Product Description
This report was created for strategic planners, international executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for live sheep and goats. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics that appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for live sheep and goats for those countries serving the world market via exports or supplying from various countries via imports. I do so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners approaching the world market face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying live sheep and goats? What is the dollar value of these imports? How much do the imports of live sheep and goats vary from one country to another? Do exporters serving the world market have similar market shares across the importing countries? Which countries supply the most exports of live sheep and goats? Which countries are buying their exports? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? ... Read more

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and export managers whose primary concern is the world market for live sheep and goats. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics that appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for live sheep and goats for those firms serving the world via exports and foreign direct investment. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, this report begins by summarizing the world exporter's market for live sheep and goats. The total level of exports on a worldwide basis is based on a model that aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market. These shares lead to a volume of import values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the shares that competitors (countries serving that market) are likely to receive this year. From these figures, world rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information for strategic planning purposes. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time/money
This is a short book that basically covers medical issues and then gives a standard remedy, all resulting in their one brand of product. Case and point... "Bar-wire cuts. Clean with soap and water, and apply Pratts Healing Ointment or Pratts Healing Powder." I have worked with farm animals both in the states and abroad working for the army. For the army I help teach farmers better ways to maintain their livestock thus improving their way of life. This book was toted to be a great guild of common ailments and an overall guild of livestock amongst other uncovered topics. It is far shorter than I expected and completely inadequate for what I needed. Unless I have an unlimited supply (and budget) of Pratts merchandise, apparently all my livestock are doomed to die. ... Product Description
This study covers the world outlook for complete feed for sheep and other livestock excluding horses, mules, cattle, and swine across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. ... Read more

Product Description

For those in the know, sheep are the stars of the huge annual agricultural shows, as they parade their polished hooves and oiled horns.  Swathed in fleeces expertly trimmed and coiffured to accentuate their finer points, Beautiful Sheep is a testament that skillful shepherds can create unique and living works of art.

There are a great many breeds of sheep, that for centuries provided income from their wool--thus today's versions are able to produce long heavy fleeces.  Likewise, those sheep used primarily for their meat were bred and developed to graze the harsh upland and hill territories well-suited for those climates.

All of these breeds are showcased, as never before, in the pages of this collector's item.  No longer will the gentle ovine be reduced to catch phrases about "the black sheep of the family" or "the wolf in the sheep's clothing"--but now can be appreciated and admired as stunning creatures.  A beautiful pictorial of sheep--arranged by breed, with geographical and historical information to complement the images--immaculately presented as stars of the catwalk, the best of the show. The result is an unusual and totally charming book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great info!
As a person raised on a farm that included a sheep operation, I enjoyed this book.Only drawback was that lots of breeds popular in the U.S. were not included. So reader, be aware that the animals featured are largely animals popular in Great Britain. But nevertheless, it's a beautiful book with lots of interesting history & facts about the various breeds included.

5-0 out of 5 stars Portraits of Champion Breeds
The book's subtitle describes it well. After a brief 8-page history of sheep breeding, the author and the photographer treat us to real portraits of award-winning sheep. The borderless full-page photo poses a wonderful animal in front of a draped canvas backdrop, like a formal human portrait. These photos capture the personality of the individual sheep while showcasing the best conformation of the breed. On the opposite page the author gives you the breed details in a nutshell: its features, uses, related breeds, sizes of animals and fleeces, and its country of origin and distribution. These are mainly European breeds but several are available in the US. This is a coffee table book for those of us who love sheep and their fleece. Two dissappointments: 1. There is no photo of a lock of their full fleece and 2. The book is paperback so not very durable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Hardcover
This book is a landscape style softcover with wraps, not a hardcover. I would not have purchased a copy for my collection had I known this. Contents are brief, lovely photographs.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great gift - lots of information
My family has always owned sheep, and my oldest sister is particularly fond of them.I got this book expecting it to be mediocre with the pictures and information, but was completely surprised by the high quality pictures, along with detailed information.A great coffee table book for the pictures, and a great informational book for those who have an interest in knowing more about the many breeds.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL PICTURES OF BEAUTIFUL SHEEP
