5-0 out of 5 stars Beyond Normal Capability
This is the end all / be all to capability analysis.I don't care what the other reviewers have written. This book addresses every type of capability type analysis in detail.Normal, Non-Normal, Attribute, etc. The author addresses various capability indices.Every chapter has multiple pages that have specific examples that demonstrate clearly these capability examples for various manufacturing(mainly) and non-manufacturing industries. I use this text to base my teaching / workshop classes on and it is great!

The prerequisite is that you have some SPC background, real world, why else would you read this!

This should be on every process / quality / design / product engineer's library!

Thanks Mr. Bothe!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cookbook for SPC Practitioner
I think this quite a cookbook for any SPC practitioner. It helps me to handle the daily problems that I may encounter; I can take less effort. However, this book is quite difficult for beginners in SPC. I highlyrecommend quality and process related engineers to buy one for resolvingtheir problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is so good I'm buying 5 more for my peers
I'm quite impress with the amount of information that I have at my finger tips. I'm ordering 5 more and have introduced the book at one of my manufacturing sites and it is a must read for them.

3-0 out of 5 stars My company would like to purchase when in print
I have heard great things about this book. However, it is not currently in print. Please reprint this book.We would like to purchase multiple copies.

4-0 out of 5 stars A MUST read book for Practicing Engineers
This book significantly bridges the gap between the knowledge of Process Capability Study and the actual practical situations. The book is written in such a way that is easy for any working adult to gain quick insight to this important topic without much of the mathematical burden. It is extremely rewarding to use it as a working guide as well as reference to more difficult topics in real situations.I recommend this book to all Engineering undergrads in particular. ... Product Description
This work addresses the needs of managers from a wide range of disciplines with responsibility for the implementation of integrated business systems within a manufacturing company. It is designed to help support and underpin the decisions that such managers will have to take. Although many technical aspects of systems integration are covered, the primary objective is not to attempt an in-depth investigation into the technology used but rather to cover the process by which management can make the most of the technology available. Coverage includes an examination of existing systems and the evaluation of organizational needs, implementation and post-implementation issues, including security, personnel and legal implications. The book brings together technology and management issues in an accessible format. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Product Description
The aim of this book is to provide a rapid introduction to the C programming language. In a computing world that is increasingly full of C++ and Object Oriented methods, C still has an important role to play, particularly in the implementation of engineering and scientific calculations. This book is biased towards those features of C that make it useful for these types of application. This makes the book particularly relevant to students on various engineering and scientific courses where the role of C programming may range from being an important supportive topic to a core discipline.

Neither C nor any other programming language can be learned simply by reading about it.Consequently, each chapter is further divided into 'key points', or more focused sections that involve the reader in various programming activities guided by tutorial questions. These are accompanied by tutorial problems at the end of each chapter that aim to integrate the chapter topic into the wider framework of C programming and technical applications.

The two key features of this book are its focus on those aspects of C that are of most general use, and presentation of these features in a way that is particularly accessible by students on engineering and science based courses. The pace of the book is quite rapid, covering a lot of C functionality in a relatively small number of pages. This is achieved through concise but carefully thought-out explanations of key points. This approach is a strong contrast to the majority of books on C that typically run to several hundred pages and, consequently, require significant commitment from the reader. This is especially important when C programming may only be, perhaps, one of six subjects studied in a fifteen week semester. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Best Quick Review
This book did for me what no other computer language book (for any computer language) has been able to do.After several years of occasionally fooling around with C, I picked up this book and got almost all the way from cover to cover in just a few hours. At the end I grasped the basics of this language -- including some tough concepts like memory allocation and pointers to addresses, which I had not been able to fully understand before. The only problem I had was in the last chapter, when I was too worn out to understand the topic of linked lists. The similarly small sized reference book by Kernighan and Ritchie may be more complete but is too hard for me to get through. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars "An excellent, comprehensive reference guide to understanding, deploying, and sustaining a lean operation."
I highly recommend it to managers, practitioners, and front-line workers.Easy to follow and understand. The maturity matrix at the end is a great finishing point that motivates you to continue with your own operation!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The book was delivered very quickly and it was as described.I am very happy with the product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
From the opening pages, to the last, this book summed up how to take your plant and make it "lean."
I have used the guidelines in the book at work and it has seemed to work seemlessly.

The information was sound and true. If you are looking for a down to earth approach and a way to get it done, then get this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars A user looks at the guide after implementing Lean
This book is written in a lean manner. It is simple, common and easy to read. It describes ordinary things and ideas very clearly and with one purpose. This book provides all the roadmap, tools and insight needed to allow plants to achieve excellence. The authors take great pains to address common failures issues. They provide a single source handbook that any plant can understand and use, a source with example metrics and tools, with logic and simple ideas to prevent and overcome the daily issues faced by the team that implements Lean.

This is not a book that deals much about soft issues. It is not a fuzzy warm feeling book about the people side, nor is it a motivational "you can do it" book. It is a frank easy to read book about simple steps and simple ideas that make plants great. It explains the people issues and the fact that unless working teams make the decisions and changes Lean will not happen. It is a long book, more of handbook length, but much easier to read.

Lean Manufacturing: A Plant Floor Guide fills the space between a detailed "How To" text and an overview. It provides coverage of every key issue in moving to Lean Manufacturing, offering rationale, plans and encouragement.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great reference!
From understanding your customers needs, metrics, building a solid business case and launching a methodical process, this book has all the tools necessary for a sound lean transition.
Perhaps most importantly, it offers reliable advice on overcoming resistance and building an effective team. ... Read more
