4-0 out of 5 stars HIgh yield.
Useful for pediatric residents. High yield. I would advise flipping through a copy though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Board review
This book was very helpful for board review and preparation. I believe it does live up to its name as a baby book of "Aunt Minnie's".The diagnoses are classic and discussions succinct. The bibliography is alsoexcellent.

One could use this book as a primary learning tool whilelearning pediatric radiology, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but aradiologist or a radiology resident. It wouldn't be very helpful for apediatrician, because the way it is set-up is radiology "boards"style. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent General Chest Text for Radiology/Med. Residents.
Very well written text which is easy to read. Many useful mnemonics.Images are very good.

This is a must have for all radiology residents. It is also very useful for interns, medicine, and other residents. In our institution the pulmonary fellows are required to read this text.I personally recommend it to all medical students who rotate through radiology, even if they choose another specialty.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very superficial review of chest radiography.
This was a very superficial review of chest radiology. The pictures are not optimal for upper level residents and basically this is a good textbook for medical students and allied health professionals.Does have a verynice background introduction, but too much emphasis on chest radiography"signs."Would not recommend overall, especially to radiologyresidents or practing radiologists. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Excellent general reference on Radiology. I am an ER PA and believe this is a great book to start and learn x-ray. It is very complete but is not overkill for us who are not radiologists. It can be referenced easily but is more of a text than a pocket reference. I wish this was our text in PA school.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I'm a medical student newly interested in radiology and this book is a great foundation for someone looking to go into radiology.Easy to read, lots of images, and lots of good reasoning that takes the "voodoo" out of radiology. If your a medical student interesting in radiology, or one interested in IM, surgery, and basically any other specialty who wants to know how to read an xray, then I recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars CHEAP
The last edition was outstanding and extremely popular, although it was identicle to the msk chapters in brant and helms.Unfortunately with the new edition they went very cheap with the paper quality and thus the image quality suffers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Sense of Syntesis
I'm a radiology resident, and tried to read many musculoskeletal books, all quite abrangent, but hard to read. I found incredible how Dr. Helms could make such a syntesis of musculoskeletal radiology. Of course many chapters are too small. For example, the chapter about MR in shoulder is insuficient. But other chapters, like the chapter about MR in the examination of the knee is amazingly complete in an incredible small number of pages!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Skeletal Radiology by Clyde A. Helms

5-0 out of 5 stars radiology resident
This is a very good book for radiologists, residents and medical students with an interest in radiology. The chapters are organized by findings such as pleural calcifications, rather than anatomy such as the pleural space.I find this more in line with how a radiologist/resident thinks. There are "pre-tests" at the begining of each chapter, excellent tables, and post chapter "pearls" that help for comprehension. At the end of the chapters are typical radiographs that show the disease topics. The discussion in the chapters helps you narrow your differential with identification of key secondary findings. This book should be read before the oral exam at least once. ... I have this book. This is a good introductory book but without too in depth detail. One would be better suited with the Handbook of Interventional Radiology Procedures as a pocket guide. The Requisites and Valji's IR text are excellent.A's IR book is very in depth but easy to read.As a first text for IR, I would go with Valji or the Requisites. If you are a resident, go with either one.If you are a fellow, good luck findings time to read anything but then again, you must have already read one of these books. The handbook is a good quick reference for indications/contraindications, injections rates and statistics (success rate, mortality and complication rates), meds, dosing. This is good for problem solving and patient guide. As technical skill comes with time, I would use this to help decision making.Remember, you can do many things (technically) in IR, but the real question is, "Should you."Books that answer the "should you" questions is what you need to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide to interventional practice
I feel that this book is a very informative guide, regardless of experience in the field. It starts at the basics and elaborates on every aspect of the interventional lab. Good introductory book for anyone starting in this area of radiology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick Evaluation
Outstanding book. More concentrated information than I've found in any other guide to IR and exceedingly well written.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
If you are new to intervention, then make it your first book to read. If not, then make it the 2nd book. The book doesn't describe the techniques in detail, but it will give a good orientation about what you are about to do, what to look for, and what to avoid. (It will answer some questions that you may be shy to ask .. shhhhh).
After all, it is a good book for beginners

5-0 out of 5 stars Great text
Great text for radiology residents and attendings.Very lucid text.Great description of interstitial lung disease.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you only read one book in radiology, this would be the one.
Simply a must have, Dr. Webb has done a wonder job in addressing a difficult subject that seems to define the general radiologist, the ability to interpret a chest radiograph and CT.The text is easy to follow with key points reiterated in summary boxes through out the text. The selection of images and drawings is outstanding and puts meaning to the written text.Particularly strong is the chapter on interstitial lung disease, a topic that notoriously gives one fits.Quite simply, the entire pulmonary section is extremely well done.If I found a weakness, it would be the congenital heart disease section, personally, I think Dr. Lonergan at AFIP presents the material in a very resident friendly manner and the concepts are more easily gleaned and remembered.Skip Brandt and Helms which is picture poor and especially confusing on ILD; as well as, the baby Fraser and Pare, which espouses a number of confusing percentages and leaves you guessing like a poorly dictated radiology report listing everything but the kitchen sink in the differential and recommending clinical correlation, in fine radiology form.

If you are a medical student looking to get a jump on your radiology residency, a first-year radiology resident trying to make sense of different attendings calling something interstitial while another airspace disease, an upper-level resident trying to pull everything together before the boards or a clinician looking for a good introduction to chest radiology (whether it is to help you interpret films on your own or to better understand the CXR or CT reports), you simply can't go wrong with Thoracic Imaging. ... Book Description
A concise and comprehensive review of findings and differential diagnoses found on the oral board examination for diagnostic radiology. Drawing on pertinent and key differential diagnoses, the authors have assembled and organized the diagnoses most likely to appear on the exam and illustrated them with essential images to reinforce the findings associated with each differential. Additionally, with each finding set is provided a mnemonic to augment recall of any missing components of the differential that would be considered important. Because of their concise presentation, many cases can be examined, interpreted, completed, and memorized very rapidly in a single sitting. Since the majority of cases contain prototypical representations of pathology, the book also serves as an excellent reference source for many years after the reader has taken and passed the oral board examination. Mistakes can easily be made when interpreting emergency radiographs. The situation is often made more difficult by the urgency and circumstances in which the radiograph has to be evaluated.

This book describes a systematic approach to assessing radiographs, instructing you on the appearances of radiological abnormalities and comparing these with normal radiographs.

Each chapter covers a different part of the body and leads you through the anatomy, followed by the different types of view to request, the system of assessment itself, and pitfalls to avoid.
