1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Enjoyed the written part on my Kindle, the written CD is useless...We could have received a CD in the mail we paid enough to have one. I would have to buy another book to get a
CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best!
This is absolutely the best meditation CD I have ever tried! Amazing, it works wonderfully.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good condition?
Just a short note that you shouldn't rate your items good condition when they are clearly falling apart!I am only keeping this item because I especially wanted the cd.But again, I was very disappointed in the condition of the book. The cd is in great shape though.

4-0 out of 5 stars CD Meditation too fast...slow down
I bought this book mainly for the meditation cd and it is a good one if only he would slow down. The visualization is fantastic but I feel like I want to say "wait a minute, I'm not there yet".His voice is calm and soothing and this would be one of my favorite meditation tapes if the pace was slower. The book itself was short and sweet but I enjoyed it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not Taoism...
By reading the very first 3 pages I realized that this book is not based upon Taoism. One of the first things that jumped out to me was a mention that "if you pray enough to a rock that rock will come to life before you." Not sure what point the author was trying to make but it is not Taoism.Taoism is about being at one with yourself and the world around you, so that you can be at one with The Way.You shouldn't be whorshipping rocks or any other matireal things for that matter. The next page talks about keeping your body free of toxins so that you can conjure gods within you, and that when our bodies are clean we have the ability to conjure 36,000 gods within us.Once again, not sure what on earth the author is talking about but it is not Taoism. This book should of have been named 365 Ming-dao Deng: Daily Mediations, because it just seems like randomness of the authors fanciful opinion. It is not the Tao.

4-0 out of 5 stars Meditation
We bought this book as the basis for a daily meditation. It works for that. The condition of the book was as advertised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best taoist/mindfulness book for everyone
I bought this book a couple of years ago and love it.The author has a calendar in back to match the readings to the date (for northern or southern hemispheres) in order to better match the reading to the time of year in the life cycle. You can also just pick readings from the the titles, for a specific stress with which you are currently coping (death, for example). It is more user friendly than the classic Tao translated texts, such as the Tao Te Ching. In short, it is great as a stand alone book for beginner or intermediate (and maybe even advanced, if you accept that the author may just be a contemporary Taoist master). Not available as an e-book, but I think that would be a wonderful format, as it should be part of a library you have with you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book
This is an amazing little book that will help keep life in perspective on a daily basis.Regardless of your religion, the one-page messages are timeless, thoughtful and practical, and are particularly useful in view of the constant flow of informational garbage that bombards our daily lives.

4-0 out of 5 stars 365 Tao: Daily Meditations
A useful book for those studying the Tao. A short saying and exposition for each day that helps bring the Tao into everyday life. ... Read more

Product Description
The practice of meditation takes us on a fabulous journey into the gap between our thoughts, where all the advantages of a more peaceful, stress-free, healthy, and fatigue-free life are available, but which are simply side benefits. The paramount reason for daily meditation is to get into the gap between our thoughts, and make conscious contact with the creative energy of life itself. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explains the soul-nourishing meditation technique for making conscious contact with God, which the ancient masters have told us about.

You have the potential to be an instrument of the highest good for all concerned and to be a literal miracle worker in your own life. No person, government, or religion can legitimately claim to do this for you. "In fact," says Dr. Dyer, "I agree with Carl Jung who said, 'One of the main functions of formalized religion is to protect people against a direct experience of God.'" When you master getting into the gap and staying there for prolonged segments of meditation, and experience what you bring back to the material world, you will know your answer to the question: "Why meditate?" ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A wise teacher
Wayne Dyer's down-to-earth wisdom is inspiring and meaningful for an everyday full life. He shows us how to listen more clearly to our inner wisdom and how to live more serenely (with humor) in the moment. As a metaphysician myself, I am keenly in reverence of his asute insights into the spiritual nature of our physical lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Getting In The Gap
Absolutely fantastic. I never knew anything about meditating or what you should expect once you begin. I was "in the gap" after the very first session - and can't wait to find time to do so everyday. The book is short but has a powerful message. To me, the real deal is the guided sessions on the included cd. I put it on my iPod immediately.

Thank you Wayne Dyer!

2-0 out of 5 stars Where is the CD that was promised with this book?
I recieved this book in the mail today. I am pleased with the book and quickly read it. The people buying this book think its a meditation book.Boy did they get fooled. Most of the book is about paranormal concepts like "spiritual guides" and "karma" and praying. That is fine and dandy, but the author should not pretend the book is about meditation. If your looking for superstitious concepts from Buddhism you will like the book.If your looking for meditation you will be gravely dissapointed. He covers only one meditation the whole book and barely even explains it.

3-0 out of 5 stars the best guide to meditation
this is another book in my stock of books that i've haven't read yet. but i have good expectations of its contents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding the basics
For someone such as myself who had very little knowledge about meditation or how to get started, this book provides you with a "brief" overview on the many styles (accompanied by practical examples)of meditation, predominately Eastern. This book has now given me enough information to investigate more deeply into the styles of meditation that appeal to me. For those starting out, or those who are looking to investigate and obtain a brief overview on other styles of meditation, I would certainly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive, easy to understand meditation book
I started with Mr. Davich's later book, "8 minute meditation" and enjoyed it so much that I sought this one out. I wasn't disappointed. It is a comprehensive book on many forms of meditation. And it is written in the clear, easy to understand manner that his other books are. I really recommend this to anyone looking to deepen their knowledge of meditation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book like new
The book was shipped immediately after placing the order. As promised, the book arrived in "like new" condition. Great service! Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank Heaven for Descartes
When I was in the midst of my educational pursuits, I took my first course in philosophy. One day my professor stumped the class with the question: "What do humans have that is distinct from non-human animals? Is there anything unique about humans?" The professor then contended that when one surveys all animal species there isn't anything fully unique about mankind. Although the class tried, no one was able to mount an effective argument that refuted his premise.

Nevertheless, one thing that human beings do that no other species attempts is epistemology: asking how we know what we know. The whole mass of the animal world lacks the ability to build an epistemic view.

And Rene Descartes was one of the chief thinkers who helped birth modern epistemology. Descartes aspired to set in motion human knowledge afresh through finding a place to ground indubitable knowledge. He sought to thrust aside the collected mass of rational predispositions, preconceptions, prejudices, partialities, and biases of the past and construct form the epistemic ground up, constructing one logical certainty upon another.

Descartes was mathematician; philosopher and a true mastermind in the early epistemological pursuits as he embraced dualism. Additionally he's the author of the controversial: "I think therefore I am" formulation; since I am thinking, I must exist. His aim was to find an immovable impossibility of the contrary foundation as the starting point within a fuller epistemic scheme. Most, from all epistemic schools, believe that Descartes failed and at best made a case for solipsism.Nonetheless his work helped launch countless valuable epistemological pursuits.

Furthermore many admire his ontological argument for the existence of God, although Plantinga has recently devised a much more potent OAFEG.

Descartes was a central and essential pioneer of modern epistemology and mathematics; the world would be much inferior without his exceptional, yet dated, work.

* Epistemology: Thestudyofhowweknowwhatweknow, the nature and basis of knowledge, the accounting and justifying of knowledge claims, and the sources and scope of knowledge. Epistemology explores the question: What do men ordinarily denote when they say that they `know' something?

* Laws of Logic: Abstract, non-concrete laws of thought and reason that are nonmaterial, universal, obligatory, and absolute. All rational communication and thinking assume the laws of logic. The most well known law is the law of non-contradiction: A cannot be A and not-A at the same time in the same way. A man cannot be his own father. The laws of logic reflect the nature and mind of God; thus, they have ontological grounding--that is, they are grounded in the very nature of truth itself and cannot bereducedtohumanconvention, opinion, orpsychology. Reject the laws of logic, including the law of non-contradiction, and rational thinking is impossible. To deny the law, one must use the law in attempting to deny it. Those who deny logic are participating in a self-refuting effort.

Buy this, ruminate over Descartes' assertions, and expand your own epistemic method.

Product Description
In this "unexpected delight,"* filmmaker David Lynch describes his personal methods of capturing and working with ideas, and the immense creative benefits he has experienced from the practice of meditation.

Now in a beautiful paperback edition, David Lynch'sCatching the Big Fish provides a rare window into the internationally acclaimed filmmaker's methods as an artist, his personal working style, and the immense creative benefits he has experienced from the practice of meditation.

Catching the Big Fish comes as a revelation to the legion of fans who have longed to better understand Lynch's personal vision. And it is equally compelling to those who wonder how they can nurture their own creativity.

Catching Ideas

Ideas are like fish.

If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper.

Down deep, the fish are more powerful and more pure. They're huge and abstract. And they're very beautiful.

I look for a certain kind of fish that is important to me, one that can translate to cinema. But there are all kinds of fish swimming down there. There are fish for business, fish for sports. There are fish for everything.

Everything, anything that is a thing, comes up from the deepest level. Modern physics calls that level the Unified Field. The more your consciousness-your awareness-is expanded, the deeper you go toward this source, and the bigger the fish you can catch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pearl After Pearl After Pearl of Wisdom
You will quickly find that the author is a big believer in transcendental meditation. To him it is the fix all for the world's problems.I really enjoyed engaging a conversation with the Mr. Lynch throughout the book.As he quotes, the world is as you are.If you read this book with a limited view you will get very little out of it. That is okay.Read it once and put it away. Then pick it up again and see ifyou can't find another pearl of wisdom in it.Better yet, go to the library and get the audiobook version.Having Mr. Lynch converse with you is wonderful.

If you are looking for a book about how to use TM - this isn't it.
If you are looking for a book about how TM can help you in your creative process this is it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Si tienes curiosidad en Meditacion...

1-0 out of 5 stars You won't even catch a small fish with this book
This book should really have been an article in a film magazine, its that short.I was hoping that there would be a lot of information regarding TM, but there wasn't any.As others have noted the book is really just ramblings about how great LA is, and how he gets ideas for his films, seemingly by just shooting from the hip and trial and error.Actually I'm shocked at how uncreative the thought process in this book is.If TM is really the key then why can't he share it with everyone. The whole [...] and David Lynch seem to be keeping it a secret so you can go to their website and pay $1,500 to learn how to do it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity
This book is not about Meditation, it's about David Lynch. If Lynch Meditated for 30 years, why is he still a chain smoker???

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Interesting
Lynch is a cutting edge artist whose films have become increasingly interesting overtime. This little text is a collection of fragments and reflections regarding his life as a creative artist and his relationship to transcendental meditation. Lynch finds an ocean of abstract ideas in the 'unified consciousness' provided through the technique of TM. There are plenty of useful anecdotes here-both on meditating and the creative life in general. Lynch is clearly a somewhat solipsistic man, but his work continues to expand in beauty and creative depth so he must be doing something right. As he points out, 'he's not very good with words,' so this little book is not exactly a robustly analytic exegesis of his process, but it still provides some fascinating insights all the same. ... Product Description

Chakras are a series of seven energy centers running from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each one operates as a hub for the vital energy that flows through the human body, and is important to certain aspects of personal well-being, such as remaining clam, sexual energy, and an open mind. This comprehensive guide explains the seven major chakras in-depth, as well as the often overlooked minor chakras associated with them. Each beautifully illustrated chapter looks at different kinds of meditation.  Techniques covered include walking meditations and techniques to help tune in to these centers: emotion-based visualizations, a rose meditation, and even a singing meditation and a Sufi whirling exercise.

5-0 out of 5 stars a stunning and dynamic book
This book is complete, informative and visually stunning. It is useful for beginners as well as for those who have been in tune with Chakras for years. Taken chakra by chakra, it offers a complete course in everything you want to / need to know about each chakra without seeming too esoteric or preachy. Each chapter is remarkable. I liked it so much I ordered two more to share with friends as I didn't want to let mine out of my house. I then wrote to the author to ask that the illustrations be made available and she wrote back telling me that they will be available on cards in November. I immediately pre-ordered two sets!
I use the meditations in this book daily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best all-around introduction product on meditation
There are plenty of medication products on the market. CDs seem to be the most popular.A number of products are geared toward the amateur meditators. Others are geared toward the advanced practitioners. This specific product is geared toward the first type.

It is a great gift for friends and family, for people who are interested in learning more about meditation and how it helps the body and the mind. The two hosts of the program are articulate, clear to understand and entertaining. They provide great examples of how to use your mind to change your brain, how to influence your happiness, the foundations of good meditation and how to use them to your advantage.

There are 3 CDs, but think of them as 3 steps to the meditation learning process:
1) What mediation is
2) How to use it
3) How to excel at it

I highly recommend this product since in my opinion it has the necessary pieces to succeed at mediation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good food for the educated skeptic!
After almost 30 years as a practicing and teaching psychologist, I'm a bit snobby when it comes to new (to me), New-Agey, or "spiritual" stuff, especially if it is becoming increasingly popular. This set of CDs is just the thing for me: nice guided meditations for the just-past-beginner, plus decent neuroscience research well-explained, minus snake-oil hype.I dumped all tracks into iTunes, so I could listen anywhere on my iPhone.Only problem: tracks are poorly labeled, so that finding my way around amongst guided meditations and lectures is unnecessarily tedious and irritating.

5-0 out of 5 stars great CD's!
I love these meditation CD's. I am a huge fan of Rick Hanson, and these CD's are another really powerful aid in becoming a happier, more focused, more loving person. I agree with another reviewer that it would have been nice if the outer cover had the CD's contents on them, but it is such a minor point - it's no big deal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gound Breaking Material
I've been dealing with chronic anxiety for the past 30 years.I have found this group of CD's to be incredibly helpful. It explains some of the evolutionary processes that have contributed to our survival anxiety and takes a lot of the mystery out of this free floating anxiety. Also, I have been working with cognitive therapy for some years which is a wonderful way of dealing with anxiety and depression and controlling what you can to overcome these forms of suffering."Meditations to Change Your Brain" explains the actual physical changes to your brain that cause changes in our mind, which is what we have been doing with cog therapy. The exercises and information are presented in a gentle and sensitive way and have taken me even further in the direction of health and happiness. You have assisted me in getting my mind, body and spirit in sync and the resulting peace is incredible.Thank you sirs for HOPE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars In depth blend of Western Psychology and Brain Biology with eastern Quantum Physics
The two authors of this audio book wrote a very thorough explanation of how ego and psyche and the brain all work, and how to fix the problems. The Introduction is nice and long, and very thorough and detailed. They are fond of saying, "Change your mind to change your brain to change your mind."

But the introduction to this set of 3 CDs is a lot like a textbook.I find that at the same time that I am hearing extremely important, totally new concepts, which are hard to "get" in the first place, I am having a hard time paying attention. It's just dry.Plus, one of the authors is a much better speaker than the other... It might have been better to hire voice actors or professional readers, because the authors are clearly reading from their own scripts, and seem to be so uncomfortable with speaking into a microphone, that at times they don't even sound like they are familiar with the material that they wrote themselves!
They just don't sound confident in the material, or relaxed about conveying it.

I have heard few Audiobooks that rise to the level of "The Secret."Even if you don't agree with everything in that book, "The Secret" CDs are spectacular with production value, the music, the number or authors and experts who do sound great on CD, the overall impact...The Secret is the best audiobook I have ever heard for those reasons.I wish more Audiobooks sounded like that.

I will update this soon with a review on the Meditations themselves!

TECHNICAL ASPECTS of the CDs
During the Introduction, each track is much too LONG!The topics and subjects change several times during each and every track! There have been many times when I would have loved to hit the skip back button on the player, but I realized that's impossible, unless I want to listen to about 18 minutes that I did hear, to get to the last 3 minutes I missed.

The sound quality is 100% - very clean and professional.

The cardboard album case is flimsy and doesn't really close. It would be impossible to bring it in a car.Dust would get in and the CDs would fall out constantly.I had to put the CDs in my zipper case to hear the introduction in my car.(Of course, the meditations can't be done while driving.) ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Weil is great, but who is this Kabat-Zinn?
I love Weil's soothing voice and articulate sentences that flow naturally and motivates as well as guides us throught meditation.

But the other one, Kabat-Zinn, has a chest-breathing voice, sounds shallow and too high-pitch... then he doesn't know how to punctuate his sentences, grouping words together, then making a pause between key words that leave you anxious to get the next word... The content is valid, but his way of transmitting is just horrible.
I couldn't stand his voice, although succeeded to listen to the whole thing.
The guided meditation is done by him, so I can forget about it; NO WAY I'm relaxing with him!

It's a shame, had Weil did it alone, it would have be a great piece of work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD
I bought this along with a new CD player for my wife. She loves the CD.

1-0 out of 5 stars I'd pass on this one

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have!
This book has been more than what I hoped. A friend read a few excerpts from her copy and I decided to get one for myself. This is better than any daily devotional or short form inspirational book I've ever had next to my bed. There's not a daily life struggle that he doesn't address. It's truly a must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars Heart, Soul and Mind Connection
This book is a profound revealation of the connection between the heart, soul and mind. Howard Thurman is a prolific writer, scholar, and intuitive who seemed to have a direct line to the Universal Spirit. It is not a book that is to be stored on the shelf as one can read it again and again and each time it would have new meaning for the reader. His meditations are truly from the depths of his heart. Highly recommended!

From life, love, race, death, pain and joy, this book is a must read for the poet and the seeker of the very heart of God alike. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it
This is the third series of CDs I buy from Dr. Jeffrey Thompson.I really enjoy meditating with this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Theta Meditation System
I purchased this CD on the recommendation of a close friend who had been using the CD.It definitely helps calm the mind and allows one to go into a deeper meditative state. It achieves what I hoped for and I use it several times a week when I am needing a more relaxed and pensive state. Highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars Theta Meditation System
Two CD's were included in this set. They were not the original CD's which shouldhave come under this title.I am very disappointed with this order and I cannot find a way to return it via the website.

2-0 out of 5 stars mostly noise
When you read something like "Renew Your Spirit, Gain Insight, and Intuition" it should immediately raise the red flag. Somebody is selling snake oil in mp3 format. This so called music is more of an annoying noise. Do yourself a favor spend that money on some quality classical music. You'll get a whole lot more enjoyment.

5-0 out of 5 stars really great destressing easy

Landscape Meditations examines the process of capturing a sense of place through a series of views of a single landscape subject, like Van Gogh did with sunflowers or Monet did with haystacks and cathedrals. Topics explored include using mist, wildflowers, the beach, fields, trees, and roads and pathways. Each of these topics begins with a brief introduction to the specific theme, followed by paintings that show the progression of the idea being explored. A concluding discussion provides artists with further thoughts about how the theme might apply to their work. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Landscape Meditations by Elizabeth Mowry

I have recently taken up pastel painting and attended classes.I always share my books with classmates and we do learn quite a lot from them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great inspiration for artists
This book is full of beautiful paintings and great ideas on painting.Mowry does a great job writing about her inspiration for painting and discusses ways you improve your paintings.A great book for anyone interested in landscape art.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth Mowry
Elizabeth Mowry's pastel books are an inspiration, not just for her beautiful artworks but for her choice of poetry and meditations. The colours set the moods and the words give pause for thought. Wonderful books, especially Landscape Meditations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth Mowrey's "Landscape Meditations"
It was my privilege to recently obtain a copy of Elizabeth Mowrey's latest book, "Landscape Meditations." I thorougly enjoyed her two earlier books and eagerly looked forward to receiving this one. I was not disappointed! This is not a "how to" or a "look what I did" book. As in her earlier books, she teaches us more of a philosophical even spiritual approach to artistic expression. To those of us that can't approach her talent, she lets us glimpse how a true artist thinks. I especially appreciated her sense of place in her paintings which to me is akin to the writings of Wendell Berry. Her writing and, of course, her wonderful oil pastels are good for the soul.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, magical book!
When you are weary from toiling over your masterpiece, you must grab this book by Elizabeth Mowry, curl up in your favorite spot and just enjoy this wonderful book. The author & artist wants you to get involved with your painting and learn to FEEL what your eyes see, so that what you put on paper is part of yourself. It's your story, your vision of life. Ms. Mowry is a very talented artist who shares with the reader her thoughts & ideas that went into the many beautiful paintings she rendered in pastels & some in oils. The book is so beautifully done, with many, many beautiful landscapes she painted during her travels all over the world and her narrative about her travels and her personal thoughts about the many scenes she painted, that I didn't realize until I got well into the book that she was also giving the reader many valuable lessons in such things as structure of a painting, light source, theme painting, & individualizing one's work. Wow, what a book. It's a joy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource
This book and CD are priceless if you are finding your way with Lam Rim practice.I have used it every day and find it easy to use and follow and it relates to whatever stage of the path you are up to.I put the CD onto my Ipod and take it with me everywhere I go just in case I have a few minutes spare.
The only comment I would add is that it's a shame none of prayers etc have a Sanskrit version.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buddhist Must-Have
Oh I wish Ani Chodron came out with this CD earlier in my life. These guided meditations are to the point and well narrated.I would put this as one of the most important purchase among my hundreds.I "try" to follow Karma Kagyu lineage which also has Kadampa teaching as basis.Without the base, it is just a house of cards.Ani Chodron's Lam Rim CD makes "Four thoughts turning the mind" meditations easy.I just focus on a few.I still remember reading Chagdud Tulku's books years ago on how one should meditate and then at the end rest in the natural state without attempt trying to improve the mind as long or short as one inclines. This CD is perfect for guidance.I wish there will be more products like this coming from all lineages.Thank you!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
This is as good as it gets, not only for beginners, but for everyone who wants a concise reference for Lamrim meditations. Not only is there an excellent book provided, which thoroughly explains the benefits of meditation, it also includes 14+ hours of guided and easy-to-use meditations on an mp3 CD and is approved by the Dalai Lama.

Chodron's book is clear and easy to understand and the approximate 40 meditations on the included CD are easy to follow and delivered with extraordinary warmth, combining to yield a most effective outcome. There is enough material here for in-depth learning and practice of genuine Buddhist meditation techniques if you so choose to take advantage of all of its contents, or if a brief meditation experience is all that is required, there are short and basic techniques provided as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars George Feurestein, Manalda Magazine, and the Feminist Review
"Ven. Chodron is well known for her many clear writings. As the CD shows, she also has a clear, gentle, and calm voice, which makes the selected meditations on the Stages of the Path a delight and also very positive to listen to.... If the graduated path, as the lam rim approach is also called, has proven helpful to countless generations of monastics, it is even more important to modern Western lay practitioners, who are dealing with a good many more challenges and distractions. I can recommend without reservation both Ven. Chodron's book and the audiorecording, which generously extends over 14 hours."--Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D.

"Listen and learn as the lighthearted, happy, kind voice of Bikshuni Thubten Chodron guides us along the gradual path to enlightenment. Yes, this wonderful 224-page book is accompanied by a fourteen-hour MP3 CD with no less than 46 meditations! How often have we heard a teacher describe the teachings of the lam-rim and gone away wondering how to put them into practice--and here is a way to actually experience them. No more excuses: Soon the rhythm of meditating becomes as habitual and essential as the morning cuppa. Are you working with distractions? Dealing with mental afflictions? Distinctly possible under this gentle, kindly guidance."--Mandala

"I have found few guides through the sometimes-complex practices of Tibetan Buddhism that are this thorough, accessible, and practical. The questions Chodron presents throughout the book and MP3 CD are the types of questions you might want to tape to your bathroom mirror, and she provides enough of them that you could easily start your day contemplating a different question for months. This is not the sort of book that requires a sequential reading; it is superbly organized to provide quick and easy access to any of the concepts you are currently working with, and there is plenty for those at each stage of the path. Even if you are not strictly a student of Tibetan Buddhism, there are enough core spiritual and ethical concepts covered in this book as to make it a worthwhile read for anyone...whatever your primary spiritual practice."--The Feminist Review

5-0 out of 5 stars The Missing Link to Establishing a Daily Meditation Practice
The guided meditation mp3 CD in this book was the missing link I had been looking for in establishing a daily meditation practice. Thubten Chodron communicates the practical benefits of Buddhist teachings more effectively than anyone I've read and each of these guided meditations focuses on drawing connections between Buddhist principles and everyday situations. Distributing over 14 hours of guided meditations on one CD accompanying this hardbound volume provides an invaluable tool at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. If you have any hesitation at all about ordering this book and mp3 CD, visit thubtenchodron.org and listen to one of the author's talks or read one of her essays. Discover for yourself whether or not her down to earth approach is right for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, easy, connecting
Wow! Cutting through to the core of our soul and womanhood! My current favorite. Unique, easy, focused practices that are powerful, effective, greatest personal clarity, and especially for connecting with the cosmos. I often run into my kundalini yoga teacher at the most unexpected locations when I practice these postures/mantras as well as finding out whose soul - family, friends, acquaintances - is in tune with me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvellous
This is a wonderful book about meditation. It explains it so clearly, in language so carefully chosen that you will understand everything. It doesn't matter if you have practiced yoga kundalini or not, you will find it so useful and so inspiring to carry out meditations every single day. I recommend it to every woman everywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars It works!
I was nervous getting this book - I'm not really the "meditation" type person. But I was feeling stressed out as a working mom and felt I needed to try something, and this really was helpful.I have a hard time dedicating the time to use it, but when I do the effect is significant.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Good for the Brain!
I enjoyed this book.It is not only about meditation, but you learn a lot of yoga techniques. You learn the correct way to sit, breath, and hense you open the door to meditation.I thought the breathing techniques were great as physically you feel wonderful after learning how to breath correctly.Once you get the basics down, you are ready to do some serious meditation. It's fun and it helped me greatly.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must-have book
I've done yoga for the past ten years and love the more physical styles of yoga - ashtanga and other vinyasa based practices. This book is something completely different. The mediations seem to work from the inside out and are amazingly transformative. I can't imagine anyone doing even 11 minutes of any one of these meditations without noticing the effect. And 11 minutes isn't as easy as it sounds. Clearly the author has tremendous knowledge and she makes even the more complicated meditations easy to understand and perform at home.
