5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I asked for
Description matches the state of the book perfectly and even includes extra student media that was not mentioned on the Amazon listing. The book came when the estimate said it would and that makes me a completely satisfied customer.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent seller.
Excellent Seller. Item received promptly! Post office made a note that the book was slightly damaged in transit, but it's perfectly fine! Thanks!

3-0 out of 5 stars Histology
This is the hardest text to read. The pictures are awesome but the text is impossible to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great well prepared comprehensive book
This is the first book combining both histology, molecular biology and pathology together in a clear language and very well organized fashion.
Thanks a lot to you and to the author for his effort.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for histology class
The pictures were the selling point in this book. It did go a little too far in depth for my histology class at the time, talking about subunit x of protein y connects to this subunit in this way. However, it became more useful when I got to phys and path. The diagrams were everything, and they supplemented the text well. It did not have as many real microscopic pictures as Wheaters, but I found the drawings more useful than just staring at a light pink blob by a darker pink blob. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Color Atlas of Veterinary Histology
This was bought for work purposes. It has been a good help when I am in need of this type of information for lab work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Bacha and her husband Rock!
I honestly would not have passed her class without her book. A bunch of us cut the pictures out and put them on note cards which we would write the info on the back of. It really helped us to study. Dr. Bacha was a great teacher and this book is a testiment to her brilliance!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Service, Good condition, Fast shipping
The book came as described, which was new! and in a timely fashion. Service was great, I plan on buying more books through Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a book!!!
An amazing book with great colorful pictures. It begins from how to prepare histologic sections to the description of the most important tissues, organs and systems of eight species (dog, cat, horse, cow, sheep, goat, pig, and chicken). Before the pictures, the book gives you a very useful and brief chapter introduction. It also has a detailed glossary containing nearly 750 words. A necesary book for a veterinary student. El mejor libro de histologia veterinaria que he visto!

5-0 out of 5 stars an atlas with great pictures and concise text
This atlas provides wonderful full color pictures of cells and tissues from several animal groups. The pictures are logically grouped by tissue type with examples from different species being shown together. Many of the sections have brief, but useful introductions. All the pictures are well labeled and have a brief discription of important characteristics of the specific cells or tissue types presented.

It likely to be useful to individuals working in veterinary science, animal science or animal research. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
This book is packed with wonderfully vibrant, colorful, informative pictures. The text is clear and concise and quite well written. The pairing of the two makes the material completely accessible for everyone; from a well-trained practitioner to someone just interested in learning more about histology.
The color photos really are works of art!

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST review of Histology!
Forget about "USMLE Road Map: Histology", "Rapid Review: Histology and Cell Biology ", "BRS Cell Biology and Histology" and "High-Yield Histopathology" - this book is much better and all you need for the coursework and for the USMLE step 1!
Actually, on the boards there are no histology MCQs - still, you need to know histology in order understand pathology (when you are a beginner) and (what's much more important, when you are preparing for the USMLE Step 1) to learn how to "read" microsopic slides of pathology - this will be heavily tested on boards.
This board-oriented book serves both these purposes very well - unlike all above mentioned reviews of histology, it's virtually packed with gorgeous and very helpful full color illustrations - relevant explanations are kept as concise and to-the-point, as possible.
Also, there is just the right number of integrations with other basic subjects, which, being very relevant, don't distract you from the main subject - unlike that in "High-Yield Histopathology".
With this book you'll not only excell on the boards, but master histology and cell biology as well! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great review book
This is a great review book for the USMLE. It has a number of questions on various topics in USMLE format and the best part are the detailed, descriptive answers that are at the end of each section.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent practice problem book
As a book to come back to review once you've learned all systems and pathology, this book might be good. If you're trying to study for a class (such as Anatomy, Histology or Cell Biology), and want to use this book to focus you on boards - oriented material, this book falls short. The questions are very few and far between, especially in the Histology section, and all the pictures are in black and white!Who looks at anything in histology in black and white???Otherwise, the questions are difficult, but only in that they combine concepts such as disease processes, immunology, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good practice for Miniboards
If your school uses miniboards for anatomy and histo, you should get this book. I thought the questions were on the harder side compared to the rest of the questions on the miniboard, so I suggest going through the BRS questions and studying first before going through the Pretest questions. If you do well on Pretest, you'll do well on the miniboards. If you don't understand a question, the answers have pretty thorough explanations. And if you still don't get it, each answer lists the page numbers for the main texts on that topic, like Moore for anatomy and Junqueira for histo. ... Read more

    Product Description

The study of histology requires that students be able to recognise structures within cells and tissues at varying levels of magnification, and understand their function within the human body. Since histology is a visual subject, high quality images of cells and tissues are vital as a component of course material. In this book, concise text relates the structures seen in the images to biological function, and integrates clinical relevance by describing how the histology of tissues is affected in abnormal conditions.

1-0 out of 5 stars amazon messed up my order and won't let me rate my seller
I needed this book and it was "cancelled"

horrible service! and i am not allowed to give a negative review to the person who sold me the used book.

i guess it's better for business to lie to customers and allow people who don't deserve a good ranking to only get positive reviews.

AMAZON IS UNETHIICAL IN IT'S BUSINESS PRACTICES AND IT DISGUST ME.

4-0 out of 5 stars My shoulders thank you
I purchased this book as an optional reading for my histology course. I did not use it as much as might be necessary for other courses but I was influenced by the fact that it is soft cover, small and lightweight making it easier to carry, and thus more likely to be read. I have used another histology book which was concise and very readable, this one is similar except that the images are in color and there are more diagrams to illustrate the histology in addition to microscopy images.

I don't what's wrong with the rest of you given saying this book is the best ever.Obviously, you have never read it.This book is the most poorly written text I have ever read.It mentions one thing and continues to explain it three pages later. It contradicts itself and is overly verbose.Often times, it is too confusing to follow the logic of the text.Whoever wrote this book should re-evaluate the people it is directed towards and rewrite it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must buy, outstanding textbook
This book is simply excellent. It has great pictures and it helped my with my histology class in med school. It is easy to read and it makes histology a lot more interesting and fun to learn. It also cut some of my study time since it is not filled with unnecessay information---it gets right to the point. My study group and I also used the following that is also on amazon:
Histology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers ISBN: 0971999686
The second book was quite revealing with the kind of questions we saw on our histology exams. We all got B's and A's after using both these books. In addition, both these books helped me on the USLME 1.I would definietly get these books.

3-0 out of 5 stars This has the potential to be a fine book....
...just as soon as it comes out in the 3rd edition, assuming that the authors get a substantial amount of in-depth reviewing help in getting the bugs ironed out of it before then.

I've been using this book for a Microanatomy course in medical school.I liked this book initially, but there have been more than a couple of occasions where I've had to go to other sources for explanations of material that should have been clearer in the text. Also, based on errors and contradictions with other sources I've found so far, I've since come to believe that one can believe maybe 96-98% of the information printed in it. Perhaps the authors just 'winged it' now and then or maybe one or the other had senior moments (Hiatt is retired) and 'remembered' a few too many details to be true which unfortunately aren't.Regardless, if you're not already conversant with the subject and aren't comparing what you read here to what you glean elsewhere, good luck in figuring out what's accurate and what isn't.

It's still too early for me to have a really strong opinion of the competition, but based on G&H's relatively poor treatment of odontogenesis (tooth development), I was inspired to pick up the excellent-looking new (4th) edition of Ross, Kaye, and Pawlina's"Histology - A Text And Atlas".Their diagrams and coverage (for this subject area at least) are also not only more readable, but also more comprehensive. (This is particularly ironic, given that Gartner and Hiatt both hail from a school of dentistry.) Also, unlike G&H's text, Ross et al's latest effort *is* usable as a histology atlas (in my non-expert opinion at least), which helps greatly when one needs to know not only how things work but also what they look like. Given that the Ross book is also well written, G&H's effort is left with precious little to recommend it. Admittedly this is but one subject area among many so it's too early to say for sure, but for now at least Ross et al seem to have produced the clear winner. ... Read more

    Product Description
This is a reference text to which teachers, graduate students, and biomedical investigators can turn for information. In molecular biology, much of the research is done on cell fractions or on cell lines that can be cultivated in vitro. While much is being learned, the assumption that cells function in the controlled environment of the culture vessel in exactly the same way that they do in the intact organism is questionable. Bloom and Fawcett serves as a valuable repository of information needed by molecular biologists when they attempt to apply their skills to the heterogeneous associations of interacting cells that make up the tissues and organs of the body. The book begins with a detailed description of the structure and function of the cell and its several organelles. This is followed by chapters on each of the basic tissues and on the organization of each of the organs. While other textbooks of histology confine themselves to coverage of the microscopic structures of tissues and organs, Bloom and Fawcett is distinguished by the inclusion of brief sections on the histophysiology of each of the organs. This book should be of interest to anatomists, cell biologists and the respective support institutions. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Bloom and Fawcett :A Textbook of Histology (white book)
I used this book in both my undergraduate science courses and those in medical school during the first two years. This text has excellent photos of electron microscope images, as well as micrographs, schematic depictions, photomicrographs and more. I have seen all or most of these depictions in many of my practical examinations and was adequately prepared because of this book. The text is clear, concise and informative.I highly recommend this book without hesitation.Good luck finding one, though! My histology instructor really wanted to buy mine, but I wouldn't sell! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Bought it but hardly used it
People try to sell on this during Cell Bio/Histology in med school but it's really unnecessary. Pretty pictures, but you can likely find them online for free.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great histology book!
I recommend this book both to medical students who are studying histology for the first time and to doctors. I, as a pathology resident, found this book very helpful for studying the normal structure of organs because of its great pictures (including special stains and electron microscopy) and its easy-to-understand yet detailed text. Also the clinical, physiological and cell biological correlations (presented as text boxes throughout the book) help you a lot in getting a more clear picture about the presented organ or tissue.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makes a difficult topic very approachable
This is a very well produced book wilth many illustrations which make histology, a topic I've taught but never mastered, make more sense. While the book is very approachable, it is still very much in-depth and if you are looking for a more introductory text, you may want to consider getting an atlas to begin. However, medical and graduate students would do very well with this text since it bridges the molecular mechanisms active in cells to the microscopic structure of tissues and organs. It also brings the microscopic structure and function into view regarding the gross anatomical perspective as well, giving a top-to-bottom appraisal of histology. This would have been a five-star rating if only the pages were not so whispy that my highlighter bled through to the other side of the page repeatedly.Students, buy this book with confidence, but underline rather than highlight!

5-0 out of 5 stars very good
This is the best histology book I have seen. Good for molecular biology researchers as well-better then many standard textbooks. Very good discussions of development of cell types as well as structural histology.

5-0 out of 5 stars I really like histology and this book
The photos are very good in this book. If you are taking histology I do recommend this one. This is a complete text. Each subject area is expertly done (example)muscle tissue, bone, skin etc.
If you want also a great studying tool to help you prepare for your exams, I recommend HISTOLOGY STUDY GUIDE: KEY REVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS author Patrick Leonardi. This helped me!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Bloom and Fawcett: Concise Histology
book isn't bad, you definately need a good atlas to go along with it.But lays out the details pretty nicely

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for histology
I first just relied on the classnotes to try to pass my medical histology exams.I learned the hard way by falling the midterm.I then used this book and of course it helped me immensely.I also used (ISBN # 0971999686) Histology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers. This study guide helped me to prepare for the final and the kind of questions to look out for.I got an A on my final with the aid of these two books. Both well worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great concise information for histology class
I'm a med student and used this book to help me with my medical microbiology class. The pictures are clear and helped me to get a mental picture of histology, in this way, it was easier to remember the facts for the test. However, I also used the following:
Histology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi
The second book focused on the kind of questions that were asked on my medical histology exams. In this way, it better prepared me for the type of questions to look out for. Both books are highly recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars Get the unabridged version
The only reason this book gets a 2 is because is does have some nice electron micrographs. But my praise for the book stops there. "Concise" doesn't begin to describe how concise this book actually is. Its depth of topic exploration does not delve any further than "This is a kidney" or "This is a heart." Which Ialready knew of course. Yes, I'm being slightly sarcastic, but you get the point. This was required for our first year medical class (why?), and yet our professors' lectures always exceeded the information contained in this book. I'm a second year now, and when I wish to brush up on my histology in order to help me understand pathology, I have no reference book! Do yourself a favor and buy the unabridged version if you can find it (it's out of print now). Surprisingly, this version is EXCELLENT and is considered to be the THE authoritative histology text. Don't waste your money... ... Read more

    Product Description
Histology is the discipline of biology that involves the microscopic examination of thin  stained tissue sections in order to study their structure and correlate it with function. Histology can detect signs of disease not easily recognized on gross examination and can therefore be of interest in fish health supervision. The aim of this volume is to present a general reference guide providing an extensive set of histological images of fishes (about 40 species). This atlas is designed for use by students and researchers, biologists, ichthyologists, fish farmers, veterinarians working in fisheries and, of course, by comparative histologists who want to learn more about the fish world. ...
