Extractions: The Early Childhood program consists of 41 credits. The work may be started in the sophomore year and taken in blocks of 8-10 credits per semester. The program is individualized, and students progress at their own rate and according to their unique needs. During each of the first three semesters, students participate in a different, semester-long field placement that is linked with a three credit study group, in which theory is studied along with the Early Childhood classroom experiences. Students spend three hours on two mornings a week in the field for a minimum of 72 hours over the course of each semester. Each field experience is supervised and every attempt is made to provide students with culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse field experiences, with most students having at least one urban experience. Other courses focus on literacy and curriculum.

Our building is a designated historic landmark having undergone state-of-the-art renovation in 1991. B.F. Day has an outstanding record of parent and community participation in school governance and support. Day instituted a Parent/Teacher/Student contract signed by all teachers and families attending the school. Parents make a commitment to volunteer a minimum of 15 hours per family to support the school. Eighty percent of all B.F. Day families currently fulfill this commitment. B.F. Day has a long-term relationship with the Fremont Arts Council, which provides volunteer involvement for school art, projects. The Fremont Chamber of Commerce partners with the school for annual fundraising activities. Our new neighbor, Adobe Corporation, provides technology and resources to the school.
