From the supplier: A paper reporting results of a survey of Y2K readiness at public schools in the State of Kansas is presented. The Governmental Accounting Standards Board issued Technical Bulletin No 98-1 requiring certain disclosures from public entities about Y2K compliance, including amount of resources committed to remediation and general descriptions of projects underway. Key project stages are awareness, assessment, remediation and testing. No guidance yet exists for school districts detailing when each stage should be completed, but an SEC report suggested that organizations complete the awareness stage in 1996 and remediation by early 1998. A survey instrument was mailed to each of 304 public K-12 school districts asking 25 yes or no questions. A table of results is presented.
