Product Description
Canfield and company presents a delightful collection of new stories for and about mothers. Celebrity contributors include Barbara Bush, Reba McEntire, the late Erma Bombeck, and Montel Williams.Amazon.com Review
Admittedly, we sometimes become oversentimental aboutmotherhood. But in a climate of rampant cynicism and familydisintegration, stories about maternal love, courage, devotion, andtriumph can be immensely comforting and inspiring. Contributors suchas Dave Barry, Barbara Bush, Reba McIntire, Erma Bombeck, and JoanRivers offer celebrity appeal. But even more heart coddling are thestories by everyday women, sharing their intimate experiences aboutbecoming a mother, almost losing a child, discovering miracles, andhonoring the wisdom of grandmothers. Mothers of all ages willappreciate this book as a gift to themselves or as a gift to a belovedmom. But get out your handkerchiefs, the editors showed no restraintwhen it came to including tearjerkers. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Must read for all Moms
I would definitely recommend this book to all moms. There are heart warming stories and really makes you think about how lucky you are to be a Mom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for moms
I bought this book shortly after becoming a mother for the first time and loved the stories. Many of them made me cry so I bought this one for my sister-in-law knowing she'd read it and love the stories too. I love that they're all short stories so you can read a couple and then get back to whatever you were doing. Great gift for any mother.

5-0 out of 5 stars A perfect gift for your mother
This is a prefect gift to give to your mother. It's a book that will remind them of the joys of being a mother.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is an Emotional Rollercoaster
I was given this book as a gift from my son. I read it on an airplane and laughed and cried so much that at the end of the flight, the man sitting next to me said, "you are quite an emotional lady!"I bought a copy of this book for the lady that helped me when I got stranded when the flight was delayed a day.She read one of the stories in it while I was changing clothes and I found her in tears when I returned. It's a great feel-good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars real page turner
I CAN NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! Some real tear jerkers too. A must for all moms. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars how it made me feel
the way that it had made me feel was that it told me that im not the only one who needs help of what i do. some people who do the drugs do not think of the after thoughts that come with doing it like me. please help me to quit it

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Much Appeal for a Male Reader
There are very few male authors in this collection of stories. If you are considering purchasing this book for a preteen boy, I advise against it. While the stories are good, it took my reader no time at all to burn out on all of the "girl" stories.

2-0 out of 5 stars turned me off at the first story
I read the first story on the "search inside this book" feature and that was enough to convince me NOT to buy this book and to give it a negative review. The first story is about a girl who switches schools, makes friends, and gains self confidence. She makes physical changes as well that all are supposed to make her into a better, more likeable person.

What annoyed me most was the fact that a "new friend" convinced the writer to stop wearing her eyeglasses unless she absolutely needed them, like for homework.Whaaaaatttt?I'm sorry, that's just irresponsible editing on the publishers part.Let the eye. dr. decide if glasses should be worn all day vs. just for homework, not a 12 year old who says "if you can see my hand you're fine" or something to that extent. What a HORRIBLE message to send to girls that eyeglasses=ugly & unpopular and that girls should avoid wearing them unless absolutely needed.

One other physical change the girl went through was to lose weight. She went from "short and stubby" to "long and slender".Okayyyyyy, I'm glad she got some better eating habits; even her dr. had told her mom she had a weight problem. But it grates on my nerves that the writer is implying to readers that being tall (now popular and surrounded by friends) is better than being short (when she didn't have any friends).Kids read this stuff and get the (even if it's subconcious) notion that being short is bad.

So good for the writer to have made new friends, to have grown out of her short, fat, pimply, dorky dressing, eyeglass wearing years.I just wish that it didn't make the girls still in those situations (especially ones who can't do anything about it) feel so bad about themselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
As with all the other Chicken Soup For The Soul books I've read, this one was thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter.Children should read more, more and many more real life stories like this. It shows them that there are so many things that they have to be gratefull for.

3-0 out of 5 stars Chicken soup for the preteen 2
The chicken soup for the preteen soul

Chicken soup for the preteen soul is great book for teenage girls and boys to read if they

Like short story's about teens and there life. This book has a lot of stories to tell you, if

It's about love; friendship, care, or family then this would be the book for you. There are

A couple of story's I like in this book but one of my favorites is called My problem. Its

About an eleven year old boy who has trouble eating to much and becomes over weight

And the kids at his school make fun of him for example they call him fat so or four by

Four until one day he got into a program called tops witch changed his whole life. There

Are a lot more different stories by different authors and most of them are your age. So if

You read this book I promise you, you will love this book just give it a try. When I read

This book I felt like if some of the story's where telling part of my life and if I was the

One going through every thing that was happening. At first I thought this book would be

Boring because of the way it looked I thought It would maybe about recipes about how to

Make soup but when I read it, it turned out to be a great book with a lot of story's you

Maybe can relate to. While you are reading and stories are getting better the book finishes

But its okay I understand you would want to read more but all you have to read is the

next Part of the book called chicken soup for the teenage soul just because its says

Teenage soul doesn't mean it will be just for teenagers because you can read it to.

The book arrived in good shape but it took 2 weeks before I recieved it.I also ordered a second book from another vendor and it was here in just a short time, both were ordered the same night on the same order but it took an additional week or more before this one arrived.

5-0 out of 5 stars worth it
This book is really relatable for pet lovers. make sure you have a tissue handy, though. I bought this book for my mom after her dog passed away, and have also read it myself. I know the understanding she is able to get from these stories has helped her. there are some very memorable stories, and the short story format lets you read at your own pace. don't get me wrong- not all the stories are sad!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love them fur kids!
As both a dog and cat owner, and a would-be everything-else owner, too, I love this book!I have several "Chicken Soup" books, plan to add several more to my collection, but this one is probably my favorite so far.It keeps you between tears and laughter from beginning to end.All pet lovers will see themselves and their furry, feathered or finned friends somewhere in here, I'm sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This is a fantastic book that you can pick up and set down easily, with the independent stories. It has touching moments that make your heart dance, and that make you cry.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
I didn't quite know if I was going to make it through this book. Through about the first 8-9 stories, I kept on crying.I was thinking "This is ridiculous. I can't read one doggone story without crying after I read it." I kept thinking of my dog, Shep, who died a couple years ago at the age of 91 and how badly I want another dog. There is a dog beach by my house so usually everytime I see a dog, Shep pops up to mind.I pretty much had sunglasses on when I read this book in public so people wouldn't think I was completely crazy. Somewhere towards the middle, I hardened up and was ready to read this book without blinking a thousand times.
These were wonderful stories about everything from cats, dogs, snakes, bears, gorillas, and birds.I enjoyed every last one of them except for the one about Bush's dog. It was very impersonal and told the whole story like it was some sort of nursery rhyme. That was the only reason the book got four stars. I don't even understand how that story made it past submissions. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it
I have given this book to a number of teachers with just that in mind, to help them continue to be inspirations to their students. These stories should be read by all teachers to affirm that they can achieve amazing outcomes with the children that they teach. We ask teachers to focus too much on results rather than creating passion within students that would then automatically mean that they would want to learn.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Uplifting Read
I purchased this book for my mom a couple of Christmases ago.I did so because she was having a difficult time dealing with her mother's illness.

Mymom is reading this book a second time, she says she finds it to be so very uplifting. She'll read one or two stories at a time, every now and then, and it can help her when she's feeling down.

She says the stories are well written, and short enough to just pick up the book and read for a few minutes, or read for an hour if you like. They really are inspirational to her, and still to this day, as family illnesses have grown and she's got a lot to deal with on a daily basis.

It is just a little something for her to help, and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs some uplifting words. It makes a great gift for someone who is grieving, or dealing with a situation that often makes them feel alone or helpless.

5-0 out of 5 stars an inspiration for hard times
I love all the chicken soup for the soul books. It is such a great idea to put together inspirational stories which stand alone without a lot of filler. This book in particular helped me to get through difficult times in my life by learning about other people who had survived their own challenges.I loved the first story which talks about trees growing stronger by struggling through the rough weather. It is a metaphor I think of often.

5-0 out of 5 stars A much needed comfort & inspiration
I bought this for my sister who relocated to Kansas and is having a tough time in her life; She is one who doesn't like books and never picks up a book; however she LOVES this book! the short stories filled with courage, love and inspiration help her get through this chapter in her life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and supportive
A reminder that others have made their way, and we can too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Puts life in perspective
My friend gave me this book a few years ago, when I was going through a rough time.
I give it 4 stars, because it is not as great as previous Chicken Soup books. But the stories are still very inspiring.
Each story is more emotional & moving than the next.Lots of tears were shed, as I read these stories. It makes you realize that your problems aren't so bad & there are a lot of people who have it worse off than you.You must keep a positive attitude & remember that 'life goes on.'
If you are looking to put your problems into perspective & see the big picture, then this book is for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I purchased this book as a gift for a very dear friend. We are both musicians.I sing and he is a composer and pianist. He described this book as AMAZING and I must agree. There were songs I have been singing for quite some time. The story behind the lyrics was very useful.Whenever I sing one of the songs, I now have more background information about the inspiration behind the song.It is so wonderful to give a gift to someone and to know that it was well received.Yes, some of the songs were somewhat obscure, but that does not take away from the overall value of this book.Without a doubt, I highly recommend Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Story Behind the Song!

4-0 out of 5 stars wonderful version of chicken soup

The Story behind the Song is a compilation of one hundred and one classic and popular well known songs.Spanning across decades of music, each chapter gives the artist or writers story along with the full lyrics. The book is packed full of interesting information and emotions attached to some of our favorite songs. If you have ever wondered how a song came to be, or if the lyrics mean anything personal to the artist, this installment of Chicken Soup for the Soul is for you.

The book is divided into chapters by each individual song. Each chapter has the artist picture, name and song title, followed by the written by and recorded by details. From here the narrative starts on how the song came to be or the story behind the development of the song.Immediately following the artists' comments are the full lyrics to the song. There is no doubt that you will want to go find your old forgotten CDs or your new and favorite CDs to hear these songs. If you don't have the songs on CD you will probably end up finding yourself on the internet like I did, searching for the song so that you can listen to it and be reminded of its' tune and passion while you read this book.I also used the internet to search for the songs I was not as familiar with or had not heard before, though they were few and far between. It was amazing to hear the song after learning more about how it came to be.

Due to the setup of the chapters, the book leaves the reader with options on how they would prefer to read it.I started off reading cover to cover but quickly switched my tactic.I was finding each entry very intriguing and found myself wanting to read about some of my favorites first. It is very easy to read this book out of order. After grabbing a pencil and making a small mark next to the chapters I had read, I went through and chose the order I wanted to read in, making sure to mark each chapter on the table of contents page after reading it.One of my favorite stories was from Gavin Rossdale who talks about his song "Love Remains the Same".I found that this story was one that every reader would be able to connect with.It is a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics and an honest story behind it.There were many great stories in this book that it is hard to choose just one favorite.I also really enjoyed Liz Phair's "Divorce Song".I was unfamiliar with this song, but it was great to read and then listen too.It is always great to find new music and new artist.

The Story behind the Song is a delightful look at generations of music and lyrics. It is heart warming and at times comical. The reader is given a glimpse at the blood, sweat and tears along with heartache, pain, enjoyment and pay off that goes into the writing process and success!I would love to see Chicken Soup for the Soul come out with a second installment of this book, or maybe even one about authors and their creative process or story behind their books. It was a fresh and new perspective to the Chicken Soup series.

Reviewed for bookpleasures

5-0 out of 5 stars Heart of the song
The "Story Behind the Song", related by the writers and/ or performers, adds another dimension to the tunes that created so many memories for us all.It is an education in creation by the masters.

4-0 out of 5 stars Could Have Used More
I got this for the Kenny Loggins entry "Moose 'n' Me". Yes Kenny should have used the story behind one of his more well known songs, but it is interesting as it is a song from his not-yet-officially-released children's album for Disney. The song's theme of loosing a loved pet and wondering if we'd meet them in the next life leads apporiately into the next song Shelby Lynne's "When Johnny Met June" which has a similar theme (only it's about Johnny and June Carter Cash) Not all the writers wrote the songs they sang, their are two entries by the offspring of deceased singers Jim Croce and Ricky Nelson. No Beatles however... Or Dylan or Donovan or songs written for the stage and screen...

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was looking forward to reading this book but after I got it I was really disappointed.Of the 101 songs, I recognized about 25. I did recognize most of the authors but it seemed the stories concerned their little known songs. I will admit I'm over 40 but I was hoping for better. The bright spot is it was worth every penny I paid which was $5.00 w/free shipping.I'll pass this book along and hopefully somebody will find more value in it. ... A terrific way to teach children ways to express their feelings without hurting anyone/anything. I am a psychologist, specializing in young children and their families, and I often use this book with my families.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very original . . .loved it!
As a first grade teacher, mother, and grandmother, I have read many children's books. This one, in my opinion, is one of the most original and creative I've read. Not only does it entertain, but it sends the message to children that 1. It's normal to be angry.and 2.There are constructive ways to deal with it.

The idea that it promotes children doing dangerous things is ridiculous. For pete's sake . . .look at the classics.Children know the difference!
Without "danger" we would not have "The Three Little Pigs", "Little Red Riding Hood", "The Three Bears" or most of the rest.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Not From a Can- a review of "Mean Soup"
I read the negative review and so borrowed this book from the library with trepidation, but my children and I (they are boy and girl; 4 and 6 years old) quite like it.

The worst criticism I thought was about the child hovering over the pot of boiling water. The reviewer made it sound as if the child was unsupervised and egging real children on to do dangerous things. The reality was not as bad as described however. The book-mother was always present watching over her child. The worst one could say was that the pot was on the front burner.

In any case, paranoid as I am, I didn't think they were showing the child doing anything ludicrously dangerous. And I like the idea of showing children that they can have little rituals that they can implement to change their moods.

Four Stars.Cute artwork and good read-aloud.This book offers children an example of ritual/habit used for good; i.e. That they have the power to change their mood.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book advocates dangerous, life threatening behaviors!
A mother allows her out-of-control son to teeter over the kitchen stove on a long-legged bar stool. She then has him put his face over the lit stove and yell into a steaming pot of boiling water! He is then given a wooden spoon and ecouraged to bang the pot of roiling soup.Later, he literally breathes fire with his "dragon breath".In another illustration, he is permitted to ride home from school in a car driven by his mother's friend who is so wild that she nearly kills 3 poodles!

Woe is the child who takes it upon himself to mimic the behaviors so charmingly illustrated in this book!Humor is great, but this stuff isn't funny, it's dangerous.Managing anger is an important skill, but doing so with fire and boiling soup is a recipe for disaster!

It is shocking that a publisher would release such a reckless book.It is incomprehensible and irresponsible for any reviewer to laud this book's tackling of anger management without condemning the specific behaviors employed and illustrated in this story.Any parent modeling the behaviors shown in this book is a good candidate for incarceration for child endangerment. This is one book to stay away from! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I purchased this book as a gift for my mother after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. My mother is a strong woman, and she tried to cover up her fear after she was diagnosed. When I gave her this book, it brought tears to her eyes. After reading for a few days, she told me that the book helped her understand what her treatment would be like and what she could expect in the future. She was so encouraged by the personal testimonies in this book and it helped her confront her fears.I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for hope, encouragement, and insight on cancer and how it affects our lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup book
As a three-time survivor of cancer, a friend gave me this book.I enjoyed it so much that I passed it on to another friend. Now I needed a new book for a terminal patient since I no longer had a co py.I know he will profit also from reading it.

5-0 out of 5 stars At Ease
There is a major theme that runs through everyones personal story .
No matter whatthe aspect there is a continual nervous feeling,no matter how brave the individual. This collection is compiled in in such a positive way that all the persons involved with their cancer and circumstances are similar. My cancer too.
Reading it at first was difficult but after the first few stories a sense of ease set in and they became meaningful.
As a person who generally avoids such books I did not put this one down. My thanks to my friend who turned me on to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lens called cancer
Even if you don't have cancer, you know someone who does. How can you understand them? Help them?Be the friend they need? You can start by reading this book and understanding what life looks like when viewed through the lens called cancer.

And lest you think that the book is full of morose and morbid stories, please know that this book will make you laugh and smile as much as it will make you cry; cancer seems to brings out an extraordinary range of emotions.

Understand this disease and understand better the people you love who face this disease.Read the The Cancer Book.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Takes A Courageous Village
I wish I was courageous as the people in this book. I am not. It was hard to read. But it takes more courage to write about it as these folks do. And much more than that, is just to face it straight up. All the while not knowing if the outcome would be in one's favor. That can make for an adventurous tale. And unlike a patient, a reader is rewarded for facing it. Because at the end we will find uplight, or tears.
Any book that makes you laugh and cry is wondrous indeed.
But it is the different depths of love that are revealed in this one.
Thank you for this worthy book.
As the youth say, love ya! ... Read more

Product Description

Whether you're a veteran grandma or a Nana-to-be, this collection of stories will warm your heart and make you laugh about the universal experiences of being a grandmother: the phone call that announces your baby will become a mom herself; the first time you hold the most beautiful grandson or granddaughter in the world; and the day you're on baby-sitting duty and realize that major issues are minor infractions best solved with love instead of lectures.

This book celebrates the memories we make and the times we cherish with grandmothers: the women who can both spoil and be stern; who provide unconditional love and invaluable wisdom; who can share sage advice while sharing an ice cream.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup for the Catholic Soul
Purchased for a Catholic friends who is enjoying the book
tremendously.

She purchased a couple of books and I added this one as a gift.

The Chicken Soup series, no matter what your interests, pet-lovers,
teenagers, etc are great and inspiring.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful stories
I bought two books, one for my sister and one for myself. We both enjoy the stories, they are inspirational. Each story is no more than two pages long but leaves you with the need to reflect on what you have just read.Even when I have finished the book, I know I will go back to it when I need to feel uplifted.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like Visiting An Old Friend
When I read all the essays, tears came to my eyes. The stories are faith affirming, heart warming and reflect the universal journey of life filled with joy and sorrow and above all, love. I was amazed at the number of people from all over the country who share the same Catholic eperiences. I felt connected to them in an intimate way as if I'd always known them.It was truly an honor for me to be included in this book.I will always treasure my copy of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Using faith even in a non-religious way
I have to admit, I'm not catholic, I'm not relgious at all.I read a story from this collection titled "My Saturday Starfish" which I really liked. It's a meaningful story on an interpersonal level; it's all about interacting with kids who have no direction and trying to help them and believe what you're doing is good even when you can't see the results. And it's meaningful on a philosophical level...that faith need not be religious to be important to our lives. It's not an easy time for anyone now, so if you're looking for examples of how believing in yourself and good intentions have good consequences, this might be the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars the joy of books
I bought this book for my grandson.Such a joy. The story is enchanting and the illustrations pure delight.

5-0 out of 5 stars mmmm - Good!
Right away we are introduced to the main character, Max the duck. He begins cooking this amazing soup because he has cooked many other delicious soups before. Maxwell Duck feels something is not quite right with his new creation. Having previously sipped a sample while stirring his soup, he decides a very necessary herb is needed from his garden to make his soup perfect!

Later on towards the middle of the book, we are introduced to several more characters who are Max's pals. There's Brody the dog and Dakota cat. The story line moves along and the plot thickens... almost literally! You see, those two pals now believe their friend Max fell in the soup! While they grab the ___ well, you've just got to check out this one and read it to the very end. It's really a very good story and a funny one at that! ***** stars!

3-0 out of 5 stars not as good as Duck and Cover
It really depends on which book you read first, Duck and COver or Duck soup. I read Duck and Cover first. It is so good. Giving Duck and COver a high 5, I would the most give Duck Soup a low 3. The drawings are good and fun. And there are couple of laugh lines in there, like the hot chili soup, marshmallow soup, and the end of the book. However, compared to Duck and Cover's sense of humor, this is far from it. But if your reading order is the other way, you probably will like both of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun to read
My 2 yr old loves this book because of all the fun sounds, emphasis on words, etc.He asks me to read it over and over again and wants me to purchase it for his daycare.

About a week after my first cat Chessie passed away, I found this book at my local supermarket and bought it.It was an excellent and comforting read.It helped me get through a very difficult time and inspired me to write down my awesome memories of my Chessie as well as my second cat Casey Jones and my new kitten Smokey.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great collection of crazy cat antics and inspirational tales
The great thing about all the Chicken Soup books is that you can pull them out at anytime and just take in a single moving, inspirational or funny story to brighten your day. They are around to make you happy and feel good, just like your beloved pets!

"What I Learned form the Cat" is so great because it opens eyes to the humor and love that comes with owning a cat - something diehard dog devotees can struggle to see. This is a wonderful book to keep on hand and give as a gift. It's hard not to enjoy the diverse tales!

As animal enthusiast and pet expert Wendy Diamond mentioned in the opening of the book, cats encourage a laziness and calmness in daily life that can be desperately needed and greatly appreciated. We should all take note and learn to find a comfy spot in the sun and enjoy a nice catnap!

5-0 out of 5 stars csfts cat book
This book was purchased for a Christmas present for someone I know loves cat's very much. She has always liked the format of Chicken Soup for The Soul books. When she received this book she was very happy. Not only was it a favorite set of authors but it was about cats.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love the CS4TS series
I like a book that I can read a story and be done in a few pages. Which this book offers. And being a big time cat lover, I could relate to these stories. The majority of the time that I read this book, I was either in my chair with my Calico, Sugar, on my lap, or reading in bed with my sweet Buster, purring beside me. The stories have, for the most part, good lessons. But unfortunately the stories fall short compared to the other CS4TS books that offer longer stories. I believe because the editors wanted to pack a certain amount of stories into each book they fell short of the better stories that the other CS4TS books offered. That is why I could only give this a 4 star rating but 4 stars isn't a bad review. And if you're a cat lover, I doubt you'll be dissappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars So True.....
Chicken Soup once again serves up a heartwarming helping of feline "tales" to make us laugh, cry and nod in complete agreement with the authors. A wonderful page-turner. The perfect gift for the cat lover or yourself! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun for reading time!
My daughter loves this book! She's less than two years old, but she loves to flip the tabs while I'm reading to her.I like the book too.The story is well-written enough that even though I must have read it at least fifty times since I bought it, I'm not quite sick of it yet.The CD seems to have been recorded by a group of British voice actors with colorful accents and animated voices--fun to listen to!

Only down side is that although the tabs are securely glued in, they are not toddler-proof.Luckily, a little glue or tape is all that is needed to fix a removal--provided the little one doesn't eat the tab.Heh. The fact that the tabs are glued in and not cut out from the page means that they are easier for little fingers to manipulate--definitely a plus with my little girl!

This book has been really great fun for us.I'm looking forward to receiving more from this series soon!

A Celebration of Love and Wholeness

There is a special bond between a mother and her daughter that, in the vast scope of human relationships, is unparalleled. Sometimes fragile and tenuous but at once as enduring as the Rockies, it is a relationship that is neither static nor shallow. It is evolving and forever—a deep and eternal wellspring.

In her daughter, a mother sees her hopes and expectations; fulfillment, perhaps, of her dreams and a journey down the road not taken. From her first breath, a daughter opens new vistas for her mother to reach beyond herself.

In her mother, a daughter sees her foundation; her history and the lives of all those women who came before her. She sees herself and understands what it means to be a woman.

In this remarkable collection, you will read stories of love and courage, loss and reunion, sacrifice and redemption and everyday caring that make up life. Whether you are a new mom in awe of your daughter's first step, or a seasoned mom who has just caught yourself saying "Because I said so!"; a sixteen-year-old who can’t understand why her mom doesn’t want her to drive, or a forty-year-old who finally figured out why her mother sacrificed her career for her kids, you will be touched and inspired by these heartwarming stories that illuminate the mother/daughter relationship.

This extraordinary book will open your eyes anew to the most special women in your life. ... Read more

Product Description

Nearly one million people have been touched by the stories in the first edition of Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul. Now this second edition ministers to millionsmore!

Most people don't become nurses because of the pay, working conditions, or the convenient hours. Men and women become nurses because they want to make a difference in the lives of others through the use of their compassionate skills and hard work. Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul, Second Dose, underscores why nurses enter the profession . . . and why they stay.

This collection of true stories encourages, uplifts, and honors nurses; reenergizing them with hope, health, and healing during challenging times. Through laughter and tears, nurses share their memories and tales, inspiring and honoring one another as they continue their journey. You will be moved by the heartwarming revelations of nurses who have just started out in the field, as well as by veteran nurses who share their experiences of making a difference in the lives of their patients.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching stories
I have a copy of this but I bought this one for my sister-in-law because I knew she'd appreciate it. She loved the stories in it as did I. They touch your heart and some make you cry. And they're all pretty short stories so you can read one or two and then do other things. Love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brings back precious memories
Each day I read several stories and everytime at least one will bring a tear to my eye.Mothers of sons are indeed a special breed. I have three sons. I see them in some of these stories. It's a huge task for us to raise them into fine young men. This book shows it's being done and there are many fine young men out there!
