Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Saudi Arabia," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Saudi Arabia in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Saudi Arabia when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Saudi Arabia, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Rub' al Khali, which translates as Empty Quarter in English, is one of the largest sand deserts in the world, encompassing most of the southern third of the Arabian Peninsula, including southern Saudi Arabia, and areas of Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. The desert covers some 650,000 square kilometres, more than the combined land areas of the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. The desert is 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) long, and 500 kilometres (310 mi) wide, and is neither inhabited nor traversed by the Bedouins. After Pedro Páez's presence in the late Sixteenth Century, the first documented journeys by Westerners were made by Bertram Thomas in 1931 and St. John Philby in 1932. Between 1946 and 1950 Wilfred Thesiger crossed the area several times and mapped large parts including the mountains of Oman. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Saudi
I am very disappointed with this book because it contains so many inaccuracies. For example Tabbouleh and Hummous are NOT Saudi dishes. The Arabic language is transliterated very badly and no Arabic speaker would recognise the words. There are no hikers in the Saudi deserts! The picture of a traditional Saudi is not a Saudi -it looks like an Afghani man ... Read more

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Water supply and sanitation in Saudi Arabia differs from most other countries in three significant aspects. First, it relies almost exclusively on two sources that are absent in most other countries: water desalination and fossil water. Second, given the substantial oil wealth of the country, water is provided almost for free. Third, there is no separation between institutions in charge of policy and regulation on the one hand, and those in charge of providing services on the other. ... Read more
