5-0 out of 5 stars Monster Trucks
My 5 year old twin grandsons will love this book. They have every monster truck that has been made to date!!! The book is very detailed and interesting for young children.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for you little Monster Truck fans
Although dated your little Monster Truck fans would enjoy learning more about the trucks as you read to them or they read it. It is dated and not including most of the famous trucks today. The book is informative and aims at teaching little ones about the trucks and teh information still works today.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too small
I was a bit disappointed by the book size but our grandson seemed to like it so I guess it is OK

1-0 out of 5 stars More of a pamphlet than a book
This book is very small and thin. I thought it would be the usual size of a children's book with a hard cardboard cover. Instead it is a small and thin booklet with card stock like cover. Also I paid $10! Certainly not worth the cost in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars poetry for truck fans
When my son was about 4, he memorized "Truck Song," by Diane Seibert.
For sentimental reasons I wanted to replace the book, but he also used it for a college project!!
Thanks Amazon!!

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful illustrations and words
My boys have loved this book for years. It is catchy without being cutsie and the illustrations are bright and colorful.Ours is wearing out, I'm glad to see that I can replace it when need be.This would be a terrific addition to any family's library.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun to read
My son, my wife, and I have all enjoyed this book greatly. The pictures are inviting and clean-looking, which is great for a toddler (many books for this age group seem visually cluttered), yet they include sufficient detail to reward close looking. The words, or lyrics, are quite fun to read and hear, making this book at times a welcome relief from the truck picture books with no plot (yes, my son is very interested in trucks!)--and from the many books for this age group that use oversimplified language. The words here are catchy but not sing-songy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Truck Song:A Poem for the Open Road
Truck Song by Diane Siebert is a beautifully-written tribute tointerstate-trucking.The colorful verse draws young children into thestory, at the same time that the rhythm of the poem evokes the rhythm of a cross-country haul. The illustrations by Byron Barton vividly illustrate the poem's content, as one trucker sees his load to its destination. My two-year-old loved the easy-paced verse, and enjoyed the pictures of the different trucks. This was one book my husband and I actually enjoyed rereading multiple times in a sitting.Truck Song is sure to become a much-loved classic in our family, ... Product Description

With Dodge B-Series trucks becoming more rare with each passing year, it becomes more difficult to correctly identify an original condition truck. Drawing upon official Chrysler publications and a broad knowledge of original condition trucks, Dodge truck expert, Don Bunn, brings the restorer or buyer the information needed to correctly restore a truck or make an intelligent and informed purchase. It covers the entire line of 1948 through 1953 Dodge B-Series light, medium and heavy-duty models except Power Wagon, with a heavy emphasis on light-duty models because they are the most popular with collectors. Anyone with the desire to own, restore, or correctly identify an original condition Dodge B-Series truck needs this book!

Dodge B-Series Trucks: Restorer's & Collector's Reference Guide and History
by Don Bunn

There was once a time when pickup trucks were commercial vehicles; workhorses used by businesses small and large to move whatever needed to be moved. These vehicles were simple, rugged, unadorned and dependable. Just as with a tugboat or a locomotive, styling was almost always a secondary consideration to the task at hand and extra options simply took away from the maximum payload the thing could haul.

After World War Two, Ford and Chevrolet dominated the truck market. Dodge was a player, but its trucks were usually priced $25 to $50 higher than the competition, an amount that was enough to lose a sale. In 1948, Dodge introduced its new B-Series that provided more interior room with a bigger cab, tight and precise steering due to an 18-inch steering wheel, and a set-back front axle. Dodge would never match Ford and Chevrolet in sales numbers but the B-Series was an attractive alternative. The B-Series was built between 1948 and 1953 at just one plant in San Leandro, California and was available in light, medium, and heavy duty models.

Don Bunn's passion for Dodge B-Series trucks was fueled by his purchase in 1973 of a 1952 half-ton pick-up, a vehicle that he still owns. He became a charter member of the Light Commercial Vehicle Association (LCVA) and quickly found that there was little or no information available to someone who wanted to rebuild or restore an old B-Series truck. His search for relevant information about what each vehicle should have looked like as it left the factory is embodied in Dodge B-Series Trucks: Restorer's & Collector's Reference Guide and History.

The first thing I learned, in the fourth paragraph, of the first page, of the first chapter is that the word pick-up, with a hyphen, was only used for ½ ton trucks. The ¾ and one-ton models were called an "express" which was term used throughout the industry. The next thing that I learned is that the B-Series light, medium, and heavy duty Dodge trucks came in a bewildering array of models and bodies that included several cab variations and the possibility of pickup, express, panel, stake, and platform beds. There were engine options, axle options, and choices for springs, shock absorbers, wheels and tires. Fortunately, Bunn is well on-top of these variations and his book is filled with sharp black and white photographs to help guide the uninitiated through the possibilities.

Although there are probably a few truck historians who will devour every page and specification table, Dodge B-Series Trucks will more likely be used by a prospective buyer or current owner of a Dodge truck who wishes to judge how authentic a vehicle might be. Here is where Bunn's book is invaluable. Where else could you go to find out that for 1951 the hood prop that was formerly located on the radiator to dash tie rods was now fastened to the firewall? Nowhere that I know of...

Bunn's writing is serviceable, the tables are clear, precise, and well-organized, and the archive photographs (mostly from Chrysler), show interesting models such as fire trucks, dump bodies, and panel delivery trucks. But it is pick-up trucks that are hot right now and just leafing through the pages of this fine reference book will have you checking the used car section of your local Craigslist to see what might be available.

If you own, or want to own, a Dodge truck built between 1948 and 1953, you will not find a more valuable information resource than this book.As with all of Mr. Bunn's Dodge books, this one is packed with well-researched facts, outstanding photos and fascinating truck history. For those of us who were not around when these trucks were new, it's the next best thing to a time machine. For those who were around, it will bring back memories of a time when trucks were built to work! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book
Duck in the Truck is one of my 3 year old son's favorite books. When he was very young he was enthralled with the vibrant illustrations, and now he loves the way the story rhymes. We've enjoyed this book so many times that on a long car trip I recited the story - word for word - over and over again, even though the book was tucked safely away at home. It's the only book I've memorized from reading so many times!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for young and old
My 4 yr. Old looooooves this book. Honestly, if I could read this all day to her, it would be pure joy for her. And honestly again, I love reading it to her. I love the narration, "this is the truck that gets stuck in the much..." after just 2 reads my daughter was able to recite each page almost verbatim, so it's a great book for toddlers to read to themselves as well. It's on the list of the read aloud handbook and I can see why. Funny, easy read for you and your child.

1-0 out of 5 stars Where was the editor?
The ending of this book completely kills it. We received it as a gift. I read it to my daughter and now we are going to get rid of it. The reviewers who say the duck is clearly portrayed as an antihero are mad. You may pick up on this - and help your kids interpret the ducks behavior, but even at 18 months, my daughter is more than capable of pulling books down on her own and looking through them without me standing over her shoulder as interpreter. The message in this book is poor. Trick people into helping you and then leave them in the lurch when you get what you want.

The sad part is that they could have fixed it pretty easily at the end. If only a second tragedy befell the duck - kind of as karma come back around. Then the message would be bad things happen to bad people.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!!!
I love this book & my 2 year old son loves it too!We find ourselves reciting it when we are on the road. The pictures are wonderful & the rhyming can't be matched!.... And as for bad manners - if you find this book to be that horrible then you should present it in a way that teaches your children NOT to do this & not expect a book to teach that for you. Anyway, let's face it, not everyone in life has perfect manners so why not have a fun way to expose your kids to the real world!Personally, I found NOTHING wrong with this book & will give it as a gift to all my little kiddy friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pickup Trucks
I gave this book as a gift. The recipient was crazy about it.He collects old trucks and farm equipment and had never seen a book like this.I tried getting a book on antique trucks at Barnes & Noble, but they had nothing on the subject.I had my pick of several coffee table type books on trucks with amazon.com.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Photography
This book shows classic pickup bodies, some with modern engines, veryclearly. The photos are exceptionally vivid in color. The chosen trucksare highly interesting, and the settings for the photographs very wellchosen.

I was not even aware it was possible to produce a book with levelof clarity in the photographs. As a photographer myself, I was leftwondering precisely how the photographs were done. i.e. Shutter speed, fstop, film type, filters, camera, lens and lighting. While the subject ofthe book, trucks, is not photography, the pictures, none the less, couldserve as models of vehicle photography.Even a single paragraph on thetopic would be appreciated by this reviewer. In a lucky world, perhaps theauthor or someone else familiar with the production techniques will furthercomment.

My three year old son loves trucks, and this book has been anice vehicle to help us share some time together.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful collection of trucks
If you like pickups from the beginning up until the 1950's, this is for you. Excellent photography, highlights some models not usually done (Diamond T, Hudson, Reo). Good home-grown stories about each one (where itcame from, what the owner is like, et al) makes this book one of myfavorites. ... Read more

Although this book was around when many of today's parents were youngsters,it has remained a steadfast must-have in every toddler's library. Forstarters, it's a great vocabulary guide that names the many things that go(and some that haven't a prayer of going, but are great fun to imagineanyway). It's also teeming with detail-rich scenes and characters onevery page, teaching children the rewards of looking long and closely (suchas finding the hidden "Goldbug" in each spread). Along the way itentertains with the silly and slapstick--everything from toothpaste andtoothbrush cars to six fire department vehicles that show up to extinguisha ladybug-size fire in a miniature pink convertible. What's most amazingabout this book, however, is its longevity. When you purchase it for yourfledgling talker, you should consider it an investment. Even 11-, 12-, and13-year-olds are known to pore over the book nostalgically, cooing at LowlyWorm and eagerly tracking Officer Flossie's book-long chase after thatirresponsible, speedster driver in a cowboy hat. Product Description
For the first time, a book exists that compiles all the information candidates need to apply for their first Truck Transportation, Warehousing and Logistics Management job, or to apply for a better job.

What you'll find especially helpful are the worksheets. It is so much easier to write about a work experience using these outlines. It ensures that the narrative will follow a logical structure and reminds you not to leave out the most important points. With this book, you'll be able to revise your application into a much stronger document, be much better prepared and a step ahead for the next opportunity.

The book comes filled with useful cheat sheets. It helps you get your career organized in a tidy, presentable fashion. It also will inspire you to produce some attention-grabbing cover letters that convey your skills persuasively and attractively in your application packets.

After studying it, too, you'll be prepared for interviews, or you will be after you conducted the practice sessions where someone sits and asks you potential questions. It makes you think on your feet!

This book makes a world of difference in helping you stay away from vague and long-winded answers and you will be finally able to connect with prospective employers, including the one that will actually hire you.

This book successfully challenges conventional job search wisdom and doesn't load you with useful but obvious suggestions ("don't forget to wear a nice suit to your interview," for example). Instead, it deliberately challenges conventional job search wisdom, and in so doing, offers radical but inspired suggestions for success.

Think that "companies approach hiring with common sense, logic, and good business acumen and consistency?" Think that "the most qualified candidate gets the job?" Think again! Time and again it is proven that finding a job is a highly subjective business filled with innumerable variables. The triumphant jobseeker is the one who not only recognizes these inconsistencies and but also uses them to his advantage. Not sure how to do this? Don't worry-How to Land a Top-Paying Truck Transportation, Warehousing and Logistics Management Job guides the way.

Highly recommended to any harried Truck Transportation, Warehousing and Logistics Management jobseeker, whether you want to work for the government or a company. You'll plan on using it again in your efforts to move up in the world for an even better position down the road.

This book offers excellent, insightful advice for everyone from entry-level to senior professionals. None of the other such career guides compare with this one. It stands out because it: 1) explains how the people doing the hiring think, so that you can win them over on paper and then in your interview; 2) has an engaging, reader-friendly style; 3) explains every step of the job-hunting process - from little-known ways for finding openings to getting ahead on the job.

This book covers everything. Whether you are trying to get your first Truck Transportation, Warehousing and Logistics Management Job or move up in the system, get this book. ... Read more

My little girl loves this book, and her mama does too.It reads well, and if you are a parent who loves the open road, riding the rails, truck stops, honkey tonk, and that type of thing you might like the book too. We've had it out of the library for four months and its still a fave.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not a must have
I like the clever rhyme scheme that the author employs in his text, but the visuals are very linear and look like they were all drawn on a computer. A silly, fun book to read, I don't think it is a must have for a home library unless you have lots of disposable income.

My 2-year-old son loves trucks and has several truck books, including this one. This particular book is pretty disappointing, unfortunately -- the illustrations are poorly drawn and the text is written in a hard-to-read italic font, which frustrates him because he's recognizing a lot of letters now and can't spot the letters he knows when they're in italics. The story lacks interest, too. I recommend "My First Truck Board Book" edited by Constance Robinson (DK Press) as a much better alternative.

We picked up this book from our library's annual sale and it turned into the absolute favorite for both of my boys when they were 2 and 3 years old, and they still ask for it by title now that they are a tad older. It's got great simple lyrics, and awesome pictures and they beg for the story all the time. They love the garbage trucks eating all the trash, and to look at all the face on the last pages and guess which one looks most like different people we know.I'd love to know who all the faces are .... some I can guess, but many not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read-Aloud Book - Wonderful Artwork
One of my oldest son's favorite picture books.I think I must have read this one a thousand times.TRASH TRUCKS!TRASH TRUCKS!TRASH TRUCKS!The great thing about this book... besides being about garbage trucks of course... is the fabulous, original artwork by Daniel Kirk.No matter how many times we read this one, there was always something new my son was pointing out.AND it was a very fun read-aloud.I think it's strange that this one isn't more popular or at least that I don't see it around as often as I would have thought. It was such a huge favorite in our house, I'd recommend to anyone with young truck fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars good kids book
All 5 of my kids loved this book - both boys and girls. We checked it out over and over from the library. When they lost their copy, we decided to purchase one for ourselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great title for all ages.
Here come Kim and her pal Pete this book is a reading treat. I have read this book to my children countless times. They know it verse by verse, we love looking at all the famous people on the last page throwing out their trash, including the author and Corkscrew from Skate Board Monsters.I even entertained college students with this hip hop adventure.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book for kids- really keeps them interested!
As much as I disliked this book at first, I must admit that my 2 year old son absolutely loves it!For the reader, it is a bit difficult at first- but after the first "read it again, Mommy" I think that anyone will find this to be a great one for the kids (and you may just find yourself enjoying it, too!) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars loads of trucks
Great book for any little truck lover. It has great pictures of about every truck a little kid could see on the road. Our son soon learned the names of every truck in the book and points them out when we are out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I ordered.
Ordered this product new, and had it shipped to me with all the stickers already placed; some not even in the appropriate places.

Other than that, the book was in decent condition, but it would have been nice to receive what I was under the impression I was purchasing.

I have contacted the vendor Beaglebooks46 and am awaiting a response to my request of either me shipping back the book for the same book or a similar book in new condition, or a refund.

I will post the response.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 1-year-old LOVES this book!
We bought this book at a used book store and my 1-year-old cannot get enough of it!In general, he is a very enthusiastic reader, but this is certainly one of his favorites! He sits in his car seat and reads it for long periods of time while we commute back and forth to work/day care each day!He is especially enamored with the dump truck page and the last page with the children dressed up in outfits of various professions.I highly recommend this book and am searching Amazon for others in this series for Christmas presents!

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
I have put this book in a 2 year old preschool class. The kids love it. If the teacher pulls it out she instantly has both girls and boys gathered around her.

4-0 out of 5 stars My toddler's obsession!
We were given this book several months ago, and initially my son was indifferent to it. At about 13 months, he became very interested in books. A few weeks ago, he became obsessed with this book. We keep a stack of board books in his playroom, and he will go through the whole stack to find this one and bring it to me. If I try to read a different book, he will get this one and push it at me until I read it. He will eagerly listen to it 5 or 6 times in a row. The only reason I'm giving it four, not five, stars is because I've gotten a bit sick of it!
The text includes many different kinds of trucks, though the language for most is not something a newly-verbal child can emulate. (Tractor with plow, etc.) The font is clear (essential for reading upside down so the child can see the page) and the photos are bright, clear, and engaging. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I would look elsewhere.
Purchased this (& several other) Golden Books for my kids (under 5 yrs old). The artwork is nice but the story is rather pointless. One of the redeeming qualities of these classic old books is a redemptive theme or underlying character message. The man essentially tips farm animals in his dump truck for fun. Given the great reviews, I suppose I had hoped for more.
Two alternatives from the same classic period I would recommend exponentially over this: The Fire Engine Book (heroism, courage) or Animal Orchestra (instrument recognition/introduction, teamwork).
p.s. - Kudos to Amazon for the 4-for-3 promotion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Memories from childhood
I bought this book for my nephew for his 2nd birthday and he loves it!I have such fond memories of Golden Books from my own childhood. They were just my size and I loved all the stories.A great way to get kids interested in reading.

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs A Slight Revision
I grew up with this little book in our home. Perhaps I was an over-sensitive little girl, but I found the Happy Man of the story to be slightly alarming. This may have had something to do with his being both big (I was very small) and unshaven. But I recently bought it for my three-year-old grandson because I remembered the funny animals and how delighted they were with their special ride. And while it is still a simple story (and hey boomers out there - didn't Captain Kangaroo read this one to us?) very suitable for preschoolers, I find it troubling, in the year 2010, to see a happy stranger inviting other strangers into his truck for a ride. It would take only modest editing to make it clear that the farm animals and the driver are old friends glad to see each other again and eager to take a ride together for old time's sake.

4-0 out of 5 stars this book is redundant and creepy
that truck driver freaks my wife out.my kid is too young to be freaked out but one day...

5-0 out of 5 stars grate little book
My little nephew will love this book, he loves trucks and animals.
and will be ease for him to read when he gets older.

5-0 out of 5 stars Engaging
My 4 year old is a big fan of bob the builder and all building and truck related stuff. He loves this book. Nice simple rhymes with bright color full pages describe all the different things a dump truck can do. We HAVE to read this every day !

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the perfect little story in rhyme for your little truck lover!"RRR-RRR-RRR!"
Hard Hat Pete was driving his dump truck "rattle-rattle-clatter" down the street. He had a full load of "stones and rocks" and was on his way to dump them.It would be a busy day for the dump truck. The streets were busy. There was a truck from a fish market going one way and a tow truck going the other.People were stopping to talk to each other, a woman was walking her puppy and a couple of pigeons were walking on the sidewalk.Once Hard Hat Pete arrived at the building site, his day had begun.

"I'm a little dump truck
parking in the road,
RRR-RRR-RRR,
dumping out my load."

This is the perfect little story in rhyme for your little truck lover. You'll fall in love with Hard Hat Pete! This is one of those great little, rhythmical stories that doesn't miss a beat and is a joy to read. The vehicles in this book all have those wide-eyes that give them that "I'm just going to want you to read me again and again" message to preschoolers. One nice thing about this book is that with the heavy duty binding and thick pages it's not going to be a problem when little hands turn these pages over and over again looking at the pictures. The end papers have numerous trucks to visit with. This one will be a BIG hit with your truck lover! ... Here come the trucks: fire engines and dump trucks, big rigs and tow trucks all roar into action. In his first pop-up book since his bestselling Dinosaur Stomp four years ago, Paul Stickland brings together terrific paper-engineering skills with an uncanny knack of infusing realistically-detailed vehicles with charm and humor.

The simple chant-along text-the hallmark of the Sticklands' DINOSAUR ROAR-makes this a fabulous read-aloud must for all young truckers. The sturdy pop-ups are self-activating: an ideal book even for younger readers who will want to peer under the shiny hood of the semi or watch an overheated engine explode in smoke. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Birthday Gift for 2-3 year olds!
This book is a hit with boys and girls age 2-3.Highly recommend.Flowing prose, GREAT and kind of surprisingly eye-popping pop ups.Kids will be more fascinated and less likely to tear this one, but still read it with supervision if you want it to last.My daughter almost pulled the truck off because she wanted to "see the engine."The engine. Under the hood. Made of paper. She would have been very very sad had she actually torn the thing.

3-0 out of 5 stars great book but not well made
my daughter loves this pop up book, but two different pages broke on the very first try.they are not easy to glue and tape back down either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!
This is my son's favorite book.Coaxing him to bed with the promise of reading "Truck Jam" makes a parent's job easy!He loves the big bold pictures that jump out in full detail. We usually read the book 2-3 times in a row. It's just long enough to be the perfect bed-time activity.Love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Big fun!
This is my son's favorite "comfort book".I bought it for him when he was 3 years old, and now, a year later, I'm having to buy another one--the first one has been loved to shreds. The fact that it took a year is evidence of the wonderful durability of the pop-up images! The pop-up images are both BIG and colorful, and the simple rhymes are quickly learned by heart. My son absolutely loves this book, and will "read" it to himself over and over (when he's not demanding that I read it to him!).

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Book!!
My husband and I purchased this book for our nephew this last Christmas. Since he received it he won't stop asking his mom to read it to him.
The pictures in this book are so cool and fun! I may actually buy this for my other nephew for his birthday in March. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars tittled incorrectly
pitiful.this is a short intro to primitive psyc behavior on personal awareness for the road.if it has anything to do with trucking, i missed it.

2-0 out of 5 stars More BS from a "wanna be"....(who could'nt take it...)
After reading this book (and surviving 29 years in the trucking industry) I am greatly inclined to agree with Mr. Pendergast's points of view. Too much is wasted on trying to fit in with a lifestyle that needs to change, not "be adjusted" to. Sweatshops on Wheels was the definitive book on the current "race to the bottom" of the trucking industry. Want poor wages (when you add up your TOTAL time put in) and NO life ? No real health benefeits or pension (if your non-union) ? Then by all means come join us in the trucking industry and completely throw your life away. Everyone TALKS about doing something to help the driver, but as usual nothing is ever done. Truck drivers are STILL the ONLY labor group in the United States NOT covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act. And this book still does'nt address that.. ... Read more
