Product Description
When zookeeper Theodora ''Teddy'' Bentley fishes the body of Koala Kate out of Gunn Landing Harbor, she discovers that her fellow zookeeper didn't drown; she was strangled. The clues to Koala Kate's killing implicate other animal keepers at the Gunn Zoo, including Outback Bill, marsupial keeper and Kate's Aussie ex-boyfriend; and Robin Chase, the big cat keeper who's got it in for Teddy. Also displaying suspicious behavior are a shady ''animal psychic'' and even Caro, Teddy's much-married, ex-beauty-queen mother. Meanwhile, to pay for repairs on the motor on her beloved houseboat, Teddy agrees to appear on a weekly live television broadcast featuring misbehaving animals. Between a cuddly koala, a panicky wallaby, and a killer zeroing in on her, all hell is about to break loose. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A surprise ending
I loved the first issue so much, I couldn't wait to read the second, and let me tell you, it wasn't at all what I was expecting.

In the previous issue, we meet a husband and wife who are on a date fighting, yet neither can admit to themself what is really going on. The wife thinks the fighting is her fault, and the husband being a typical man is oblivious to how he's treating her. Then ghosts hijack the bus and a handicapped young man who fights like Bruce Lee has to save them.

I was sure he would knock some sense into the husband, but to my surprise, it ... but I don't want to spoil the ending for you.

Even if you've never read a comic book before, check this one out! The way the story is told is unlike anything I've ever read before. ... Read more

Product Description
Emma Andrews has quit London for Venice after a family quarrel at her beloved grandmother's funeral. Venice possesses her completely, to the exclusion of grief, tiredness and her family. She meets Toni, a Venetian hotel owner, whose life also is overshadowed by his family history. They both show a normal face to the world, but their backgrounds provoke erratic behaviour in their personal lives. They both look for light out of the darkness, like the saints kneeling before the sun in the lunette over the door of the church of San Giobbe. Other Venetians have their stories, including Maria whose son works in Manhattan. Emma and Toni's relationship unfolds against the background of St Mark's and its piazza, Harry's Bar, the evocative islands of San Michele and Torcello, and a Venice shaken by the events of 9/11 in New York. ... Editorial Review

Product Description
Adored for its large fluffy ears, spoon-shaped nose and bright button eyes, the koala is universally recognised and revered as an Australian icon. But it hasn't always been so. After coexisting successfully with Aborigines for thousands of years, the koala was considered sloth-like by the early Europeans and valued for little more than its fur, and by the early twentieth century millions of koalas had been hunted, driving the species to near-extinction. Yet the koala is also one of the most well-adapted and resilient of Australia's marsupials, described by some as a triumph of evolution. How does it survive, and thrive even, on such indigestible fare as eucalyptus leaves, laden as they are with enough toxic phenols to kill most other animals? In this fascinating story of the koala, biologist and author Stephen Jackson examines not only the ecology, behaviour and history of this extraordinary animal, but also ongoing threats such as disease and habitat loss, and the controversial debate about how to best manage the remaining populations of Australia's favourite marsupial. ...
