muddled
don't bother with this book.it is supposed to be one of the classics, but it is a meandering morass of minutia.the index is very sketchy.when you then get to the section you are pointed to, you have to read through long-winded ramblings, without usually getting to the information you want.if you want an old-time reference book, i would recommend Descriptive English Grammar, by house and harman.you can find what you need there...usually.it is not as in depth, being only 500 pages, but wikipedia is extremely good to fill it out.also, if you need a bit more than a brush-up of your skills before attempting a serious work like DEG, cindy vitto's Grammar by Diagram will get you up to speed.
