5-0 out of 5 stars Lung cancer- a review
Pass' book is excellent, well-written, and comprehensive. It is one of the first books patients and family members should go to, though they should be cautioned that the book is written for a medical audience.Skip the first two chapters on mollecular biology which are far too technical, and go to some of the other chapters written in a detailed but comprehensive fashion. This book will prove exceptionally useful, but tough reading for many, so keep a medical dictionary and encylopedia nearby.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for lung cancer clinicians and patient
This second edition is an excellent, readable resource that makes few assumptions about the reader's familiarity with lung cancer, molecular biology, or cancer genetics. Contains many entirely new chapters as well as carefully updated material from the first edition. Geared to oncologists and researchers, but nonetheless a good foundation resource for patients and families who wish to learn a great deal about lung cancer and its management. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Revici, Gerson, & Budwig Were Brilliant
Revici is a must read for those who are searching for relief from any degenerative disease. Revici certainly garnered a lot of praise from from his peers.I know of no other doctor that was held in such high esteem.Yet the AMA/Pharma money mongers certainly tried everything to totally discredit him. Same for Gerson and Budwig.I've been curing myself of Advanced Prostate cancer for over a year, following Gerson and Budwig. Certainly Revici's method(s) would do so also, perhaps better, because they apparently rooted out the source and worked rather fast.My Doctor's are incredulous and tell me to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing.Seems they tell all people to do the same, who are curing themselves. Wonder if they teach them to say that in Med School? The book is well written and does not bash allopathic medicine. It is understandable by all, even though some of the tech talk may escape a few readers (including me). After reading this book, one will definitely have a much fuller view of medicine and their body.Perhaps more so than their doctor. There is no doubt that Revici's understandings and discoveries will have to be used in the future if humankind is to remain alive.
If I come to the point where I need additional help, I will certainly go to the Revici Clinic[...]

5-0 out of 5 stars Wake Up People
You would think that in the twenty-first century people would know better than to blindly trust the medical establishment that is making billions from keeping people sick. And yet, so many have bought into the paternal attitude of the AMA and the FDA. We no longer live in the Dark Ages when people like Galileo were persecuted for making scientific discoveries. It's time to wake up and start exploring and you will find the truth. This book is a good place to start.

The Doctor Who Cures Cancer is the well-written story of a brilliant and compassionate doctor who was able to cure cancer fifty years ago. His methods and the science behind them are thoroughly explored in the book. Then why are we still waging a war on cancer today--and losing? Simple. Follow the money. The medical establishment is making too much by torturing and mutilating cancer patients with chemo, radiation, and surgery. Think the FDA will protect you? No. They're the ones jailing and condemning people like Dr. Revici who cure cancer.

Get this book if you want to learn about how one doctor fought the system and cured people. But let it be just the beginning of opening your mind and raising your awareness about cancer and modern medicine. Read. Research. Question everything your doctor says--it's your body and you have a right to whatever treatment you choose for yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Biography of a medical pioneer
Well-written and thorough, this biography of Emanuel Rivici, who discovered remedies for cancer, addiction, AIDS, and other conditions, brings to light the difficulties and politics of medical research.Eidem's "where do we go from here?" (part 5) is a call to action as well as a clearly defined and timely reminder that organized medicine needs a wake-up call to successfully deal with disease...the other 4 parts of this book (Revici's life, discoveries, patients, and foes) focus more on Revici as a person (along with his travails and challenges) than on solutions to any current ailment a patient might have; however, many practical resources are given throughout this volume, including the name and address of the Revici Life-Science Center in Manhattan, as well as details about acidity-alkalinity and lipids research. The two appendices (chronology and illustrations) are extremely helpful in understanding Revici's theories. This is a must-read for a person who is undergoing Revici therapy and should be required reading for oncologists and immunologists everywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Doctor Who Cures Cancer
This book is ground breaking and gives a clear understanding of the problem ie:the disease with solutions to get you on the road to recovery. Thank you Kelly for bringing truth to the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic information - a must for everyone!!!!
This book is wonderful, it surely opens the eyes to the wicked ways of the Medical system and FDA. If you know of anyone w/ cancer at any stage this book is for you. It offers hope like no other w/o going the traditional way and its horrible side effects. Like they say "if the disease doesn't kill you the treatment will". C ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful information
My mother has this and I found this book to have plenty of easy information to understand in the areas of;
signs/symptoms, what can cause or be aggravating factors in this disease, what types of treatments
are available and the side effects are and how helpful and harmful the side effects can be, also this book
mentions how vital good communication between the patient and his or her doctors must be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive And Covers Smokers Guilt
About 82% of lung cancer is caused by smoking. This book helps the patient and family deal with the emotional issues of knowing that in most cases this deadly disease is caused by the deliberate act of smoking. It also helps one deal with the years and years of lies put forth by cigarette manufacturers denying the deadly nature of smoking. About 15% of all smokers will die of this disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Informative, and Thought Provoking
Dr.Scott's book is comprehensive and offers not only fact-based research and methods of diagnosis, but it also covers the highly emotive issues surrounding the possible causes of lung cancer, including the subject of 'smokers guilt'.

This book is a must have for EVERY home, whether it is simply an addition to your home library or you have been diagnosed with the disease, or know someone who has it.

I am embarrassed and humbled by the fact that I am the first person on Amazon to review this remarkable book. Do yourself a favour, get interested in health-care and go and buy it. ... Read more

Product Description
Smoking is responsible for 90 per cent of cancer deaths. Incidence of lung cancer is rising. Lung cancer is responsible for more cancer deaths than colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer combined. Lung cancer primarily strikes people over age 45. By the time that an individual develops symptoms, spread has usually occurred. Lung cancer is directly related to smoking. Over 40 carcinogens have been identified in cigarette smoke. The risk of developing lung cancer is directly related to the number of cigarettes smoked. The change in consumption from unfiltered high tar cigarettes to filtered low tar cigarettes parallels the change in incidence from squamous cell carcinoma to adenocarcinoma. There is a long interval between quitting smoking and elimination of lung cancer risk. Up to 40 per cent of newly diagnosed lung cancer occurs in former smokers. (median abstinence duration 9 years). Product Description

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, but IGRT (image guided radiation therapy) offers the possibility of more aggressive and enhanced treatments. The only available source on the subject that emphasizes new imaging techniques, and provides step-by-step treatment guidelines for lung cancer, this source helps clinicians locate and target tumors with enhanced speed, improve the accuracy of radiation delivery, and correctly target cancerous masses while avoiding surrounding structures.

Edited by radiation oncology experts from the renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, this guide:

  • focuses on novel approaches using IGRT, particularly PET/CT, SPECT, 4-D CT, stereotactic body radiation therapy, IMRT and proton radiotherapy, and offers expert guidance on the dose, fractionation, target volume delineation (including recommended margins with and without respiratory gating based on our new 4-D CT study), and normal tissue tolerances

  • stands as the first step-by-step guide for radiation oncologists to implement new image-guided techniques into their day-to-day clinical practice, and considers the practical issues of implementing these approaches into their routine

  • helps clinicians use imaging technologies to detect changes in tumor size, shape, position, or metabolism over a course of radiotherapy treatment

  • provides disease stage-specific treatment guidelines and clearly lays out imaging techniques

  • serves as roadmap for future research and development

Lung cancer is a scary disease, and the new patient is understandably confused and frightened. The future is uncertain, and it's filled with a dazzling array of unfamiliar medical and surgical terms and procedures. "Living With Lung Cancer" provides easy-to-understand information about diagnostic tests, treatments and their side effects, nutrition, the likely prognosis, even coping with emotions and paying the bills.

By interviewing a large number of patients and their spouses, the authors learned the countless questions they have, including those they find difficult to ask in a doctor's office. The result is a book that helps people cope--with the disease, it treatments and, perhaps most of all, their nameless fears. It can help patients and their loved ones face the future with greater hope and confidence. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma
"Lung Cancer & Mesothelioma"

A Book Review By Lorraine Kember

The very mention of the word Cancer, strikes fear into all of us. It seems that every day we learn of someone close to us being diagnosed and all too often their cancer is terminal. There is nothing that can prepare us for a terminal diagnosis and the grief we experience at these times is intensified by our fear of the unknown, and our lack of knowledge regarding the disease and the pain and symptoms associated with it.

From personal experience I know that knowledge is the key to providing a better "quality of life" for the cancer patient.Better understanding of the stages of the disease and of methods and medications available to treat the pain and symptoms caused by it, allow for the patient and those who care for them, to make informed decisions regarding their care.In this way, they are able to regain some control over their lives.

Rarely does one find all the information they need in one book, however I believe Howard's well researched and comprehensive book "Lung Cancer & Mesothelioma", is quite unique. It provides a wealth of relevant and useful information including; how various types of cancer are formed, medical trials, available treatments and medications, insight and discussion regarding the emotional burden of cancer upon the patient and their families and ways by which to manage grief.

I believe this book will provide an invaluable resource for anyone who has or who is caring for someone with cancer.

Lorraine Kember is the Author of "Lean on Me - Cancer through a Carer's Eyes",
Written from her experience of caring for her terminally ill husband, who passed away from pleural mesothelioma (asbestos related cancer in 2001)
