5-0 out of 5 stars 5 star plus!
The best book ever for Nursing care plans.I used it today and love how good it makes me look! It is easy to use.I am happy that I found this book.It will make my last year of nuring school much easier!

5-0 out of 5 stars textbook size and helpful
this book was very helpful in learning how to put a care plan and nursing diagonsis together. It would be good for a classroom or study setting. it is not an easy size to carry to a clinic or hospital setting although it would be a great book to have at a nursing station to referance.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay, but I've used better...
This book has great info in it, but it is organized very oddly, which makes it difficult to find exactly what your looking for, I ended up purchasing another (Mosby's) care planning book that I found to be way more helpful and easier to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book came in good condition
The seller shipped out the item in a very prompt manner.Made sure the book was sent to us in a very new condition. Thanks seller.

Bunches of books sent me the incorrect book, however they did refund the
cost of mailing the book back to them.It was an inconvenience to have
to send it back as the book they sent me was quite heavy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lazy way to an "A"
Just completed my first semester of Nursing school, and could've scored a "B" using just this book and all the other online content assigned to class. This means I could've avoided reading the main textbook by Craven altogether! Our teacher was heavy on Nursing Behavior and light on Patient Pathology. This book did a much better job than the main text for test preparation. Each chapter has 20 questions with rationales, but the CD adds another 30 NCLEX questions per chapter, so over 500 questions total included.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great questions
I am using this book to help me for my Fundamentals nursing class. The questions are really great as well as the rationales. There are 20 questions per chapter, as well as 10 more on the CD (per chapter). It also has a nice review of the section that the questions are based on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice
My instructor recommended this book to the class and I bought it right away. I think this is the best money I have ever spent on books. I got A on my tests and was able to understand and get to the key concepts faster, rather than reading tons and tons of material from the textbook. Thank you very much Mary Ann Hogan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Created for the nursing students in OBGYN rotation
This book is very intuitive, organized and informative. As a nursing student, i found it contained the most pertinent information for my OBGYN rotation. I did not spend any time reading my text book because this book covers the "need to know" information about maternal-newborn nursing. The pre and post tests were invaluable. The rationals were very informative. I would highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars great addition to my study materials
the layout and easy to read chapters included in this text has made a great addition to my study material.

5-0 out of 5 stars ANY OB/MAT Student NEEDS this book!!!
A must-have for doing your OB/MAT rotations and lecture. This book utilized a few different resources so you are getting the most important info from resources compounded and easy to read. Questions are okay, but the text alone is beyond being both resourceful and structured. A MUST HAVE for sure! (I told my MAT professor this book, she was using a different OB book from the one that our school made us buy. She even purchased this book, PLUS, I made out even more because this book utilized the one she used for class and the one the school had us use!!)

GREAT BOOK. All the Prentice Nursing books ROCK!! Good luck fellow nurse-students!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Maternal-Newborn Review & Rationale
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. It is an easy read and pulls the important stuff the instructor is looking for and condenses everything for you. It is not a replacement for the textbook but when you are overwhelmed and quickly need something to give you the understanding of a concept this book does that. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars horrible
this book was ridiculous, it has neon color highlights in all 3 sides of the book with the name, " JENNIFER PATTERSON GRACE", with the binding about to fall apart, and the rest of the book is highlighted randomly. this is my first time buying a book from someone online, and i will NEVER NEVER buy from this person again!!!!! who even highlights all over their book like that in the 3 sides of the book and expect to sell it ?!?! i should have known. total rip off! i cant even study from it cause i get so distracted by it!

4-0 out of 5 stars slight hitch but still delivered in time for class
SO the sender accidently switched my book with another, but after I contacted him, he sent me money to forward the book to the person it was supposed to go to and I received my book from that person within a few days of sending my book, just in time for the first day of classes. No complaints, sender was very appologetic and nice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Workbook without room to write
I purchased this study guide along with the textbook.I never got past the first chapter because it is supposed to be the type of book that you write your answers to the questions under the question itself but they do not provide even close to the amount of space needed to write an answer. So, you have to write them in a notebook and if you want everything in front of you at once, you have to rewrite the questions!VERY frustrating!I admit, I cannot speak to the content anymore than that because I quit using it before I was done with the first chapter.

5-0 out of 5 stars nursing book
bought this for my dauhgter who is studying to be a nurse, and she said it seems to be a good book and helpful

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst self help self testing book
This was "recommended" by my nursing faculty. The problem is, the answers are not in the book, you have to find the teachers copy to check yourself! This is stupid! I live 1 hour away from school and my instructers wern't even sure they had an answer book. How can you learn by "self testing" if you can't check your own answers in a timely manner. Useless.

3-0 out of 5 stars Study Guide and Skills Performance Checklist for Fundamentals of Nursing

1-0 out of 5 stars Be sorry if this book is required- otherwise don't buy this book
This book is highly contradictory and badly written. The book has 24 different authors (even though it says only two on the cover), usually one for each chapter, and I don't believe the chapters were reviewed for consistency and possible discrepancies before the chapters were thrown together.I had to have this book for nursing school and this book did not help me at all.A waste of money- all it's really good for is toilet paper when you're out...

4-0 out of 5 stars very good service
Can't really say I love item as it was for school but services were great and arrived timely in great condition, saved me lots of money. Thanks

4-0 out of 5 stars Used, but in decent condition.
This book was definitely used, but still in good condition. Arrived in a few weeks.

2-0 out of 5 stars only if its required...
This book was required for the community health class in my nursing school. It is not very concise, the text is written in such a way as to be very conversational. I prefer books that present the facts without extra fluff (concise). Because of the way its written, studying is made more time consuming, because I have to ferret out the relevant information. Otherwise, some of the concepts are not thoroughly explained/defined, but in general its a so-so book. The verdict: only buy it if you have to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Community Health and Public nursing Book

3-0 out of 5 stars Nursing Book
This book has some good information in it. It has answers for just about any breastfeeding issue you would have. However I did feel that the author had an attitude that her way was the only way. She talks about feeding on demand and with twins that was just not possible for me and for the average mother we need some sort of schedule. I wish it would have had more information on breastfeeding twins as well. Very straight forward book with factual information. Not a whole lot of personality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every question is answered in this book
I received a small excerpt of this book from the hospital when I gave birth to my daughter.I kept referring to it in the early days of her life and decided to purchase the entire book.I used to reference this book in the middle of the night when my daughter wasn't nursing right.Every question I had about nursing was answered every time I opened this book.I have never read such a resourceful book - especially when the most important thing you need in the early days of being a new mom is support! This book will give you that and more!I referenced this book up until the time my daughter stopped nursing at 15 months - The Nursing Mother's Companion was a vital part of our successful breastfeeding experience. I am an RN, and I would recommend this book to any mom-to-be that is even just considering breastfeeding her baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend
This book is a must have for all nursing mothers. It is very informative, helpful, and easy to read.It has helped me through a few little bumps in the road I've had while breastfeeding my daughter.I've reached for this book many times since I had my baby four months ago, and would definately recommend this to any new mother.

5-0 out of 5 stars a total necessity!
This book has been so helpful in my breastfeeding journey. My son is 3 mo. old and I still reference the book when I have questions or concerns. It is very easy to read and has some of the best information on breastfeeding that is available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome reference tool.
This book was purchased for me by a friend. I have since purchased copies for other friends to pass on the great information. This is the perfect book to find solutions or tips on nursing. It's not necessary to read it from cover to cover unless you want to. You can easily search for the topic you're most interested in or by the age of the infant. My son is eight months old and I still reference this quite often. Fabulous book! ... Read more

I work on a team that develops special geriatric healthcare programs and I bought this book to help me with my new job. This book has already been extremely helpful in my work. It's easy to read and understand. My only criticism is that sometimes I wish it was a little more in depth or detailed, but that might just be me and my thirst for knowledge. 3-0 out of 5 stars A simple workbook- gets the job done with a variety of methods
Utilizes fill-in-the-blanks, multiple choice, crosswords, and matching exercises to review vocabulary, terms and concepts. There are also "independent learning activities" which are questions and suggestions to discover in your local community (as far resources, job descriptions, etc. Each chapter has 5 to 8 pages of practice.Nothing too challenging.

5-0 out of 5 stars Textbook for school
I needed to get this textbook (& the workbook) for nursing class. The school offered them for 30% more and didn't have the textbook. I was able to get them in 2 days, one day before class started, and saved some money! Thanks Amazon!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not happy with purchase ! Wrong Book send ! Not recommended !
I was not happy, with this purchase, because when I was ordering the textbook, it was not clearly stated that there was a workbook, and a textbook ! The photo provided, was so small, I could not see the difference.THE COVERS ARE VERY IDENTICAL.

The only one litte difference on the cover of he workbook and the textbook is one little blue line right at the top about 1/2 an inch which says workbook.ON A SMALL PHOTO IT IS NOT VERY CLEAR ! So I did not have a lot of money as an student, and wasted $16.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW THE ISBN # FOR THE TEXTBOOK IS 978-0-323-04994-8
The reason why I did not bother with an refund, is a previous order said, they are a hassle to get your money back !!

Will I recommend this person,definitly NOT !!!

Health Science Library Editor's Recommendation

This is an excellent text however we recommend Physical Signs in Medicine and Surgery: An Atlas of Rare, Lost and Forgotten Physical Signs as it is the most comprehensive resource available for practitioners and students in the clinical fields. Whether you are studying medicine, dentistry, nursing, or veterinary science the answers to even the most difficult diagnosis are in this Atlas. After you begin to use it, it can replace a half dozen books that cover physical signs. This awesome clinical text and a scut monkey house manual are all you will need for even the toughest residency and you will continue to reference it for years into the future. It is the - Must Have Book - for learning differential diagnosis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nursing Diagnosis 13th Edition was exactly what I wanted
The handbook is nice and small and pretty much has the exact same info. You have to reference to other pages, but it is exactly the same.I use it when in class or in clinical, but when at home it is easier to use the larger sized edition just because it folds open easier when referencing pages. You'll love it for ease and simple ability to carry home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good book.
This book is one of the best i've seen when it comes to Medical Surgical Nursing. It gives you the definition and why it happened, theprognosis, treatment, hallmark signs and sypmtpoms, tests, nursing diagnoses, and the nursing interventions. Very good to prepare for clinicals and when writing care plans, best of all it is easy to understand and simple, not long like the usual Med-Surg books. I recommend this to use before clinicals and when reviewing for exams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Near and dear to my heart's desires! Buy it!
This book is incredible to me. The reason I purchased it is because I am most interested in the psychological aspects of families and coping as they relate to nursing in general. I am currently searching for an area in which to pursue a Ph.D., and I feel this book is going to give me a lot of insight. It seems that some people who purchased this book previously had nothing but complaints, but I would think it was because they were required to purchase it for a class. As far as actual nursing PRACTICE after graduation, the book is not quite as pertinent as, say, a med-surg nursing book. But I would compare it to a psych nursing book or would definitely recommend it as a needed component of a pediatric or geriatric class along with another book that talks about the physiological aspects of nursing those populations. I truly am glad this book was written and am very happy to have found it on Amazon. I think it covers a very needed aspect of nursing that may too often be neglected in educating our nurses in school! LOVE IT!!!
