5-0 out of 5 stars great tool for learning
This book is very helpful to practice letters and to read.I copy the pages so I can use them again and again.

4-0 out of 5 stars I really liked this book
I really enjoyed using this book in my kindergarten classroom during the second half of the school year as my students advanced in their reading skills.I found it to be an excellent additional learning tool to my teaching of sight words. I liked this helpful book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Purchased two in order to use
The flipbooks are posted back to back on the same page. You can not just cut them out but need to copy both sides. It was easier for me to purchase two books. Cut out the odd pages with one and even with the others. If I had more then my children to teach I suppose it might be worth it coping all 200 pages. I found it simpler to purchase two books instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up!
As with many of my good teaching ideas, I stole this one from a fellow teacher. This book is great and I would definately recommend it for kindergarten and first grade teachers. It can be used for independent work. It provides sight word practice and also incorporates complete sentence writing. I give it a definate thumbs up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Sight Word Practice

Product Description
Tray Tasking teaches parents and educators how to engage children in activities that promote whole body preparation for reading and writing skills while having fun. Children use common household items in new ways that lead to strengthened eye and hand coordination for future reading and writing success. A child manipulates the items organized on a tray using movements that require them to engage their eyes, arms and hands in left-to-right and top-to-bottom directions—the same directions used for reading and writing. The tray arrangements promote respect for materials and orderliness in a child’s world, and they reinforces that there is a place for everything and everything should be in its place. Teachers will value the opportunities tray tasks provide for authentically assessing children, and they’ll find the Tray Task Chart useful in tracking children’s progress. This book guides parents and teachers in involving children in activities that promote whole body preparation for reading and writing skills while having fun. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool for early chilhood teachers
This is a text book for my Science, Math, and Literacy class. It is really great and a must have.I took this to work with me and everyone wants one.I have to share it and I'm the one with homework! lol.We are implementing 3 activities next week. All these activites lead to language development.I like how a lot of the tasks get the children to cross the midline. What I like most is that it tells and shows you how to set up the activities so that a child that hasn't decided on which hand they like to use can choose for himself. If you set tools on the right side, the child will naturally pick it up with their right hand.If you set them on top then the child will have to think about which hand to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is long overdue!
At last not only a "workbook" for the early childhood professional but one that parents can share with their children. Great learning tools with everyday items found around the house. I saw Dr. Folds on the Health Network several years ago and it is about time she shared her endless well of ideas with early childhood pros and parents. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Leap Frog is AWESOME
I got this workbook, along with the Pre-K version and both the K and Pre-K Math and Basic Skills workbooks, for my 4- and 5-yr-old sons.

My older son, who will be starting kindergarten next month, has resisted anything having to do with school, he'd rather play. He's also hyperactive and has been delayed in speech and other development. But he and his little brother LOVE doing these.

We have a huge Leap Frog collection, and it's all because we have seen how well the kids are entertained AND learn a lot from it.

I would absolutely reccommend these workbooks to anyone with preschool or young elementary school kids. They're one of the few "educational" toys/books/videos that actually deliver. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars All In One Spot
This book is a typical reproducible book for preschool and kindergarten students. It saves a lot of time because there are projects for every letter (and consistency throughout) so you don't have to waste time making worksheets yourself. However, there is nothing outstanding about these, and they look kind of dated.Plus, it lacks ideas for hands-on lessons, which are extremely important for children this age.It is worth it to purchase this if you are just starting your teaching library and need reproducible resources, but save your money otherwise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hands on Alphabet Activities
This book is a great book with many ideas for each letter of the alphabet and I use it in my preschool class. Great for home schooling as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful!
I resisted using this book at first, but now I find it very helpful. I like the mini books and use them in my class as I introduce letters and words.I like that the students have easy to read books and it's a nice way to reinforce the words I teach in class. I don't use much from the book, but what I do use is great. It's a nice addition to my Word Study curriculum.I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Homeschool Preschoolers
I am currently using this book with my 2nd preschooler & thought I should add a review since I've been so happy with the curriculum. This satisfies the needs of those siblings who beg to do schoolwork with their older brothers & sisters. Even my kindergartener who has moved on to bigger and better things, still enjoys looking through her poems and pictures, and reading her mini-books. I did not do every thing reccommended in the book, but used the mini-books, along with the craft and poem to introduce the letters & sounds of the alphabet. My son looks forward to reading his completed books to his Daddy. I highly reccommend it!

3-0 out of 5 stars A lot of repetition
This book looks impressive at over 500 pages, but unfortunately much of the page count is taken up with repetitive information. Each letter has an art activity to go with a poem that focuses on an object beginning with the letter. There is a reproducible half page book with objects beginning with the letter followed by full page sized pictures of the same object which you are to make into a "big book" to read with a group. The activities for each letter are identical:

* read and act out poem
* identify letter on a card
* name object held up that start with the letter
* complete art project (mostly cutting and pasting with some painting and stamping)
* read big book for letter to child
* the child reads a little book of the same text.

Each step is described in detail for each letter although the format is exactly the same, which makes the book unnecessarily long. The little books are the best part of this curriculum, with repetitive text suitable for young readers and plenty of words that start with the letter being studied. The drawings seem a little crude, but they are friendly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Using Charts with preschoolers
I purchased this book because I am constantly seeking ideas of ways to use children's names on charts to increase their print awareness, and this book has activities to do this. It also has great ideas to use with fairy tales and nursery rhymes which have really captured my students' interests this year. Creating graphs was another area that this book provided ideas and I can honestly say that most of my students have grown in their math and literacy skills using some of these ideas. ... Read more
