Product Description
From time immemorial, humankind has tried to unocver the meaning of divining the future. While druids followed the stars and Greeks sought counsel from the Oracle at Delphi, the "spae-wives" of the Scottish highlands found the answers to life in the tea-leaf patterns in their cups. Lines of dust meant journeys, swans foretold of love, and snakes warned of disaster. These and other symbols were passed down from generation to generation. This work reproduces the writings of an anonymous Scottish seer who recorded the secrets of the ancient art of reading tea leaves, including an alphabetical list of the various signs and their meanings. It features illustrations of sample cups, and their interpretations show how to weave and balance the symbols together, transforming a cup of tea into the voice of the Fates. The book combines that manuscript with modern writings on the history and philosophy of foretelling the future. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reading Tea Leaves
Serious students of rhe occult will enjoy dipping into this rare and authentic treasure-trove of knowledge. It is a faithful reprint of what may be thefirst book of its kind, originally entitled "Tea-Cup Reading and the Art of Fortune-Telling by Tea- Leaves" by a Highland Seer.
I felt it most appropriate that this reprint hails from the UK, since this was the homeland of theoriginal anonymous author.
I was fortunate enough to have held an original copy in my own hands before it was (sadly) discarded and/or sold by my local library. So I can honestly testify as to its true replication of the original, of which I have retained photocopies.
Read this book, not only for the valuable knowledgehanded down from seer to seer and back to our more mystical past, but also for its intelligently written and informative introduction. In the intro, James Norwood Pratt gives a history of divination told from the view point of one who has intimate involvement and experience with divination and the occult. Also, he includes valuable tips for reading the tea leaves.
The Afterword by John Harney tells of the experience of the two men who had decided to reprint the book and of their love and respect for the original, in which I have shared firsthand.

4-0 out of 5 stars A valuable tool for those on their spiritual path.
Stone People Medicine - A Native American Oracle, written by Manny Twofeathers, is a book and card set. Manny explains how the Stone People came into his life and what they mean to him now.

Manny Twofeathers grew up in southern Arizona in a little town called Ajo (A-ho). He is of Aztec descent and was raised in the "old ways'. He writes how his interest in rocks came at an early age in life. The touch of the rocks, the colors, the shapes, the sense of aliveness he felt in them was a fascination that turned into a lifelong spiritual awareness and guidance that he is able to help others with.

Manny gives a brief history of the relation between Native Americans and stones and how the stones are used, what they symbolize, and their energies. He mentions the importance of three stones that Native peoples held in high regard. These were pipestone, flint, and obsidian. As with all other work, the quarrying of stones such as these three is done with prayer. Manny explains the reasons for this in his book.

Stones have been on Earth for billions of years. They have gathered wisdom and knowledge and Manny discusses this in detail. Manny believes that Creator gave him knowledge to help others through understanding the wisdom and healing powers of the Stone People. He explains how the idea of painting the special stones with animals came to him and the power that each animal gives to the holder of the stones.

The set includes ten cards that have the symbolic images of the animals on them. An explanation and tips on how to use the cards is well-written. Manny goes over the spiritual aspect of using the stones to help guide one on their path in life.
The spirituality of the Stone People and the person who asks for their help is of the utmost importance. This is a spiritual tool that Manny has created with the gift from Creator to help others.

When one uses a spiritual tool like this it is important to rely on prayers and the spiritual helpers, the animals. This is a well-written book, easy to read, and a valuable tool for those on their spiritual path.

5-0 out of 5 stars SIMPLE, WELL WRITTEN AND VERY INSIGHTFUL!
I have used many different tarot card sets for myself and on others. The simplicity of Manny Twofeathers' Stone People Medicine with 10 cards is so simple, yet incredibly accurate. Even the "suggested" outcomes of the various directions for each stone, is absolutely right on. Whether I choose a stone card each day for guidance (like a rune), or if I do a simple layout of the 5 directions for a weekly insight - it is incredibly accurate.I recommend this for anyone that has trouble remembering the significance of various tarot card sets. His book is also very interesting and insightful. I found information about stones that I hadn't found anywhere else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wasted BOOK
Frist, there are 10 cards/stones not 12. The author gives no information as to the positions of the layouts he uses-no definations for the positions of the medicine wheel reading, and the author does not support this book, he won,t answer email or phone calls(disconnected)local new age shops cant get their orders filled for stones because there is simply no response for the author-the publisher is not much help either.Dont waste your time with this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stone People Medicine
I found the book to be incredible. It was a simple method, informative and definitely put a different perspective I had never seen before. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in getting insight from the Native Spiritual perspective. The packaging itself is worth the price. A beautiful cigar-type box, looks like it is wrapped in leather - very nice. Excellent, from cover to cover.

1-0 out of 5 stars not good
This work is NOT based on a system similar to the tarot or the I-Ching, it was made up by the author, a fact he mentions in the introduction.

The final page notes that one can buy stones from the author for [price] plus postage. What a [....]This type of book is precisely the reason why people don't respect new age theories. ... Read more

Edgar Cayce, America's best-documented psychic, predicted a shift of the Earth's poles sometime between 1998 and 2001. In this book, geologist William Hutton compares this prediction with the latest geophysical research findings, which appear to show that Cayce's prophecy is on the verge of coming true. An entire section focuses on what destroyed the lost continent of Atlantis and the possibility that portions of it are rising again! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Timing Was Off, But Just By A Few Years
People need to re-read this book and simply mentally erase the 1998-2001 dates and instead insert the words "soon" and "quickly forthcoming" and other near-future tense phrases.

Peak Oil. Resource wars. Mass species die-offs. Wacked out weather. World wide political turmoil. Phase of massive sun-spot activity. Economic bubbles going bust. Fanaticism of every flavor imaginable. Pre-emptive military aggressions. Corporate facism. Social breakdown. Pole shift.

Swimming pools, movie stars.

All we need now is a plague of GMO frogs.

Wackos are often merely sane visionaries attempting to speak wisdom to madmen who wrongly think themselves as sane.

2012 is quickly approaching. Prepare thyself.

2-0 out of 5 stars help the axis of evil has shifted!!!
the problem wiht psychic prediction is that they can often be a bit 'symbolic'. Maybe Cayce was getting his metaphors mixed and was forseeing the drastic change in political climate from the 'axis of evil? shiftin!!!.
i guess it keeps me entertained!

i don't need a psychic to tell me that. But if you need one apparently the next opportunity to be proved right is in 2012.

1-0 out of 5 stars The sky is falling!
According to this fascinating, and well-researched book, the planet Earth is about to suffer a shift in the axis of its rotation, which will cause catastrophic damage. Worst of all, this shift is unavoidable, and will occur BEFORE the end of 2001.

Oh...wait a minute...never mind.

On second thought, don't buy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unprecedented Analysis of Cayce's Earth Change Readings
In this book, author William Hutton analyzes Edgar Cayce's startling psychicpredictions for coming earth changes. As a degreed geologist and student ofCayce,I found the author's careful analysis of earth changereadings the most complete and scientific ever documented.Cayce spoke of upheavals in Utah, Nevada, and southern California which conform to what wenow know about seismo-tectonics in these areas.Thisinformation wasdeveloped by geoscientists years after Caycegave his "readings"for the western region.

Some of Cayce's more catastrophic predictionssuggest that "Los Angeles, San Francisco, most all of these will beamong those that will be destroyedbefore New York even."Under"most all of these" apparently vulnerableplaces Huttondescribes what can happen to the cities of the northwesternstates, likeSeattle and Portland, if Earth's tectonic plates suddenlyaccelerate intheir movement in response to a pole shift. Here again, theauthor drawsupon the latest geophysical information to explain how suchpredictionsare not only possible, but probable, should Cayce's pole shiftoccur.

Possible physical, mental, and spiritual causes of potential Earthchangesare covered as well. This book is perhaps the most thoroughanalysis of Cayce's earth change readings ever written and is well worth acareful read by anyone curious about the psychic's predictions for ourplanet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Scientist Says We Are At The Brink Of A Pole Shift
According to this book, the many Earth changes that were predicted in Cayce'spsychic readings will be occuring soon (before the end of 2001).They willbe due to the beginning of a shift in Earth's poles.Mr. Huttonbelievesthat the poles cannot shift more than about 10 degrees, but thatthemechanism of pole shift will be able to move units of the crust of theEarthup and down, to the point of causing parts of Atlantis to rise offthe Eastcoast and parts of Lemuria, another "lost continent,"to rise in the Pacific. He refers to evidence from modern geology studiesthat indicate that bothcontinents once existed. The author carefullydocuments Cayce's record ofpast successful predictions of Earth changes, including earthquakes inCalifornia. Some of the predictions soundextreme, by historical standards. But they are fascinating nonetheless. Imagine part of New York beingsubmerged, San Francisco and Los Angelesdestroyed, and the greater portionof Japan submerged beneath the Pacific. The spiritual answers to such eventsare treated also by Hutton in thisinteresting and informative book.Onealso is forced by Hutton to thinkabout how we humans, as spritual beings whohave fallen asleep inmateriality, may be hastening our own demise here atthe beginning of anew millennium, and what role esoteric teachings mighthave in ourmodifying the worst Earth change events. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Not just another 'improve your work-life' book
I would recommend this book both to those who work in an office and those who work from home.

I bought the book at the recommendation of the author, after meeting her at Witchfest International 2004 in London. Once you read past the slightly American terminology (it was written for the American market, I think), this book has a lot of useful information. I find it useful particularly for those moments when I have been asked to explain why I work in a certain way, because that way appears to generate the right sort of results. There is a good level of humour involved, so that the subject matter does not come across as too heavy, or, for that matter, too weird. The suggested exercises are not too complex, which meant that I was more likely to give them a go. Those chapters which referred to topics with which I was unfamiliar have provided a decent grounding, which I can take further if I so wish. The appendices are fairly comprehensive for the subject matter covered in the book.

All in all, a very interesting twist to the usual 'improve your work life' type of book. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars born yesterday?
I am a huge fan of reincarnation books (eg the amazing Journey of Souls and the beautiful Northumberland Dreaming) and have done a little past life regression via hypnosis myself. but this along with the other books in the series i bought, are not impressive at all. atlantis, creation, his thoughs on the future - sorry, its just junk.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fascinating metaphysical journey.
Born Many Times is both the title of George McMullen's fifth book, and the name of the shaman spirit who provided the information to McMullen.Born Many Times, the being, relates details of his past lives, describes theextra-terrestrial beings walking among us now, and offers a glimpse of ourfuture.McMullen, trained as an archaeologist, is "an intuitiveperson who has developed the ability to see scenes from the past when Iwish to do so, to communicate with persons who are no longer in body and tohear and see their life stories as they unfold." Prior to Born ManyTimes, three other Native Americans related their stories to McMullen. They're the subjects of his prior books: Red Snake, Running Bear, and TwoFaces.(All three books are available from Hampton Roads.)He made hisinitial contact with Born Many Times while working with Two Faces. Born Many Times enjoyed many earthly lives.Among others, he was acompanion of Alexander the Great, Cleopatra's tutor, and contemporary ofJesus. He describes how men first lived in caves, surviving on what theycould kill.He tells how they learned to farm and how jealousies developedbetween those who had plenty of food and those who did not.Mankind has along history of building great civilizations and then destroying them. He maintains that most civilizations were rebuilt with the help ofextra-terrestrial beings, who provided the necessary technologicalknow-how. These beings have not ever, and do not, intend any harm tohumans. They wish only to help us.Born Many Times offers somepredictions for the future, but cautions "man can change his future,so therefore mankind has not really made his future yet."Nevertheless, unless changes are made, certain things appear likely tooccur. For example, people must learn to care more about environmentaldamage if we are to survive. Even so, there will be "food shortages. . .war and destruction."He later says "there has to be bettersharing of world resources."Born Many Times is an"intriguing journey through a multitude of lives, making us behind-thescenes witnesses to unfolding dramas of the past . . . and future." It's a fascinating journey, and one that will challenge the beliefs of manyreaders.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for
This book more than met my expectations. I have to admit that it was exactly what I was looking for and didnt expect to find. I already know what mix of three character types from the book, that I am, and in what order - I just never knew very much about what it meant. My parents were taught this system in the 1960's and 70's, and as a child, I absorbed alot of it, but what I knew, was from a childs perspective. My Dad was so excited when he saw my copy of this book, that he asked me to order him a copy too!

The great thing about this book is that you dont need to know anything about Psychology to understand it. It's a simple practical method for getting to know yourself and others.

The book is about five character types, Muscular, Thoracic, Cerebal, Alimentive and Osceous. People are usually a combination of three types. This book is well laid out and easy to read, with lots of diagrams and some dated photo's in the back section. It's full of information about each type and how they handle things, their physical characteristics and how they interact with the other types. Having lived this information for over 40 years now, I know that the author's were onto something.

Some of the language is dated, but this doesnt detract from the information, its all here, warts and all. It's a really good tool for looking into the dynamics within families, work places, teams etc, or even just for fun. It explains five different people can witness the same event and all experience something totally different.

I highly recommend it to anyone who really likes working with people.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't scry for me
Decades ago, I took classes and hypnosis at the Fort Worth Institute of Hypnosis. One of the courses was on Crystallomancy. However, we did cover several other subjects that are in this book. We dealt with past lives, out of body experiences, etc.

I have a hard copy of this book in my library near my crystal ball mounted on a black velvet cloth. I still periodically dabble in scrying for the fun of it. You will find it easy to do and quite addictive.

For such a small book, this is packed with a lot of great information, some of the practical some of that informative but all of it useful especially if you are watching movies that tout any kind of psychic phenomena or capabilities. It is divided into easy to read chapters dedicated to the different skills and clarifies terminologies.

If you find yourself reading books by Sax Rohmer, Alice Hoffman, or the like, you will want to read this book first. It is even useful for such movies as "Vibes" (1988) with Cyndi Lauper.

I also keep an electronic version to refer to when I am on the go.

An interesting little tome on the art of learning psychic abilities -most fascinating to me was the chapter on crystal gazing, which I always found a little hokey (maybe I've just seen too many gypsies doing it on bad Hollywood movies), but the science behind it is really quite interesting.A fun little book to have and to read. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, yet profound
In the tradition of great Chinese philosophies such as Taoism and Confucianism, this little book is profound in its simplicity. The author has selected passages from the I Ching and then added his comments and insights on each saying. He has accompanied these with delightful Chinese ink drawings done in the Zen style.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring!
This book is full of inspiring wisdom to live by! This tiny book is the perfect back pocket companion. I use this book daily!

2-0 out of 5 stars A prosaic and outdated approach to the I Ching
The guidance of whoever it is that styles him (or her) self as "wu wei" (the well-known Chinese ideogram for unforced action in living, most famous in Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, and which never, by the way, appears in the I Ching itself) has become popular for reasons that still escape me. Perhaps he has something to say to Westerners who are new to the Tao and to the I Ching, with his rather simplistic voice and direction, or perhaps he strikes a resonant chord with his practical examples and earthy language, which are indeed admirable in his approach. However, the point is that there are far more insightful and engaging translations, commentaries, and expositions on the I Ching available. So if you wish to use the oracle as a guide to living a successful human life by learning to work from the inner plane of being so that no effort or struggle is required on the outer plane (which is, after all, the essence of "wu wei"), I would recommend Carol Anthony's work in particular (her "Guide to the I Ching" is best for those new to the I Ching, and her newer "I Ching: The Oracle of the Cosmic Way", written with Hanna Moog, for those with past experience with the I Ching). Wu wei's work, however, is simplistic and derivative, and can only really serve the curious and the superficial, for this writer's approach to the I Ching is rather on the scale of a tabloid newspaper's daily horoscope is to astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
This is a superb collection of insights taken from the I Ching. I have enjoyed all of Wu Wei's works on The Book of Changes, but this is my favorite. Many times, I have randomly turned to a passage and found that it helped me with my current predicament. I highly recommend this book.

The value of numbers may be used in a myriad of ways - Sometimes in numerology such as fortune telling other times as sacred symbolism. I found this to be a very helpful and insightful book dealing with the significance of numbers pertaining to the system of the Kabalah.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple Numerology
Simple Numerology by Damian Sharp is an excellent book for newcomers to numerology.Sharp begins with an introductory explanation of numerology, saying that it "provides us with a means of understanding our own individual cyclical patterns and personal qualities."

He is concerned only with Western numerology in this book, which is based on the teachings of Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher who maintained that numbers were the basis of everything, including relationships.

Important numbers are the name number, which reveals outer nature; birthpath, which indicates destiny; persona, which tells how others perceive you; and soul number, which is inner destiny. He also discusses the personal year number, the pinnacles, and challenge numbers.

Each number is easy to determine.

Sharp devotes the bulk of the book to explaining the significance of each number and how individuals can use that information in decision making.

A final chapter describes compatibility between numbers, as an aid to successful personal and business relationships.

Simple Numerology is a part of Conari Press' Simple Wisdom Book series.Simple Numerology is Sharp's third book in that series; he's also won awards for other writing.Novices will find Simple Numerology easy to understand and enlightening.Within minutes they will have new insight into their personalities and lives.

Product Description
Metaphysics has been my profession for the past seventeen years. Prior to that, as I studied and learned, I witnessed others trying to fit new ideas into old concepts. Instead of seeing the New Age seekers come together with one mind, I began to see them being divided by their expanded philosophies, with intolerance building. This emotion, intolerance, is in my opinion one of the greatest hindrances to the evolvement of mankind.

I began to search for the threads of sameness, not diversity, to show that the various philosophies were not so different from one another. I found that most differences were semantics, the label or name we used. We adopted an iron-clad rule in my business establishment that philosophical thought, no matter how different it might appear, was to be honored as long as it harmed none. This has given all of us, workers and seekers, the opportunity to broaden our understanding.

Thru the years I realized that neither creationists nor evolutionists were wrong. It was only that we were not seeing the whole picture. This book attempts to show both views are correct; that reincarnation is a fact; that there is an ultimate state of non-physical being; that there is both a masculine and feminine energy guiding mankind; that physical man on Earth receives help from advanced as well as non-physical beings; and that all of this was known and recorded in ancient times in the days of Thoth. Further, that this knowledge is our heritage as well as our legacy; and that Cosmic Cycles of Time affect our knowledge and level of understanding concerning the true nature of man. It further attempts to bring together the New Age community by showing that we are on the same path, even if we don't think so at times.

My hope is that it will strike a note of truth in all who read it, especially general New Age, Christian, and those professing no particular philosophy but who have an interest in what life is all about.

I have spent my entire life searching for answers. At this point in space-time, most knowing seems to be coming from within. I have not attempted, nor do I have the ability, to supply empirical proof. Those who read this book will find their proofs, acceptance or denial within their own being based on where they are in their own personal evolution.

It pivots around Thoth's teachings and also acknowledges that there is a feminine aspect to creative energy working with the masculine aspect of creative energy.

Christians who have expanded their belief system may find answers to some of their unanswered questions.

Those who float between Eastern and Western philosophies and have become confused might find some clarification.

Those locked into a narrow religious view, not accepting evolution nor reincarnation as a possibility, will probably be disturbed by its implications.

Anthropologists and scientists will probably take issue with the family tree and theory that the whole human race was genetically engineered, all the way back to Homo Habilis.

Even though it refers to Astrology in a general way, and is not intended to be a dissertation on the subject, astrologers might find some interesting concepts on the cycles of time.

Ufologists searching for reasons behind the phenomenon will be able to obtain a broader view of the underlying purpose for these visitations.

We are all on a quest for truth. This book is the result of my own personal quest, and I am honored to share it with you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cycles of Time
We live in a technically-advanced world, and because of this, we tend to believe we are wiser than those who lived many years in the past. Jerry Issa, in her book, Living In The New Age Again, provides evidence the ancients possessed a wisdom far greater than modern humans which she exemplifies though the "Emerald Tablets of Thoth." According to the Lemurian Scrolls, cosmic and earthly time cycles go through four ages: Golden, Silver, Bronze and Dark. What is rare and exciting is that the Cosmos and Earth are both currently emerging from their own Dark ages and are on the verge of entering new Golden ages together. Issa says, "If this is indeed the case, it will have a momentous impact on human evolution." This book contains much information worthy of closer study.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Broader View of Creation
I found Living in the New Age Again (A Journey Through the Corridors of Time) to be exactly that: a new and much broader look at time. I have been looking at time as working inside the framework of the precession of the equinoxes, or the zodiacal year of 24,000 years. This book has caused me to back up and view much longer cycles as known and recorded in ancient times in Egypt and India.Just as we measure our year by the orbiting of our planet around our sun, and the zodiacal year by the precession, the ancients measured the orbit of our solar system around the galaxy's central sun and even the galaxy's rotation around the great center of the universe. They even measured the fantastically long cycles of the creation, expansion and dissolution of creation in the greatest cycle of all. I also found a stimulating primer on meditation and connecting with the universal conciousness. The author writes from a lifetime of experience in truthseeking and spiritual growth. ... Read more

Product Description
Astrology, sacred psychology and reincarnation come together seamlessly in the hands of two of the world's premier metaphysical astrologers. Jeffrey Green's work "mirrors the eternal realities of the soul," according to the leading Danish astrology magazine STJERNERNE. Sting calls Steven Forrest's work "as intelligent and cogent as it is poetic." Based on the transcripts of a series of workshops that Green and Forrest gave together, this book pushes the ancient symbols of astrology to new heights of insight, lucidly and compellingly showing us how the soul's long history is reflected in the birthchart. Beneath the seeming randomness of life, there is a clear and meaningful order. MEASURING THE NIGHT provides the Rosetta Stone for unraveling it. The lecture format is warm, personal and informal, with lots of audience interaction. Forrest and Green team up to analyze the chart of a workshop participant volunteer, just as they would that of a client who had come for a reading. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
This is the best book I have ever read on Astrology. How refreshing!I had stopped reading or really being interested in Astrology, until my daughter recommended this book to me.It is a good thing to know that old forms are being explored for new content. With this approach, Astrology can be a really powerful tool which will aid many to a deeper understanding of self in relation to this life.Hooray!!

5-0 out of 5 stars food for thought
This book kept my interest from start to finish.Steven Forrest is one of my favorite authors and this book was no exception. It is provocative and thoughtful. This book is made up of transcripts from a conference. You really feel like the authors are right there talking to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Measuring the Night
This is chock full of profound astrological insights delivered through the vehicle of the virtual seminar. The reader actually feels like they were among the privileged few who attended these landmark sessions.

Steven Forrest is a masterful speaker and author. He is also a champion of the cause of evolutionary astrology- one of the best tools any seeker on a spiritual path can access to discover their soul's intent.Measuring the Night forwards this effective technique through the collaboration of these two innovative astrologers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Five Stars Aren't Enough
These two books, Measuring the Night Vols. 1 and 2, are some of the best that astrology has to offer. They're great for beginners as well as experienced astrologers. Forrest's and Green's personalities and ideas shine through, and what ground-breaking ideas they are! Here are two people saying that WE are in charge of our destinies, that WE can make the choices thatdefine our lives. Simple, but not simplistic: easy to read, hard to do.

2-0 out of 5 stars A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!
I remember being very excited when I heard that Steven Forrest and Jeff Green were teaming up to write an astrology book together--well, at least, to put together a two-volume collection of their seminar transcripts! What a let-down!With the exception of a few tid-bits of interesting information, most of the material contained within volume one of this book is worthless--at least to me.And it's a shame, because Steven Forrest is such a great astrological author. As for Jeff Green, although his Pluto book is pretty impressive, I've never really LIKED him as an author--too pompous, and way to wordy! Why Steven Forrest ever decided to team-up with this guy I'll never know!Save your money, folks, and pass this book by.Oh, by the way:stay away from volume 2, because it's even WORSE! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars always by my side
I have read and flipped through MANY Tarot Books, and I own close to 100 of them. In fact, I never miss a Tarot book unattended: but how many of them really STAY with me, for day-to-day use, helping me to uncover the sometimes hidden message of the cards? TAROT DYNAMICS is one of the two books I use every day, several times a day.

The book has a unique system combining numerology and Tarot, which assigns a number 1-78 to each of the cards. it takes a bit of time to remember but it is way easier than I thought it would be! Another wonderful and highly practical feature of the book is KEYWORDS for each 1-10 number, suit and each court line (i.e. a keyword for the Suit + a keyword for Queens in general: Emotional/Charisma =Queen of Cups; Challenging/Conflict=5 of Swords, etc.) The descriptions of cards are so complete that you can read any spread, and indeed, use ANY deck of your choice: the book aids you to find the core meanings of the basic elements and built your Tarot knowledge and experience on this solid foundation.

Tarot Dynamics gives you a practical and no-nonsense way to interpret your cards in appliance to the daily, mundane life. It is especially important for a Tarot practitioner who does not have inclinations to deal purely with metaphysical and esoteric explorations but wishes to aid herself in daily choices, see what is happening in her private and social life and have a glimpse of the future, as for herself so for those she is interested in.

The book has sections on Good versus GREAT reading; Reading for Yourself and for Others, Interpreting Cards Combinations and a very useful section on spreads.

The author Anna B. Cook is a very passionate Tarot Professional and Teacher with 30+ years of international experience under her belt. Visit her website in progress at www tarotdynamics dot com to get a taste of the book: she generously shares A LOT of practical information there and new sections are in progress!

Tarot Dynamics book is always by my side when I am doing readings for myself and for others. I could not recommend it highly enough for both, professionals and beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars I hated this book - at first. Now I LOVE IT
At first glance, this appears to be yet another "what each card means" book that boringly goes through each individual major and minor, giving you a one page description of standard Rider-Waite-Smith cards. But then, as you read through the pages, you realize that the author has used a quick and easy system to summarize the four suits plus added her own spin on numerology for the minors. Then she's broken down each court card into personalities, and what they bring to the spread.

Now her numerology definitions are different from standard other texts you see here on Amazon, however hers FIT IN BETTER to tarot spreads. So you combine the "number 4" definition with a "WAND" - and thus your summary of that card.Similar approach to "Tarot Reading Secrets DVD" by Dean Montalbano.

What really stands out is how the definition changes based upon other cards in the spread. So if there's good cards surrounding it, there's an enhanced effect, however a group of bad cards and you get a negative spin on the combo-definition.

The only issue I have is how washed out the majors definitions are.You also need to pickup "Tarot Wisdom" which is 350 pages of discussions on majors, and only $16 here on amazon. But for the minors and courts - TAROT DYNAMICS CAN'T BE BEAT.

5-0 out of 5 stars From A New Perspective
Anna Burroughs Cook has written an amazing book - easy to follow, easy to understand, devoted to relating the cards to day to day life. She has done this by taking the esoteric out of the picture, focusing on five simple keywords to help the Tarot student read the cards with accuracy and ease.

Any deck can be used with this book, with or without imagery. In her introduction, Anna shows students how to develop their own keywords for each card, with a caveat to memorize the characteristics of each of the five Tarot suits (the Major Arcana being regared as the fifth suit). Anna defines these five characteristics as:

Major Arcana - Karma (cause and effect)
Wands - Change
Cups - Emotion
Swords - Challenge
Pentacles - Ambition

There is an FAQ with questions such as: "Isn't it supposed to mean something when the picture ont he Tarot card is upside down?" and "All my cars were terrific. Why didn't anything good happen?"

Each card is presented with a black and white scan, a description of the card, what the card is with encouraging cards around it, what the card is when the situation itself or the cards around it are challenging, a tip for reading the card in a reversed position, what the card means, how it appears "At your best.", and how it appears "Under more stressful conditions."

At the end of the book are ways to interpret One Card and Three Card spreads, the traditional tne card Celtic Cross spread, and a Horoscope spread.

I highly recommend this book to new students, as well as those who have been reading Tarot for a while. This is a new way of looking at the cards - a way that will give fresh perspective, and a good connection to everyday life.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME! BUY THIS BOOK!
Without a doubt, this book is the best tarot book on the market (I should know, I own about 20). Not only is it easy to read but it opens up a plethora of avenues in which to utilize the tarot cards. From personal reflectionsand support, to seeking guidance and answers for others, this book will walk you through an easy to follow and comprehensive way of working with the tarot.

The novice and most experienced tarot lovers will enjoy this down to earth book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The right place to learn Tarot
A wonderful companion for the neophyte tarot reader, and a pleasure to use for the more experienced, Anna Cook's first book is a useful, useable, and versatile tool.
The explanations are clear and concise, the spreads easy to use and understand. Because the book can be utilized with whatever deck the reader is comfortable using, it becomes a personal aid to the reader.
If you wanted to explore tarot without the mumbo-jumbo in a clear, easy to understand format...and yet without losing depth of meaning and clarity...here is a wonderful addition to your library.
