Product Description
In Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad, Shari Braendel teaches you how to appreciate the body God gave you and how to always look your best---from conquering the battle of finding the right swimsuit, to choosing how many bangles you should wear or how big your purse should be, to wearing the right style jeans that will best flatter your thighs or hips, to finding the best places to shop to suit your unique personal style. Many of us are watching reality TV shows to get a clue on how to dress right and look good. We hungrily purchase fashion magazines any time the cover article has something to do with how we can hide our despised body parts. We make mad dashes to the local department store to pick up the new anti-wrinkle cream Oprah promised will take ten years away from our face. We care about how we look. Why is that? Because we're women, and women love to look and feel good. God made us that way. And this is not a bad thing. In fact, it's a wonderful thing. God loves beauty. He doesn't want us to reflect his image being sloppy, disheveled women of God who don't pay any attention to what we look like.Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad will show you how to look and feel your best, no matter what day it is or what the occasion. And it will also stop you from screaming at the top of your lungs, 'I have nothing to wear.' ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for all women
I read this book cover to cover in one morning. It is SO practical and user-friendly!!
I'm going to be buying one for EVERY woman on my Christmas gift list, from my 84-year-old grandmother to my 22-year-old sister-in-law to my husband's co-workers. EVERY woman should have this book. Knowing how to dress your body type, the colors that look best on you, the best color for your shoes and purse, how to shop and what to buy....all of it helps women LOOK as good as they feel and helps save money by limiting purchases to what WORKS!
I was so inspired by Shari's book that I immediately made a hair appointment with a new hair dresser and followed Shari's advice for my face shape. I got a chin-length bob, no highlights (which really DOES bring out my eyes!), and it is AMAZING. I've gotten so many compliments already!
Last night I went shopping with my mom and effortlessly found jeans that worked for me and grabbed tops off the rack that I knew would work. I even demonstrated to my mom how a light gray didn't work as well as the dark charcoal gray Shari recommends as one of my neutrals. What would've previously taken me hours only took about thirty minutes because I knew what I was looking for!
I love this book and would recommend it to any woman who wants to look her best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Christian Woman?Read this Book!
Is this too revealing?Did I pay too much for it?Does it look good on me?Those are only a couple of questions women ask themselves when they get dressed in the morning. In her book, "Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad," Shari Braendel does an excellent job of addressing the way Christian women can dress to look their best.

Immediately in the second paragraph of the introduction she says, "You have a responsibility as a Christian female to make sure that how you dress is a reflection of who you really are." If you dress sloppy you might appear to other as sloppy. Is that the point you are trying to get across?

This book is full of advice on how to dress your specific body type, how to get the right hair cut for your face shape, even what glasses look good on your face, and yes, swimsuits too.The female reader will also be glad to see an entire chapter dedicated to undergarments and how important the right fit is.Once this book is completed it should take out all the guess work and time you spend getting ready and also once the reader realizes what colors and/or items look best on them there is no need to waste money on anything else.

The author bookends this read with scripture and spiritual wisdom to start you off on the right foot and also leave you with some parting wisdom in the end.In the last chapter she reminds the reader that beauty starts with knowing who God is.

Thank you to Zondervan publishing for providing a complimentary copy of this book for reviewing purposes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great follow-up to Color Me Beautiful
I grew up on Color Me Beautiful so finding Shari's book with a updated chic twist was a God-send. I loved her afirmation that regardless of my current size or shape I can still reflect God's beauty, and I should invest in myself. I promptly purchased a Coach bag in my neutral color at the local outlet mall.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn to dress trendy but not trashy
Thank you Shari Braendel for showing us ladies how to dress trendy without being trashy. I have been convicted of dressing more modestly ever since I had a daughter, but find it challenging to find clothes that fit properly, look nice, and are reasonably priced. Shari gave me both encouragement and inspiration to not give up.

I really liked the specific helps she provides with body type, color schemes, and face shape. Armed with tools that I learned in the book, I already dress better. Some things I already knew but needed to be reminded. Other things I learned for the first time.

I am excited to share this book with my friends, but they might have to buy their own copy so I can keep my copy not in my bookcase but in my clothes closet.

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I must post that Zondervan has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book to review. I also must say that the opinions are all mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a great resource!
Having always been something of a "wandering generality" in the fashion world, I hugely appreciated Shari's book. She neatly breaks down common fashion challenges by catagory, with lots of relevant information, clear lists of resources, plenty of pictures to use as examples and lots of encouragement to help readers along the way. I was blessed by this and can't wait to share with the other ladies in my life! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Focus on Scarf Styling Book Review
A nice and handy small book full of pictures with written instructions on headcovering and hijab styling. This book is particularly useful for any woman wants to practise head covering for reasons such as culture or religion but also for a fashion statement. It is really explanatory with step by step pictures on how to tie a head scarf. The printing quality is really good and very clear. The price is as well really good for the content.Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great and crazy styling!
Hi, I am muslim and I purchased this book to style my scarf. Well, I am not disappointed! Really, these styles are originals, more of African or middle eastern styles, and are really beautiful. There are pictures and explanations for each step. Though, I think you need to read english to follow the steps, the pictures by themselves are not really sufficient. There is also beginners informations, as "how to pin" and how to choose your scarf. The book is agremented with translations of hadiths and ayats.

A great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars What A Wonderful Book!
I'm not a Muslim, but I've found this an ideal book to share with other non-Muslims, who may feel put off by the attire of Muslim women. This book is full of photos of girls and women who demonstrate that it's easy to dress beautifully *and* Islamically at the same time.

"Focus on Scarf Styling" will be a great morale-booster for any young Muslim girl -- the pride and self-respect she sees on every smiling face in the book will be a tremendous inspiration.

It could be used with great benefit in classroom cultural studies as well, to show kids from other backgrounds that being an observant Muslim can be cool! ... Read more

The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. The marriage between the world and the church

The church is experiencing moral degradation due to our strong affection for the things of this world. Our casual friendship with the world over the years has developed into an intimate marriage. Most believers are bowing speedily to the awful state of the so-called fashion in our present world. The world stands on the verge of welcoming total nudity as a form of fashion. Decency is overthrown in our conscience resulting in a generation that sees nothing wrong with nakedness. Modern fashion, in part, has been redefined as the style of creating an outfit with the smallest piece of cloth possible. The mindset of some of our designers seeks to create outfits that expose our bodies rather than cover up our nakedness. The church stands in the midst of this degrading environment and still follows the dress code of this world. It is written, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15)." ... Read more
