Oregon's Common Curriculum Goals were the starting point; benchmarks were then written for Language Arts standards that relate to library skills and information literacy. OLIS Elementary Library media specialists from 10 Oregon elementary schools developed this site in 1999. Their goal was go create a Web place for Oregon elementary teachers and students to learn information literacy skills, to read books on the Web, and to easily find information on the Internet. They created a model that correlates national and Oregon information literacy standards.
