More Fairy Tales
When will writers stop glossing over the world of modeling and start telling the truth. Yes, there are superstars, although they are kept at bay these days. Books need to tell young women more facts and less fantasy.

Stating the obvious
If you choose to buy this book, you can happily skip the first half of it. The majority of the book's content is case files from models. Most of this case file information seems to state the obvious, although it may useful to some readers in moderation. After reading one or two models' tales the book becomes painful to read - it is the same story told again and again. The book does offer relevant and useful information on modelling (if a little US centred) but you must be prepared to wade through the endless waffle to find it.

this book was really great and a worthwhile read if you truly know nothing about the buisness. the author is the editor of seventeen and tells you the stories of how she developed some models careers and she lets the readerknow that it is perfectly normal to get discouraged in this buisness andthat most of the top models in the industry struggled for years before theymade it "big" it is important to be educated about this buisnessbefore you start and this is a good book to look over before you get going. she gives you a list of all the reputable agencies and teels you about allthe different ways to get into the buisness weather it be by convention oragency or otherwise. the book is easy to read and understand. the diffeentsections are labeled and divided clearly.it was a very helpful book forme.and if you have the time it is defenitly worth the money! good luck

A good book for new models.
I have worked as a model for 7 years, in different parts of the world. So I have knowledge of the business. Why do I have this book? Well, the book was given to me as a present.

This book will be good for "new faces (a term used to describe a model who is just beginning)".

And Natasha covers everything there is to cover, -as usual.

Well Worth The Money
What I liked about this book is it was concise and to the point. It took the reader step by step to explain how to put a fashion show on. Small things, such as preparing the models pay with names and only releasing them when all the clothing was checked in was something I hadn't thought about. I've put clothing in fashion shows and after the show the models leave before the retailers can get a chance to check their items in.

This was the first time that I put on a fashion show. I did not realize how much effort it took to put on a good show, but this book helped me come close to it.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to put on a real fashion show and is a novice.

Huge price for a pamphlet (Not a BOOK!)

What a rip-off! If I could give zero stars, I would.

A $24.95 pricetag for this 78-page Fashion show pamphlet is ridiculous. I feel ripped off. It looks like it was put together on someone's home computer. The information is very basic. The photos are distorted. Save your money and don't waste your time. Check around the internet for articles and save the money on something useful.

An Amazing Candid Expose
I found The Truth on Modeling by Erin Pinckney to be an amazing and honest resourse for young hopefuls to gain insight into getting started.It is so difficult for beginners to know where to begin and Ms Pinckney tells it like it is. The so called "glamor" of the industry overshadows the fundamentals needed to get started and this author seems to have her hand right on the pulse.I recommend the book for any parent who has a child interested in a modeling career.

LOVED IT! Honest, realistic and not full of junk info...
The great thing about this book is that you don't have to sift through the makeup and photography and skincare sections(like some other modeling books)to get to the real information. This book is ALL info and no fluff. My mom bought it for me and I am glad that she did! I continue to refer to it as I try to enter the modeling industry, it's got some really good information.

I particularly like the fact that the model/author is not a "supermodel" and gives a unique and realistic perspective. A good book...read it:)

DEFINTELY WORTH READING, although a smaller book.
I enjoyed this book because I felt it provided me with some insight I wouldn't have otherwise. I think that the model who wrote it definitely was trying to impart some knowledge and protection to the beginner, via her own experiences. I particularly appreciated the listing of agencies.

I felt the book (although only 65 pages in all) did have some really great tips and info packed into those 65 pages. Although not a thick book, it's a good beneficial read - and at a very fair price compared to some other modeling books:) I hope this review helps some of you.

Truth on the runway -- but nowhere else
While the author may have plenty of experience on the runway, she is not particularly well versed in other aspects of modeling -- areas which offer far more rewards and latitude for the aspiring model than the runway. Her print and advertising experience is far to meager to offer advice as an 'expert' in the industry. Many of the 'facts' presented in the book are misleading to the model just starting out in this complex arena.

Avoid The Pitfalls: An Effective Approach for the New Model
I think the book is great, because it works like an outline for a new model and it is created by a working model.Amoung the items it offers are a guideline to industry standards, descriptions of a variety of types of modeling so you can see best where you fit in, listings of agencies, as well as tips and no-nonsense advice.It also sets forth interesting anecdotes describing pitfalls to avoid.You are walked through the process from the first time you are asked "has anyone ever told you that you should be a model" to your first booking.As a former model, I thought this book was very informative. ... This book would be a good reference for high school aged young women and men who are trying to consider what career to go into.As for an adult who wants to know other career options available in the beauty or fashion industry, outside of "wig stylist", "manicurist" or "shampoo girl" this book is not for you.
