels, swimwear, lingerie, children's garments, handbags, and even shoes. They, sometimes, lead the groundwork of the creation and promotion of their creations.

Famous fashion designers prefer to be self-employed and they cater for the request of their clients. Some cater to high-fashion department stores or to specialty stores. They establish fashion statements by setting the colors, silhouette, and type of materials that are worn each season.

There are also some designers who are employed by manufacturers of clothes. These designers just adapt fashion statements set by other designers for the market. However, there are small manufacturers who just purchase or copy designs.

Both designers sketch unique garments and follow certain trends in fashion. Likewise, both need assistants who should get used to the fast-paced schedule of the fashion business...

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Worth The Money
What I liked about this book is it was concise and to the point. It took the reader step by step to explain how to put a fashion show on. Small things, such as preparing the models pay with names and only releasing them when all the clothing was checked in was something I hadn't thought about. I've put clothing in fashion shows and after the show the models leave before the retailers can get a chance to check their items in.

This was the first time that I put on a fashion show. I did not realize how much effort it took to put on a good show, but this book helped me come close to it.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to put on a real fashion show and is a novice.

1-0 out of 5 stars Huge price for a pamphlet (Not a BOOK!)

What a rip-off! If I could give zero stars, I would.

A $24.95 pricetag for this 78-page Fashion show pamphlet is ridiculous. I feel ripped off. It looks like it was put together on someone's home computer. The information is very basic. The photos are distorted. Save your money and don't waste your time. Check around the internet for articles and save the money on something useful.

Product Description
In Designing for Designers: Lessons Learned from Schools of Architecture, authors Jack L.
Nasar, Wolfgang F.E. Preiser, and Thomas Fisher examine the designs of 17 architecture
and design schools. They answer questions such as: How has architectural education
evolved and what is its future? Are architectural schools built with discernable
types of designs and what are their effects on those who experience them? What lessons
can be learned from evaluations of recently completed school buildings and what
guidance do they provide for the design of future ones? At the heart of this text lies
the proposition that we should design as if people matter and Designing for Designers
will make readers more aware of problems in architectural interiors and suggest ways
to make interiors work better for the building occupants. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cautionary Tales of Architecture Feeding on Itself
In simple terms, many buildings designed for schools of architecture by big-name architects have been monumentally ill-suited for such schools. They have instead become "statements" from the architects, which nobody really wants to hear. The students and faculty working and studying in buildings designed by designers have much to say, but far too often are not heard. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A day in the life of a high schooler
I loved a Matter of Attitude.I loved the colorful characters from her family members, school friends and those enemies we find in high school. Angela Jenkins is a good role model who sometimes make bad choices like we all do, but she learns her lesson and comes out on top.I highly recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Attitude, Attitude, Attitude...
A Matter of Attitude by Hayden is a look at what occurs when winning becomes everything. Fifteen year old Angela Jenkins feels she plays third string in her family. Her elder brother, Quick Digits, is eighteen and on his way to a musical career, and Angela feels he is their dad's favorite. Younger brother, Omar, is brilliant with excellent grades and the apple of his mother's eye. Angela feels she is the work horse who has spent the summer slaving away in her mom's restaurant. But once school starts, she is going to show them all. She will be in ninth grade and she is convinced she can become the director of her school's holiday fashion show. Because one thing Angela has and no one can compete with is her cutting-edge fashion sense. She has always been known for her eccentric style of dress and she is convinced that if she wins she will be on her way to fashion stardom.

Once school starts Angela discovers boys, especially the very cute JaRoli Spencer. As luck would have it, JaRoli is already taken. And it turns out his girlfriend is the very lovely and extraordinarily fashionable Karen Frasier. Karen is also interested in the coveted position of director. Immediately Angela makes up her mind that she is going to win, no matter what it takes. She is befriended by the school's bad girl, Shayla Mercer, who for a price convinces her she can get her elected. With Shayla's assistance and the wrong attitude, Angela's life veers off on a course she never intended. She is so focused on winning she cannot see how her actions could jeopardize others.

A Matter of Attitude is a fast-paced cautionary tale about how easy it is to get caught up in winning and how quickly situations can get out of control. I recommend this young adult title to all teen readers.
