Implant dentistry has become a standard option for the rehabilitation of fully and partially edentulous patients. 4-0 out of 5 stars It's a nice book but only case series, not much more.
I like this book. I've the two previous issues of this series and it's very similar in structure and content.
In this volume Buser focuses on the placement of dental implants in fresh extraction sockets.
Most of the information (99%) contained in this volume can be found on the consensus published on JOMI. I knew it before buying it but I bought it anyway.
I think it is worth the price but don't expect anything like the Misch book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars At Ease
I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. Before reading this book by Dr. Grippo, I was very nervous to have the procedure.I didn't know what to expect as I had never visited a Maxillofacial Surgen before. However after reading his book, I knew exactly what was going to happen. Thanks Dr. Grippo for putting me at ease before the procedure!Anyone who needs to visit a Maxillofacial Surgen should read this book first!

5-0 out of 5 stars Taking the fear out of the unknown
My 16 yr old daughter had to have her wisdom teeth pulled. She was terrified and it was a daily point of contention between us.I thought if I could find some information for her to read, something that would explain what was going to happen, she might not be so fearful.I searched the internet for some sort of guide or informational article that would easily explain what she would be going through. What I had found was either too technical or was not on point.I finally found this book and my prayers were answered!I ordered it immediatly and gave it to my daughter. After both of us reading this book she was no longer afraid of her impending procedure and I had a better understanding of the fear she was feeling.I can't say after reading the book, she looked forward to the appointment but she was definetly more positive and accepting about what was going to happen. The book was easy to understand, entertaining and not condescending. So many people have a fear of both the dentist and oral surgeons, which often is based on a lack of understanding what is going to happen during thier procedure. This book educates a patient in a manner so that there are no surprises and realistic expectations are set.Any parent with a child needing any kind of oral surgery will benefit from having thier child read this book.I can not recommend it enough!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great guide for children facing oral surgery
As the title suggests, this book was written for young people who must deal with oral surgery and are afraid of the unknown process.Dr. Grippo skillfully explains through eight short stories, the procedures that are necessary from a single tooth extraction to the most complex challenges facing a young patient.

The stories are neither condescending, nor so technical that a young person can't understand what he or she can expect.

If I were a dentist, I'd want to be able to provide such a book to my young patients when oral surgery was in the immediate future.

If I were a parent with a child facing oral surgery, I'd like to have this book to take away the fear of the unknown. ... Read more

Product Description
Featuring large-scale, full-color images, this timely book presents a novel approach to restorative treatment planning that greatly simplifies implant delivery and allows for more accurate and predictable treatment outcomes. Employing highly advanced CT technology, specialized scanning appliances are used to transfer prosthetically relevant information to the CT study, giving clinicians the means to develop a prosthetically directed surgical treatment plan that can be physically transferred to the patient via a surgical template. Because it is positioned in the patient s mouth at the time of implant placement, this custom-made resin-based surgical template helps direct the precise placement, direction, and depth of the implant(s), resulting in a shorter and less painful surgical experience for the patient. Readers will benefit from the knowledge imparted by clinicians and researchers with many years of experience in computer-guided implant placement. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars vague and pointless
I was forced to buy this in dental school because one of the authors is the head of our prosth department's dad.She left the next year. This is the lady who made us take all our impressions in rubber base and wrote terrible test questions with either no correct answer or multiple correct answers. And yes, in case you were wondering, I'm still bitter.Oh, and the book stinks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This book gives a good overview of implants, the selection criteria, restoration etc. For a beginner's guide this is definitely worth reading. Sometimes the text gets a little boring due to the details that a GP dentist may not be concerned with, but overall this book should be read by all dentists who plan on restoring implants. ...
