Product Description

Most people's diets are woefully inadequate for providing proper nutrition. Even good diets fail to deliver sufficient levels of nutrients. The Vitamin Cure book series highlights the safe and clinically effective use of vitamin supplements for a variety of illnesses. Research continues to prove the immense value of vitamins for maintaining health and fighting disease. The Vitamin Cure books, written by authors who are recognized experts in their field, provide authoritative, up-to-date, and practical information on taking vitamins for particular health problems. Migraine headaches are one of the most incapacitating diseases in terms of useful days lost. Worldwide, more than 300 million people are afflicted by migraines. Unfortunately, it is a chronic disease that is particularly difficult for conventional medicine to investigate or treat effectively.

Nutrition should be the first line of defense for a migraine sufferer. The Vitamin Cure for Migraines describes nutritional approaches to both prevention and treatment, based on orthomolecular (megavitamin) medicine. Additional noninvasive therapies that may be helpful include herbal medicine, acupuncture, and oxygen therapy. As a last resort, selected drugs can be used for aborting migraines- these are covered as well. With this safe and effective nutritional program, migraine sufferers' lives can be greatly improved.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real help for migraine pain
The first thing I noticed about this book is that the author himself has
migraine headaches. While I would not wish these awful headaches on anyone,
it is a solid relief for me to know this. Why? Because like most readers of
this book, I have suffered a lot from migraines, and I want some sympathy. I
also want specific techniques that will help, and now. Like the author, I am
interested in whatever helps. Trying nutrition is a good idea. I have; the
author has. It does make a positive difference. Not necessarily a total
cure, but let's face it: less pain is good, period. This book is realistic,
insightful, and extremely well referenced with hundreds of scientific
citations. Oddly enough, it is also enjoyable to read. It not only discusses
vitamins, but also considers minerals, therapeutic foods, herbs, and
physical therapy. It tells you what to do, and what not to do; it tells you
why and it wells you exactly what. That's what I look for in a health book.
I highly recommend The Vitamin Cure for Migraines.

Product Description
Migraine Art includes more than 300 powerful illustrations and paintings created by migraine sufferers from around the world. It provides a thoroughly unique window into the subjective world of the migraine sufferer. The idea of collecting migraine art started with a number of public competitions in the 1980s, which encouraged artists, both amateur and professional, to illustrate the pain, the visual disturbances, and the effect migraines had on their lives. The book includes hundreds of these submissions as well as detailed descriptions of different types of migraine visual phenomena.

Covering such topics as migraine signs, triggers, and treatments, as well as types of visual hallucinations and somatic sensations and experiences, the book offers a comprehensive view of the migraine experience. Each category of visual disturbance is accompanied by related artwork. A description of migraine visual experiences of famous historical figures, such as Blaise Pascal and Lewis Carroll, provide historical background on the topic. The book also includes a history of four Migraine Art competitions and information about the Migraine Art collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Migraine: Not A Headache After All
This book is an exquisite piece of work, as art, as literature, and as reassurance...yes, it's all in your head, and it's a glorious experience! Enjoyingmigraine from here on in is of the essence, for, as this book rightfully demonstrates, it's not an affliction, but a showstopper of whimsy and serendipity, descending of its own spazzy accord onto the physical plane. Making my life hell no more, Miggsy will join the rolling oceans and the sparkling stars as just another source of inspiration and, yes, redemption.Talk about suffering for your art!! Migraine has its own mind, with a clockwork method agleam all that spectral mayhem. And so, peaceful coexistence is key. The Inner Integral, showing its true colors (and boy, are they true), is out to win you over.Cortical spreading depression is spreading the good news, which this wonderful book shares with us -- that migraine, in its own way, is a gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Migraine Art - The Migraine Experience from Within
A book with a thorough description and analysis of the signs and symptoms represented by migraine sufferers in the almost 600 drawings and paintings of the Migraine Art collection, with coloured illustrations of over 300 of these artworks. Beyond its interest from the art point of view, the book offers the most detailed representation of the variety of symptoms that can occur in migraine and especially migraine with aura. Informative reading for every migraine sufferer and doctor, it promotes a better understanding of the manifestations of the migraine in terms of subjective experience and thus helps sufferers to better cope with the condition.

This is a professional level reference text, and is very well done.

Product Description
Cluster headaches(also called cluster migraines or Horton's syndrome) are similar to migraines but are much more severe. Attacks arrive in clusters lasting weeks to months, with months or years between headache cycles. Common medications are ineffective at providing relief, and the pain is so excruciating that many victims have committed suicide. Unlike other headaches, one cannot simply "take a couple of aspirin" and continue with everyday events. Cluster headaches affect one out of every 400 adults, yet many victims suffer alone. Their symptoms were either misdiagnosed, or they are unaware of current treatment modalities. But help is now available for the thousands of men and women who are afflicted with this debilitating ailment. This concise manual on cluster headaches is furnished to encourage and support cluster headache victims, their families, and the doctors who are trying to help them. It contains more than 200 profiles of cluster headache sufferers, along with candid excerpts by medical doctors and their patients. More importantly, it clarifies symptoms, elaborates on factors likely to provoke the condition, and provides the most up-to-date, cutting-edge therapies for treating and relieving the pain. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars cluster headaches by seymour diamond, md
quote:"treatment.relief for ....."This should never again be offered on Amazon (you are too far above this type of lit.)
It consists of an intro, a few paragraphs (only a few sentences each) to describe a headache...the rest of the entire content of this so called "help book", consists of list upon list of what other people have said about or how they described their headaches. When he says"from the personal experiences of " who were these people? "provided to encourage.."he needs a ghost writer, people with headaches who buy a book penned by a "MD", you want their opinion, not what so and so says about
their heads. They look for the book that will give encouragement in the form of offering viable, scientificly
researched data that will help them, not just give you the sense...move over, there are plenty of others out there with headaches and read what they say.
Sorry, but it was, for an avid reader of above average intelligence, a VERY dissapointing book. I am sure the author must have much to say that could help the buyer and sufferer, it is well hidden within the book, if so.Not that he/she should give up, but please find a competent assistant, and write your own views.Thank you for giving me a chance to review one of Amazons books.

3-0 out of 5 stars Still waiting for answers.
This book touts "Treatment and Relief for Cluster, Cluster Migraine, and Recurring Eye-Stab Pain," but gives little clinical information.Instead, this book offers a few paragraphs of medical observation, followedby dozens of statements made by unidentified sufferers; covering symptoms, triggers, treatment and relief (which Cluster Headache sufferers know isstill impossible).I've been waiting years for conclusive information onthis excruciating condition.Reading page after page of complaints similarto my own nearly triggered another cluster headache!"Threestars" because I finally saw my crazy symptoms in print and know I'mnot alone.Buy this book for emotional support, or to educate others aboutthe condition.Don't buy it to be wowed by recent medical insight andadvances. ... Product Description
Migraines in children are a fascinating and complex topic. Although frequently under-recognized and underdiagnosed,1 migraine is the most common acute and recurrent headache syndrome in children. Unique from adults, children have defined precursors of migraine termed the “childhood periodic syndromes.” In addition, they are also more likely to have complex neurological presentations believed to be migraine variants.
Migraine is responsible for significant disability in childhood interfering with school attendance and impacting quality of life.2-4 Data from the 1989 National Health Interview Survey found that within a 2-week period, 975,000 children had a migraine resulting in 164,454 missed school days.5 Children with migraines score significantly lower on quality of life measures than healthy norms with scores similar to children with arthritis and cancer.6 Currently, it is ranked number 19 by the World Healthm Organization among all diseases causing disability.7
Migraine is also costly. Children with migraine headaches have higher total direct medical costs when compared to healthy cohorts.8

Knowledge of the etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of migraine in children is evolving rapidly and compels the emergency clinician to stay abreast of the literature. This article will highlight the differences that exist between children and adults in the area of diagnosis and management and will summarize advances made in the understanding of migraine headaches with greatest attention to literature from the last decade. The authors will also present the best evidence to inform the clinician’s clinical decision making in the ED regarding indications for neuroimaging and treatment. After completingthis systematic review, the reader should have a comprehensive understanding of pediatric migraine headaches and be prepared to provide state-of-the-art emergency care to children with migraine headaches. ...
