New source of ideas for Kwanzaa crafts
Librarians, teachers and parents will be pleased with this title by California storyteller, puppeteer, papercrafter and Hans Christian Andersen portrayer Randal McGee. As a librarian I was constantly on the lookout for simple, effective and inexpensive crafts for library programs. Randal's book offers just that, along witheasy to understand history and facts about the holiday. Instructions are simple and children age 8 and up should have no difficulty making the crafts; younger children may require some assistance with cutting. I would have preferred the patterns to be full sized on individual pages to eliminate the need to enlarge them, but most copiers should be able to handle the job. What's with the pastels?
I am a Martha Stewart fan, but this book disturbed me with its creepy pastels and white motif that pervaded the book.This sucked the Christmas spirit right out of me.I do yearn for the deep rich colors and and oldmoney feel that were the Martha of yore.Now everything is post-divorcebright minimalist.

A rehash of past magazines
If you subscribe to the magazine you will be very disappointed.Most ofthe projects are articles directly out of the past couple years' Winterissues.If you don't subscribe, you will enjoy the book.It's a scam fortrue Martha devotees.

Why is the cover so ugly?
ALl I have to say about this book is one thing:It's a shame an art-driven publisher like Clarkson Potter would allow an ugly cover like this to bear their logo.Obvious last-minute slap job of magazine scrap pieces.What a waste of money.

I can't imagine the holidays without it!
What would Christmas be without Martha Stewart?I can't imagine.This book covers Christmas in every stage from planning a month before to enjoying the big day. Everything is mapped out in accessible detail.The finished products look so "Martha Stewart," yet they are so simple to make, especially the folded paper stars, boxes of Swiss meringue,(which are spectacular) and the felt bags.My book is well worn and I find myself reaching for it almost monthly.The Lime Meringue Tartrecipe alone is worth the price of the book!

Great collection of some of Martha's Best
I am a Halloween fanatic. And when I discovered that Martha Stewart was also a Halloween fanatic, I just couldn't wait to see what she would do with Halloween decorating. This book is a nice collection of some of her best or memorable projects for Halloween decorating. I think it's a great collection for someone who just wants a basic overview of how Martha does Halloween. But after getting it, I ended up hunting down several of the magazines that these projects came from. It was a lot more effort and costly than buying the book, but I'm glad I did, because the mags from which these projects come contain SO MANY more awesome projects! So, if you want a quick and affordable overview, this is a great buy. But if you really want to collect ALL of her fantastic Halloween projects, I'd say either spend the time and dough to hunt down the mags they came from, OR simply go to [...]...her website is HUGE and contains pretty much everything she has ever done! :)

Good for Fans, Great for Halloween Lovers
If you are a collector of Martha's Halloween Holiday Magazines then this book is just a compilation of all her awesome ideas over the years from those particular magazines. But as far as being all about Halloween decorating, this book is pretty much the best one I can think of. The photography and layout of the book is really good and constantly inspires me to get new ideas every time I read it.

Great crafts, treats, costumes and more!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and this book has some great ideas for crafts, costumes and food. One of the best halloween inspired snacks was for ladies fingers and men's toes, I brought these to a Halloween party and they were a big hit.
The crafts and recipes in this book are fairly easy to make with planning. Don't try to pull anything off at the last minute. But with some planning and the right tools/ingredients you can achieve a really beautiful finished product.

Good, but not great
Halloween is not a big deal here in Australia, so I was looking for a inspirational book with plenty of how-tos and ideas...I bought this book after combing the Martha Stewart website, expecting more of the same great stuff.I was a little disappointed when it arrived.Still a good book, but I'd recommend going though the website first - a lot of the stuff in this book is contained there anyway.The book has a very appealing look, and is still a good read, but for sheer volume of ideas, all with easy instuctions, use the website.

The photos showing each project made it very easy to follow theirdirections.Many of the projects are quick to make, I liked the Victorianflavor of many ornaments.My sisters and I create a "family"ornament each year for our aunts, cousins, etc.We have made several fromthis book.

Many elegant and unusual Christmas ideas
I checked this out of the public library and was very glad indeed to find it still available for purchase. For some of us, Christmas is not so much a season as a lifestyle so I've seen lots of holiday decorating books.This particular book was well worth tracking down for my own.It's particularly strong on ideas for elegant, somewhat Victorian decorating items.It's not for absolute beginners or children but there's nothing that's beyond the moderately adept home crafter. ...
