Accessible Academic history
Both Coates and Morrison are well known inside Canadian academic circles for their work on Northern history (Land of the Midnight Sun; Taking the North Down With Her).This work builds on those previous contributions.'Strange Things Done' is easy to read, and is not just a work for other academics.In fact, this book belongs both in the 'True Crime' and the 'History' sections of book stores.
Murder is a fascinating topic, and this book is put together in such a way that the reader becomes aquainted with Yukon history through intriguing stories and flowing narrative.One does not have to be an expert in Northern History to enjoy this book - I certainly am not.I enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend it to anyone interested in histories of Canada, the North, or even murder in general. ... This book is very informative and interesting. It provides information about all aspects of the Yukon. It is a must-read book for anyone planning on traveling to the Territory.For those who have not yet been to the Yukon, this book will make you want to travel there in order to experience the majestic geology, and learn of its unique history.For those who have been, this book will remind you once again of the amazing landscapes and of the interesting Yukoners who's lives add so much character to this wonderful area of Canada.Having just returned from a visit to the Yukon, I recommend this as the first book anyone should read on the subject whether you are planning a visit or simply reading to learn more about the world.

I was floored by this book.It is diary of a group of men traveling to the yukon in search of gold.I was amazed at the things that they went through.In our relatively easy modren life, It is good to read about what extremes people would go through in the old days.
