5-0 out of 5 stars Good Idea's
I like this book because it helps me be creative with my 4 year old and 2 year old.

I also got it because a few moms and I do a pre-school, and take turns at our houses. This is a great book for pre-school.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved the book
This is a wonderful refernce guide. The lessons are well layed out and extremly helpful, however, a little long. We would make one lesson plan last for at least one week usually two. At pre-school age it's hard to do expect long lessons. I would recomend this book to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best single pre-school resource
I bought my 1st copy 13 years ago when my girls were 1, 2.5,& 4. I went through 2 copies on them. In my opinion this book is the best sanity-saver for parents of multiple small children. The complete activityplans and varied themes make planning a snap and the children loved everyone. I would often use just sections for a wet or cold day and when I wascalled last minute for SundaySchool I could draw on this book knowing itwould be a success. I am buying a 4th copy for a friend with 2yr oldtriplets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teach Me Mommy
This book is wonderful for mothers seeking to preschool their children at home. It's very comprehensive. The subjects are in sensible order and each lesson is laid out so that planning and presentation are very simple. We have enjoyed it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great guide for home preschooling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
I am a huge fan of the Joy Berry Classic series. All the books are well written and appropriately geared for toddlers to keep their attention. My 2 year old loves to read this book and talks about the girl yawning and going night night with her kitty. It has helped to teach her about bedtime routines. The books are sturdy and well written and my daughter loves to look at the pictures. The CD is great too. I highly recommend this book series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice book to teach toddlers about bathtime
I highly recommend this book (and the entire Joy Berry Classic "Teach me About" series). The pictures are cute and the words are nice and simple. It is able to keep my 2 year old daughters attention. The subject matters are very age appropriate and I know that she is learning important social and environmental skills while having fun doing it. I think these books are a wonderful tool!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty lame
Someone gave me this book and another from the series (Mealtime). While I applaud the concept of books that teach children about appropriate behavior, I have a very low opinion of these books and can not recommend them.
The writing is very uninspiring. "I do not want to get my clothes wet.I take my clothes off.I want to get my body clean." Maybe this type of language could be good for early readers but the version I have is a board book (for babies!) and I choose not to talk to my baby like she's an idiot with a rudimentary IQ.
The illustrations are also uninspired. They are neither colorful, nor interesting, nor beautiful. They look like a terrible textbook from the 80s.
Overall, these books are so boring that I have no interest in reading them. My daughter (now 1 yr old) is clearly unimpressed. She never selects them for me to read to her (as she does with other books) and she never sits and turns through the pages.
There must be other books out there that teach meaningful life lessons but come packaged in an artistic and clever book.
Sorry to be so negative but in my opinion, these books are boring and lame. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This book is OK
This book goes through practical activities for infants and toddlers. It begins with a section on development and learning, and follows with simple activities to help develop emotional, social, cognitive, language, gross and fine motor skills.I thought it was a little oversimplified for professional use (I am a therapist), but it has some good ideas if you are a new parent or trying to set up a daycare/Sunday school/play group type of environment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great took to introduce potty training for 2 year old
My daughter just turned 2 and we are starting to learn about potty training. The pictures in this book keep her interested. The words are simple and direct and I am able to keep her attention. She is becoming more and more interested in potty training thanks to this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars informative, a little too repetitive
my son was not very interested in this book, but as I read it, it helped give me more of an idea about how to breakdown the potty training into very simplistic points for him to understand.

4-0 out of 5 stars potty training for my 2 year old
This is a great instructional tool for children learning to potty train. The sentences are short and factual and the illustrations are simple and show what the text is talking about. My son wasn't overly involved/interested in this book, but he did listen to it and he is starting to stay dry longer and use the potty more. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING PROGRAM!
As a first-time homeschooler, I bought way too much curricula to start teaching a kindergartner. Turns out, for teaching reading and writing, all I really needed, to start out, was this book! It's incredibly easy to teach, and while it begins slowly, it's worth it to stay with it! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Very Best, even for adolescents who have never learned to read
I taught my 4yr6moold son to read using this book, which was unbelievably fast and easy, but that was probably because he was extremely eager to learn and a sharp kid overall.
What I found MUCH more impressive is that I successfully taught two third graders who were WAY behind reading level, AND a 14 year old who was illiterate, as a volunteer reading teacher.(I am a physician, not a teacher, so I had no special background. But illiteracy is as bad a handicap as many diseases, and I was motivated.)When I received an invitation four years later to the young man's high school graduation, and learned he was getting a regular diploma and had been accepted into a vocational training program for engine repair, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the folks who wrote this book. Most teenagers would have been too bored by this book, perhaps, but this boy had DRIVE.(Maybe his drive and my determination mattered more than the book, but I doubt it.)
I drove 125 miles back to my old home town to attend his high school graduation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I received this book in great condition and very quickly. I will be happy to purchase from this seller again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best so far
My three year old is on lesson 30.I've recently decided to cut the lessons in half.I'm teaching him to read because he knows the letters and sounds. It's just an appropriate next step. This book isn't easy for a three year old, but he is learning to read.We are considering starting over at the beginning to put the wind back into his sails. It's exciting to learn to read.He sometimes says "Thank you mommy for teaching me to read."

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great but not bad...
This book came highly recommended to me by someone that I truly respect in teaching. She taught her three children how to read with this book and they were 2 grade levels ahead when they started school. I started this book with my 5 year old to teach him to read. He was familiar with letters so to have this book go soely on the sounds the letter make, not the name of the letter, was difficult to maneuver. It is repetitive, and that was very boring to my son who was familiar with some of the concepts. I believe that repetition is a good thing. I am not sure if my son and I didn't enjoy learning with this book because it was so repetitive and he was too old for it, or I was just not using it correctly. We made it through the first 6 lessons and I know people who love this book and others whom it did not fit their learning situation. This book, like any other curriculum, suits some kids not all. It is also noteworthy that my son has ADD and sitting still for the neccessary 12 mins to take care of the lesson was torture (it took 20-30 mins. because of the moaning and groaning). I know this is not so for many other children. So there are my 2 cents worth, I hope it helps you make a more informed decision. ... Read more
