4-0 out of 5 stars 1st book of series - starts series off kind of slow
I really did like this series when I finished the final book. This first book was good... yes kind of predictable but I was in the mood for predictable romance's soo... I read to the end and bought the second book. What a difference... the second and third books are THE BEST in the series.Do read this one so you can understand the base, however, know it is kind of dry and you'll be pulling to finish a bit.Overall though I gave it four stars because - well... I just liked it regardless of it's predictability.

4-0 out of 5 stars take a journey to the Yukon!
this was my first book by tracie peterson, my friend suggested that I purchase all three books at once and i did. I'm GLAD I did! this was a good book about a young lady who finds herself in a desperate situation--loyalty to her family or to what she knows is right. Grace flees to the north, a very different atmosphere and life than that of chicago. On her way she meets peter--and of course for those who read historical fiction laced with romance--there will be some problems along the way before they realize they love each other. This book has a fantastic twist and if you don't have the next book i think you might regret it. In this series I went directly from one book to the next, and each new book continues the story of the previous one and develops the new story. So you will hear about Grace and peter's life well into the third book and i really enjoyed that! Pick up this series and some hot chocolate!

5-0 out of 5 stars Adventure Awaits
The entire Yukon series along with the Alaskan Quest series, was a romantic and historical adventure in the northern wilderness. This is a trip not to pass up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Historical Fiction/Romance
This novel takes place during the Yukon gold rush. It captivates you with the struggles of the sweet, privileged Grace Hawkins and tenacious, out spoken Karen Pierce as they flee Martin Paxton--the man who has sworn to ruin the Hawkins forever. From the disguised flight from her fiance to rafting the rapids of the Yukon, this book series holds more than one interesting (and heartbreaking) situation after another.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good!
I am very surprised at the first two reviews!!I loved this series.I read all 3 books in about 3 weeks. They are wonderfully done, with history, romance, action, and great characters. You should see for yourself!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Sophomoric Collection Of The Unexplained
This is a collection of edited snippets from 19th century and early 20th century newspapers out of the Yukon and Alaska, setting forth unsubstantiated stories of lost mines, mysterious tribes, living mammoths, hidden valleys, and other various anomalies from those regions. The author makes no attempt to comment on the veracity of any of the stories, some of which have been commented upon in more detail in other more comprehensive books dealing with similar controversial or unexplained phenomena and the like. It's a quick and mildly entertaining read, but those who require more details and substance to such intriguing mysteries should look elsewhere. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In addition to numbered highways, the Yukon has several other roads that are maintained by the territorial government. The Aishihik Road (pronounced aysh-ee-ack) is an 84 mile road from the Alaska Highway at Canyon Creek (historic mile 996) to the former airfield of Aishihik at the north end of Aishihik Lake. The airfield was part of the Northwest Staging Route, but was effectively abandoned in 1968. Since then, the Yukon government only maintains the first 27 miles of road, which serves two campgrounds and the Aishihik Lake hydroelectric station. The Champagne-Aishihik First Nation (CAFN) has an aboriginal interest in Aishihik and uses the location for traditional gatherings; it has used the site to host a gathering of the Council of Yukon First Nations when the rotation among member first nations took the gathering to the CAFN. The Annie Lake Road is an 18-mile road in Mount Lorne hamlet that services residential areas, plus a golf course. During the 1980s, the Skukum Gold Mine made use of the road to connect across the Wheaton River to its gold mining operations. ... Read more

Excerpt: 2nd Avenue is the main arterial, north-south route that roughly parallels the Yukon River in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. The downtown core of Whitehorse is developed partially along the route. 2nd Avenue is numbered as such as the second roadway from the Yukon River (1st Avenue is a much shorter local street closer to the edge of the river). Many important public and commercial buildings in Whitehorse, Yukon are located along the street. 2nd Avenue's north section, officially the "2nd Avenue Extension" past Black Street, continues along the same alignment to approximately four blocks north of Ogilvie, then turns west-southwest, passes the beginning of Quartz Road and ends at 4th Avenue, just south of where 4th Avenue becomes Two Mile Hill Road, which eventually leads to Yukon Highway 1 (Alaska Highway) and Yukon Highway 2 (Klondike Highway). The south end of the road splits into two: Robert Service Way, which leads to Highway 1 as well, and Lewes Boulevard, which leads to the large subdivision of Riverdale. Roads in downtown Whitehorse are named mostly after pioneers and well-known early Yukoners. 4th Avenue is an important secondary arterial, north-south route that roughly parallels the Yukon River in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=11981786 ...
