Avid Sewer
When I bought this book, I didn't realize one of the projects had been featured on the HGTV "Simply Quilts" program. That made me even happier I made the purchase. It has the "Spider Web" wall quilt that Alex Anderson featured on her Halloween episode. This is a fun and wonderful book.

Matthew Mead's Halloween
The magazine has some interesting stuff in it. Although, it is pricy. It is in the form of hardback which was really unnecessary. Last year his book was in the form of a magazine which was just as good if not better. Next year I hope they do publish it as a magazine and not a book.

Wonderful Book for our Halloween Traditions
Matthew Mead is extremely good in creating and showing us how to create Halloween decorations and edibles!This is a terrific book, on the quality of Martha Stewart.It has 127 pages of ideas, all in color, and is a keepsake in itself.

The projects are very good and varied.There are some for kids and they go upwards to level of difficulty.The cheapest and most kid-friendly thing to do is the Masked Boiled Egg with Witches Hat.They're pictured on the front cover of the book.The kids loved doing them and they're adorable.I made the Mummy Meatloaf (so simple!).Some things can get pricey but you can just take the ideas to make your own version with cheaper materials.

A Halloween " Bible"
Matthew Mead knows his "craft ," (pun intended!) and loves his holiday. Beautiful photos, great inspiring ideas that lend themselves to other holidays as well. Got great Birthday party ideas from this. Could be more crafty and less food ideas, but an all-around excellent book, and very reasonably priced!!

styliah & original Halloween book
I just received this book and want to review it because it has no reviews. I like it very much. It is a stylish and fun collection of recipes and decor projects from a style editor for Country Home. To my eyes it is more the Martha Stewart sort of things as contrasted with the Walmart sort of things. Most of the projects are simple and whimsical, a few are more challenging but very worthwhile, for example a quilt of many crescent moons. All in all, I highly recommend this book for lovers of Halloween decorating and cooking. :-)

Mathew Mead Halloween Book Review
I was very excited to be getting this book after reading the recommendation in one of my magazine publications. After getting the book, I was very dissappointed with the content and immediately gave it away. Mead's Halloween book was filled with ideas such as putting masks on eggs and eyes on carrots(for candlesticks),eyes on pies, eyes on fruit and drawing faces on oranges. I found most of the ideas suitable for children or those with too much produce in their fridge. None of the members in my family were interested in trying any of the projects (and a large number of them seemed to be applying eyes to various objects,mostly food). These ideas are economical though as they can be whipped up using everyday objects. The front cover was so enthralling that I had assumed the content would be something different than what was actually inside and we were dissapointed. Although, if you enjoy spending a good amount of time shaping marzapan, you will actually enjoy one section of this book. If you enjoy shaping wool into Halloween shapes, you may actually enjoy another section of the book. Children may enjoy this book as some of the ideas are simplistic. As for us, we enjoyed Martha Stewart's Halloween book so much more for the adult content and unique ideas. ... Read more

Great book full of ideas
Some ideas are not all that original but there are a few things in here that will help you find insperation for your Halloween parties and costums. Some party activities are lots of fun. Overall a very fun book with great illustrations and all color photos.

The BEST Halloween Book Out There!
I admit that I am a *freak* when it comes to Halloween...and now that I have kids I plan on getting them involved in my passion as well!I am always the one buying up all the Halloween magazines at the grocery store checkout looking for recipes and crafts...and THIS ONE sums up everything!AAANNNDDDD...It is ALL in color!!!It has awesome crafts, costumes, food, music/movie suggestions...everything...and for ALL age groups (eg, even non-alcoholic drinks to alcoholic drinks).And what I love about the food is there are cute ideas that are "spooky" and cute but not really gross like some Halloween recipes.

I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND this book to anyone that has kids or that is a kid themself when it comes to Halloween!!!

SIMPLE, INEXPENSIVE, AND GREAT LOOKING PROJECTS
When I was a kid...and I'm NOT saying when that was...decorating for Halloween consisted of mainly taping those old cardboard decorations of skeletons, witches, or bats, etc, on your windows, carving a jack-o-lantern, and maybe stuffing a dummy.Today, decorating for Halloween is second only to Christmas and is growing every year.No longer just sprouting up a week before the holiday, today people seem to begin decorating for Halloween as soon as October rolls around.And with the elaborate displays many people now have, it probably takes that long to finish.But as Halloween stores pop up each September selling expensive, Hollywood quality props and decorations, people have lost sight of the fact that you needn't break the bank to have a great Halloween display at your house."Halloween Recipes & Crafts" presents 160 pages of fantastic ideas for decorating both inside and outside, along with great recipes and other tips for a memorable Halloween.The book opens with a short but interesting history of Halloween and then provides tips on party planning and safety.From there we get into the meat of the book and the fabulous projects you can make at home for little cost.

Outdoor Décor is the first section and provides a number of projects that were new to me.One of the most interesting was the freshly dug graves project where you turn everyday plastic garbage bags and a little bit of dirt or soil, to create the look of a freshly dug grave on for your front lawn.Accent it with a Styrofoam tombstone (which you can also make very inexpensively) some leaves, maybe a fake hand rising out of the dirt, for a truly terrifying display.

Another outdoor project utilizes old tin cans, such as soup or even coffee cans.Painted pumpkin orange, simply punch a series of holes in the can with an awl or screwdriver to make a face.Place a candle inside the can and hang outside for a brilliant Halloween lantern.There's also dangling skeletons that can be made with old gallon milk jugs and a scary Halloween ghost flag that can be made for a few dollars.

Moving inside, there are more great projects.Utilize those, unused Halloween masks by simply stuffing them and hanging them inside...or outside...as recently severed heads.One of my favorite projects is the shrunken heads made out of apples.Simply peel an apple and apply a solution of lemon juice and salt to prevent browning.Carve out the apple in the shape of a face and let dry for a couple of weeks.You can even use marker or paint to further accent these ghastly little decorations.The highlight for me was a miniature graveyard scene made with a simple sheet of Styrofoam, some Spanish moss, twigs, little stones, and smaller pieces of Styrofoam to make tiny tombstones.

The recipes section has all sorts of Halloween themed ideas like deviled egg eye balls or lady fingers made from a half of a hot dog with a red pepper finger nail applied with a bit of cream cheese.Add raisins to ice cubes for drinks or punch to give the appearance of bugs.A great idea for adults is to take the traditional bread bowl spinach dip and cut the bread bowl into a jack-o-lantern face.It would make a great centerpiece for an office party.

If you're hosting a party for your children and their friends there's a great chapter featuring a wide display of games like "Pin the Mouth on the Pumpkin", "Encase the Mummy", "Apple Grab" and more that will keep the kids busy and having fun.The book closes with some tips on costume selection and makeup.

The projects in this book are great looking yet very simple and inexpensive to make.The projects all have a supply list and are described in step-by-step fashion.Chances are you'll find that you have a lot of the items you need already in your home.The book is printed on glossy paper and is lavishly illustrated with dozens of photographs throughout.A real ghoul's treat of fun and great looking projects.

Not Fair!
This is an OK book of ideas but it is the same book that was printed with a different cover so I ended up with 2 of them. I consider that to be unfair!

WELL-DONE CRAFT IDEAS FOR HALLOWEEN
"Haunt Your House for Halloween", despite its ominous title, isn't really geared towards the scary side of Halloween.The book presents mainly tame Halloween décor and on that level it works very well.You just have to know what you're getting.Author Cindy Fuller wastes no time with lengthy histories of Halloween myths and traditions...we've all read those time and time again.She jumps right into the many projects found in this 96 page book.

One of the semi-scary projects to be found is the Floating Phantom, made with just a handful of items that you may have at home or can be picked up at the local craft store.Made from primarily a piece of old white bed sheet (I prefer an off white or gray to make it seem no so "pure") and some line for hanging, you can achieve more of a terrifying look by drawing a more evil face on your phantom before hanging from a tree or perhaps an awning.

Halloween wreaths are becoming quite common place today and allow a decorator to really use their own imagination in coming up with unique designs.There's a wonderful Halloween wreath, decorated with tiny ghosts that serves a dual function.It not only looks good, but you can stick suckers all around the wreath for a distinctive way of passing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

A very simple, yet effective way to make scary décor for Halloween is to cut various shapes of ghosts, or bats, or other traditional Halloween characters out of Acetate and stick them to your windows, using light to create some very spooky silhouettes.

Fuller also has many projects for décor inside the home including a neat little pumpkin patch village that can go on top of your mantle or on a table.There are also a number of items that can be made out of pine if you have the right tools to cut the wood.The book contains patterns for all of these wood projects.

There are also things like recipes and décor for Halloween parties.The book features a full color photograph of each completed project and each is detailed in clear, concise instructions, and is accompanied by a full materials list.While it's more crafty than scary, "Haunt Your House for Halloween" presents some great-looking and simple projects to accent your home's holiday look.

Cute book, but would have called it "How to Decorate Your Home for a Country Autumn"
Being a Halloween aficionado, I find this book cute, and full of good for ideas for a mild Halloween, but "haunted" is not what I would call the decorations.I still can't understand why some of the pumpkins have jester hats.Personally, I would call this more fall country decor than anything, but very cute and good ideas all around.

Cutsie cutsie cutsie
I'm a serious Halloweenie.When I heard the title "Haunt Your House For Halloween:Decorating Tricks & Party Treats" the last thing I expected were cutsie country painted wood cutouts of pumkpin men (stacked 3 hight like snowmen), pigeon-looking blue crows, and BUNNIES with harlequin diamond painted ears.There were even oversided EGGS painted in yellow, orange, and white as if to be candy corn.

If you're a serious country crafter who wants to spend a lot of time cutting shapes out of pine with your jigsaw and then painting them, this book has great ideas for you.Personally, I found that a lot of the instructions were quite lengthy and involved, and required a lot of money spent on materials and tools.

I bought two Halloween books online this year in preparation for my 2nd annual haunted costume party.This one was a big disapointment for me.If you're looking for some really fantastic, easy, original and genuinely SPOOKY decorating and party ideas, try "Scary Scenes For Halloween" by Jill Williams Grover.I've left rave reviews for the wealth of amazing ideas I've gathered from her book.

Simple Ideas
This book has some creative ideas, but also some things that are pretty cheesy.For the most part, I will use this book to get some ideas to use as jumping-off points for Halloween projects.Most of the book is filled up with recipes.Many of the recipes are pretty creative, but it also includes recipes for decorating cookies to look like spiders or ghosts.

This book is a ton of fun. The craft projects range from the simple to the complicated, with clear directions and adorable results.The "Spooky Skeleton" made with chenille stems is cute and definitely kid friendly."Henrietta Witch" is sweet, but requires a sewing machine and a lot of supplies.The recipes are the best part of the book.My favorites are the "Mini Mummy Dogs". They are super easy to make, but look awesome. They would make great finger food for a Halloween party. Not what I was looking for...
I would love to find a Halloween decorations book designed for parents who work full time, and who do not have yards!We live in Chicago, and while we have parks, Halloween trick or treating is limited... and we want to find ways of jazzing up Halloween with little outdoor space to use, and also with limited time to make things.If anyone knows of a holiday sourcebook designed for the stressed out urban parent set, please email me!

Great book
This book has wonderful ideas, someyou will see elsewhere but plenty of fresh new ideas. Recipes, crafts, ideas all in one book. I loved getting this book!

More fun to flip through than actually use as a "How to"
I'm always a little disappointed by any book that says it has it all, and the craft and recipe offerings in this book are either overly complicated or very well-worn. We've all seen painted pumpkins, graveyard pudding, and knitted pumpkin skullcaps many times before.

What I do like about the book is the holiday stories and lore sprinkled in throughout the book,the list of "last minute costume ideas", and photos of vintage Halloween collectibles. The book is fun to flip through, but there's nothing much new I'd use here for decorating or party throwing.

WASTE OF MONEY! DO NOT BUY!
I am the type of consumer that as soon as I get my item in the mail, I'm fine with it.You sold it, I bought it. Transaction done. (Sorry, you aren't getting rep points or buyer feedback from me.) Same goes for when I get emails to get write a review about a product I have recently purchased via amazon or ee-bbaayy, I honestly do not feel compelled to take time out of my day to give my opinion.Well, this book changed all that!After receiving this "book" in the mail, I felt the NEED to jump on my computer, log on, search for the feedback area and write this horrible review IN HOPES of saving a fellow parent/person who happens to LOVE Halloween and scours countless books, magazines, websites for fresh innovative ideas.
Now, if by chance another 'consumer' gives a "glowing" review after my absolute lashing of this so-called book, they are either the publisher (or author)(or involved in the making) of this piece of crap!There are NO pictures and it looks like someone typed up a bunch of stuff that is online and binded the pages to fool fellow Halloween lovers.Same goes for "Coolest Halloween Parties" by Kathleen 0'Donell.I'm off to complain about that book too!!!!
