5-0 out of 5 stars The Tarot according to Ouspenski
This book from the Russian-born Ouspensky on the meaning of the images of the Tarot was written early in his career (during which he popularized interest in the occult in the early 20th century with his own ideas -- as in Tertium Organum in 1912 -- and the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff in the posthumous 1949 book In Search of the Miraculous) and uses the Waite-Smith pictorial deck as his basis. Ouspensky's work is always original and this is no exception - a short, interesting glimpse of Tarot symbolism from a unique point of view.

5-0 out of 5 stars example
It is not a statement about symbols. These are his personal pathworkings. If one meditates on a major arcanum, there may also be a path to follow, necessarily different from that of Ouspensky, by virtue of being a different person.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Trying to Impress
Written to sound impressive and as if relating to occult but it is just beating around the bush and telling you that there are numerous ways of interpreting the symbols...So how are you going to interpret the symbols?Just whatever way you feel then.

This book is unusable. If you want to know about reading tarot, you can forget about learning from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tarot like you never thought of it
The pack of 78 cards is a very intriguing one. From its foretelling reputation (various authors claim that the whole ancient knowledge is coded in them) over its abridged playing version of Tarok (22 cards of Arcana Major in altered look plus 32 "normal" cards). They are also discussed by famous occultist Ouspensky.
The presentation is near perfect. He tells us enough to feel the occult meaning of symbols and almost in the same time states that symbolism only remains symbolic as long it is not clearly defined. At that time symbol convert into a character (of alphabet), which loses its original message.
So there is always something hidden in symbolism, that can be interpreted one or another way around. It is up to interpreter, who has the knowledge and experience to understand this symbolism. Not for every mortal, but interesting to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A new understanding of the tarot
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a new view of the tarot. It deals with a very occultist point of view, and while there are literally an infinite number of ways to look at the tarot, this book shows you a whole new way. The book states it in a way that I never could, so I'll quote you a passage to let it speak for itself: The Devil: ..."I close the triangle, the other two sides of which are Death and Time. In order to quit this triangle it is necessary to see that it does not exist." I would suggest this little volume for anyone searching for the deeper meaning of the Tarot. ... Read more

Product Description
By Winston Wu, founder of SCEPCOP - The Scientific Committee to Evaluate PseudoSkeptical Criticism of the Paranormal (www.debunkingskeptics.com), a coalition created to counter the misinformation and fallacies of CSICOP - Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal - and other paranormal debunkers masquerading under the guise of "Skepticism" such as James Randi, Michael Shermer, etc.

Mr. Wu was the 1st back in 2000 to write a comprehensive point-by-point debunking of the standard arguments of PseudoSkeptics and Paranormal Debunkers. It was hailed by the Parapsychology community as a groundbreaking work, the first of its kind and much needed, by noteworthy Parapsychologists such as Dr. Gary Schwartz, Dean Radin, Stanton Friedman, etc.

Mr. Wu has been debating the pseudoskeptics since 1997 and is well versed in paranormal evidence. As such, he is very astute at pointing out the ways in which the pseudoskeptical criticism fails to account for the evidence and therefore does not hold up. He brilliantly explains the difference between "true skepticism" and the original meaning of the word vs. the "pseudoskepticism" masquerading as rationality, critical thinking, science today, which in reality has nothing to do with skepticism and more to do with spin, thought suppression and control of information.

This book contains the latest version of Mr. Wu's Treatise. It is a superb compendium of rebuttals to the pseudoskeptical arguments which are still being used today.

For doubters and those wanting to learn about the case for paranormal and psychic phenomena, Mr. Wu presents the evidence solidly, from anecdotes and experiences, to scientific research as well as common sense and deductive reasoning.

It is a great work by a champion of truth and open minded skepticism, as well as an eloquent philosophical dissertation. All in all, a must read for the truth seeker and paranormal researcher.

Author and Radio Host of UnknownCountry.com, Whitley Strieber, writes of Mr. Wu's treatise on his website:

“Winston Wu has now written an essay that brilliantly and decisively rebuts the general skeptical arguments against the paranormal. This is among the best essays ever written on this subject, and deserves extensive study. The essay carefully moves through the entire skeptical lexicon of arguments, rebutting each in turn." ... 5-0 out of 5 stars About time !!!
For way to long the fearful hypocrites who ludicrously and dishonestly call themselves "skeptics" have had the childish arrogance to call anything they did not understand or anyone who had an insight they disagreed with as phonies and liars and much worse names as well. This book is more than just informative, it is the clarion call to debunk the debunkers. For several decades the forked tongued fearful professional pseudo skeptics such as the not so amazing failed magician James Randi, and his lackey Michael Shermer, publisher of the falsely named Skeptic magazine, and their goofy deluded followers, have dispensed their agenda to the unwitting. The truth is a most powerful weapon, this book is over flowing with what the pseudo skeptics fear most, the truth. READ IT !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reading
Well written and hard hitting, this book identifies all the tactics used to 'debunk'.Winston Wu exposes those tactics in a concise and interesting format. His objective is to expose and debunk the fallacies, flaws and misinformation of the pseudoskepticism movement and he has done just that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't go on television without it!!
If you are a television producer, a journalist, a medium, a psychic or anyone connected with the paranormal or the media you need to read this book. This is because at some time you will encounter every one of the arguments so devastatingly dissected by Winston Wu when a rent-a-skeptic is trotted out by a lazy and uninformed television producer in the interests of so-called balance in any program to do with the paranormal.

Winston has done a great service to genuine skeptics and this highly stimulating book should be considered required reading for all who are interested in true science, evidence and genuine enquiry into the most important questions human beings can ever ask. Buy it, read it and make the arguments part of your working repetoire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant.
Are you tired of the logical circularities peddled by soi disant hardcore "skeptics" (pseudoskeptics)?

If you would like to take to them with an intellectual sledgehammer then read this book. So far I've not seen anything that comes close to dismantling the claims, lies, distortions and obfuscations of pseudoskepticism with such power and efficiency. Wanna see the emperor with no clothes on??

As the author of the coming "Grand Illusion" book series on the nature of reality, dealing with all things paranormal, I found Wu's material very helpful and deeply insightful regarding the mentality of the pseudoskeptic. Anyone with an interest in such topics should read this.

Get ready to leave mindless dogma behind!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amunition
At last there is some rebutal of psuedoskeptic modus operandi. Never before has there been such an astute targeting of the weaknesses within the arguments given by the Psuedo Skeptic world. This work is not only compelling but should be part of the armoury for any serious paranormal investigator and scientists alike. Winstonas wu weaves a spiders web for the skeptic and is the black widow nemesis of the psuedo skeptical world. Bravo!! ... Read more

Ian is learning that the origin of our thought is not unique to us as individuals. He debates whether he is hearing voices in his head, or whether he is hearing the actual thoughts of other individuals around him. It’s too common to be coincidence. It can’t be. It’s incoincidence.

On December 21st, 2012, he begins writing a journal to keep track of the voices he hears in his head. He’s searching for clarity, truth, and understanding. This is the beginning of the awakening of the human race, the arrival of a higher collective consciousness. Hearing a man’s plan to rape a student forces him to stand up to his beliefs- that he is in fact hearing the thoughts of others- and not losing his mind. This results in a murder from which he runs.

Chile then presents itself as a perfect place to disguise himself as an English teacher, away from people back home that would be asking questions. Three things find him in Chile; 1) the ghost of the man he killed, 2) the Spanish thoughts of those around him, and 3) more murder, more death, and more running.

On his final departure to Machu Picchu he discovers the truth, the meaning to his life, the purpose behind every moment that has lead up to the present. Everything he had previously considered coincidence, all of the things that previously proved unexplainable present themselves as a catharsis to understanding the power of the human mind. Ian finds what it means to have faith. He now knows God isn’t making decisions. God doesn’t have a motive. God is the force through which our decisions react with the rest of mankind. Incoincidence is planned by men of faith and heard by men without faith as coincidence. We are all one mind... thoughts, reactions, memories and all.

This is a story of the beginning.

How will you react? ... Read more

Product Description
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), though best known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes, was during his lifetime also well-known as one of the most prominent proponents of the Spiritualist movement. His 1918 book, "The New Revelation," seriously proposes the reality not only of life after death, but of communication to the living from those who have passed on. In this book he discusses in some detail what happens to the human spirit following the death of the physical body. This includes a total denial of hell, coupled with a more clearly defined concept of something like Purgatory (required, Conan Doyle notes, by the simple concept of justice, which he says needs some form of punishment, though not enternal torture).

Conan Doyle suggests that there is scientific proof of life after death, and that while all religions are essentially good (meaning no one is doomed simply by chosing the wrong one), they will require some modification after Spiritualist truths become more widely recognized. ... Read more

Or did you ever feel the Chills up and down your spine when talking to someone ?

People generally say, "that gave me the Chills" and then forget about it until it happens again. It repeats over and over in life at various times and people forget about it.

You hear others say the same thing and then forget about it.Ever stop to wonder what is happening?

What is it?What about getting cold and saying I got the Chills?Or watching a scary movie and saying that gave me the Chills?

Are the Chills a good, happy, affirming, loving, meditative, achieving, balancing, believing, improving, spiritual, and joyful energy?Or a bad and/or cold energy?

I was as confused as you probably are and after I increasingly got the chills, not the "bad" or "cold" chills, but the "good" Chills ….investigated and after years of work and contemplation, completed this great book.

Product Description
The Book on Mediums or Mediums and Evokers' Handbook (a.k.a. The Mediums' Book —Le Livre des Médiums, in French), is a book by Allan Kardec published in 1861, second of the five Fundamental Works of Spiritism — the spiritualist philosophy Kardec had been publishing — being the tome in which the experimental and investigative features of the doctrine were presented, explained and taught.

It is intended to be actual handbook for would-be mediums, containing doctrine and practices that one must master in order to become a medium, an elementary course on theories and basic methods to assess the new light that had never been tried by rational inquiry before: the interaction of the physical and spiritual worlds.

The Book on Mediums set the bases and the terminology that guided Parapsychology and Paranormality for quite sometime. In its pages one will find a classification of paranormal phenomena, with a special focus on those capable of communicating messages, and thorough descriptions of the mechanisms that — according to Spiritism — were involved. It also contains serious warnings against unguided use of the gift of mediumship, especially without the necessary seriousness.

PREFACE

In venturing to prepare this little volume for the eyes of the reading
public, I am fully aware of the difficulties of the subject and the
inadequacy of the expressions I have been able to employ, but I have
made the attempt at the request of those who have found consolation in
some of the thoughts herein embodied; and the messages left by others
before they passed away, embolden me to hope that many others may find
in this volume some points of interest which will help them to
appreciate better the "joys" which this life has for those who know
how to look for them, and that perhaps others may even gain a clearer
conception of that which awaits us beyond the Veil.

Many of us allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the small worries and
vexations of everyday life, clothing them with a reality quite
disproportionate to their importance; we are too apt to look at them,
as it were, through a powerful microscope, piling power upon power of
magnification, until we have made mountains out of mole-hills,
whereas if we treated them at their true value we should look at them
through a telescope, in the reverse direction, when they would appear
not only trivial, but would be seen to be too remote to have any
material effect on our lives.

The sub-title of this volume, and indeed its inception, arose from my
lately coming in contact with one of those establishments which are
doing for humanity what a mother's arms do for the child who is "sick
unto death"--a beautiful home with cheerful rooms and cheerful nurses,
where patients are tenderly cared for after severe operations, carried
through by our most famous surgeons, some cases, alas, almost hopeless
from the first. At the head of this establishment was one of those
kindly self-abnegating personalities, whose loving sympathy and
encouragement have comforted the dying and smoothed the path for many
a weary pilgrim passing from this life to the next. With immense
responsibilities on her shoulders, and after a day full of strenuous
work, the head of this establishment would often sit through the night
for hours by the couch of those whose lives could not possibly be
prolonged for more than a few days. It was a few simple answers
elicited by the questions brought to me from those poor sufferers, and
the way such answers seemed to calm anxieties connected with the fear
of death and to render the impenetrable Veil more transparent, which
suggested the title, "Through a Window in the Blank Wall."

I do not wish to lay claim to having made any startling discovery;
similar thoughts, especially those concerning the non-reality of Time
and Space, have no doubt occurred to others, but the whole problem
"What is the Reality?" has been insistently pressing on me ever since
I can remember, and I have tried to give here in simple colloquial
language, without any attempt at rhetoric, the conclusions I have
personally come to as to what is the Truth.....

Product Description
Published, circa 1959.
(From the PREFACE:)

The following essays have been written and published at various times,
and my thanks are due to the previous publishers for the permission to
reprint them.

The essay on "Mysticism and Logic" appeared in the _Hibbert Journal_
for July, 1914. "The Place of Science in a Liberal Education" appeared
in two numbers of _The New Statesman_, May 24 and 31, 1913. "The Free
Man's Worship" and "The Study of Mathematics" were included in a
former collection (now out of print), _Philosophical Essays_, also
published by Messrs. Longmans, Green & Co. Both were written in 1902;
the first appeared originally in the _Independent Review_ for 1903,
the second in the _New Quarterly_, November, 1907. In theoretical
Ethics, the position advocated in "The Free Man's Worship" is not
quite identical with that which I hold now: I feel less convinced than
I did then of the objectivity of good and evil. But the general
attitude towards life which is suggested in that essay still seems to
me, in the main, the one which must be adopted in times of stress and
difficulty by those who have no dogmatic religious beliefs, if inward
defeat is to be avoided.

The essay on "Mathematics and the Metaphysicians" was written in 1901,
and appeared in an American magazine, _The International Monthly_,
under the title "Recent Work in the Philosophy of Mathematics." Some
points in this essay require modification in view of later work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let us reject power from our hearts
While the essays on physics are rather outdated, Russell's sarcastic comments on the philosophy of Bergson, education, ethics or vegetarianism are still well worth reading.

Bergson
Bergson's crucial idea of `durée' is an error: `Since the past has effects now, it must still exist in some sense. The mistake in this maxim consists in the supposition that causes `operate'. The belief that causes `operate', results from assimilating them to volitions.'

Ethics
For B. Russell, `ethics is essentially a product of the gregarious instinct, that is to say, of the instinct to co-operate with those who are to form our own group against those who belong to other groups. Those who belong to our own group are good; those who belong to hostile groups are wicked,'

Education
`The endeavor to teach virtue has led to the production of stunted and contorted hypocrites instead of full-grown human beings"

Vegetarians
`Even vegetarians do not hesitate to save the life of a man in a fever, although in doing so they destroy the lives of many millions of microbes.'

Philosophy and man's place in the universe
`No heroism, no intensity of thought and feeling can preserve an individual life beyond the grave; all the noonday brightness of human genius are destined to extinction in the vast death of the solar system. All these things are yet so nearly certain that no philosophy which rejects them can hope to stand.'

These almost `lyrical' essays are a must read for all fans of the superb free mind of Bertrand Russell.
