There were other equally symmetrical theories,--those of Descartes, Leibnitz, Fichte, Schopenhauer. There was but one reason why this doctrine won for itself, for a season, the belief of the whole world; and this reason was, that the deductions of that philosophy winked at people's weaknesses. These deductions were summed up in this,--that every thing was reasonable, every thing good; and that no one was to blame.

Even then, amidst the tumult of his whirling emotions he had a sort of central calm, in which he noted the particulars of the occurrence with distinctness and precision. He had always supposed that if anything of the sort happened to him he would be greatly frightened, but he had not been at all frightened, so far as he could make out. His hair had not risen, or his cheek felt a chill; his heart had not lost or gained a beat in its pulsation; and his prime conclusion was that if the Mysteries had chosen him an agent in approaching the material world they had not made a mistake. This becomes grotesque in being put into words, but the words do not misrepresent, except by their inevitable excess, the mind in which Hewson rose, and flung open his shutters to let in the dawn upon the scene of the apparition, which he now perceived must have been, as it were, self-lighted. The robins were yelling from the trees and the sparrows bickering under them; catbirds were calling from the thickets of syringa, and in the nearest woods a hermit-thrush was ringing its crystal bells. The clear day was penetrating the east with the subtle light which precedes the sun, and a summer sweetness rose cool from the garden below, gray with dew.

Classrooms that Spark!
This is a great resource for new and used teachers. Organization is a challenge for me and this book is filled with very useful techniques to decrease the time wasted trying to locate something. I have enjoyed initiating several ideas. I have noticed when I am "together" everything flows better. Bloom's Taxonomy is clearly developed in this book for very practical use in the classroom. As we move toward the central core curriculum in education, our children will need more and more exposure to higher level thinking skills. Excellent
The Book Creative Resources for the Early Childhood Classroom is not only geared for classroom teachers but moms who are enthusiastic about finding fun ways for their children. As a parent and teacher, this book is now one of the handiest books in my library as it makes my lessons and thematic planning so much easier. I am also able to help my son with activities based on themes being done or things that he finds curious. I can help create that learning experience for him.

Excellent resource for teachers
My current center has this book for staff to use in the library and I loved it so much I ordered one for myself. It has a wide range of early childhood themes and includes planning webs for some ideas of how you can extend the theme and ideas for planting the theme into centers. It has some cute art/small group activities and songs/finger plays, but some topics have more than others or they may not be appropriate for your group and you'll need to find more elsewhere. However, the book and multimedia lists have been excellent and overall it has proven to be an excellent investment.

Great for Montessori Philosophy
This is all based around a montessori style educational philosophy.If you are into that, then this is a great resource for you.Unfortunately, I've been teaching way too long to find this effective.
