5-0 out of 5 stars 2nd year med student
great review- same lady that wrote THE book wrote this review book-
great practice questions with explanations!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good Review
This is a good review book. But you would need a reference book also since BRS Physiology is very compact.

5-0 out of 5 stars Forget Your Other Textbook
Truthfully, you'll get lots of conflicting opinions from med students when it comes to which review books are the best for each course.Everyone has their own favorite, but this is the one book I hear consistently praised by everyone I've met from a wide variety of med schools across the US.Honestly, I'm not sure why this book works so well. The book is pretty short, & there aren't that many review questions with it.In fact, it's pretty cut & dry, but I think it's the straight to the point tone that makes this book great.Phys is a conceptual course, & Dr. Costanzo shows you only what you need to understand why a physiological principle is what it is, & then will build on it with relevant applications. Also, she does a good job of deconstructing all the fun graphs you'll see in your phys course - always the worst part of everyone's phys experience. She makes it bearable, though, especially in the cardiovascular & pulmonary chapters.I thought that some of the disorders discussed in the Renal chapter weren't necessary & made discussion of the topic less straightforward than what is typical of the book, & I do wish there were a chapter for musculoskeletal physiology. These, however, are pretty minor complaints (muscles & bones were pretty minor topics in my phys course, though, I suppose that would be different if we had a larger MS unit).I'd recommend supplementing it with a larger book of review questions (like Guyton's Review), but it's definitely a great place to start learning about phys topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can be used as primary text.
My school has a unique curriculum, we only have a year of basic sciences before going to clinic. As a result, everything, including Physiology, was ridiculously crammed. We had to read cardiac physiology in a NIGHT, with about 100 pages+ from a Guyton physiology to understand on first reading. But this BRS Physiology was sufficient even for first learning. Just read the book and if there is any point that you are interested to pursue deeper or are not sure about, check it in a conventional textbook like Guyton.

I highly recommend BRS physiology for medical students who are overwhelmed and desperate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book. Great support.
I love this book for the simple yet effective writing style, clear diagrams with explanations.
When I had a question about one of the physiology concepts, I contacted the author of the book and got a fast response explaining what I needed.
I recommend this book to every physiology newcomer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent physiology book for a med student
Best physiology book on the market for a med student to understand the fundamentals of physiology.

5-0 out of 5 stars good book
I had read the BRS Physio book by the same author, and although helpful, I didn't like how it lacked detailed. It seemed as if some parts of the puzzle were left out because it was assumed we'd still remember. But This book filled in those dots. So I liked it for its extra detail.

5-0 out of 5 stars Concise and Thorough
This is a great book.It has good up to date information that is thorough but yet concise enough to be able to get to the important information.Student consult is helpful.Could have information on additional subjects, energy, metabolism, and so forth, but otherwise good book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Favorite of the lower quartile

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners!!!
I purchased this book with the intention of learning some basic concepts of anatomy and physiology.I seem to have developed an interest in this subject area just on hearing other friends talk about nursing, working in hospitals etc...so I figured this was a great way to start learning, and I was right!

As I read through this book (I have not completed it as of this review; only up to chapter 8), the material is presented in the simplest terms possible.Appropriate medical terminology is used when discussing certain subjects, but this book is very easy to understand. It takes more than just reading this book to comprehend what you are reading, the reader must take initiative to learn more.At times, it can be overwhelming because there are complex chemistry / microbiology parts when you get to the part about glycolosis and subjects like it, but taking your time; and re-reading over it enables you to grasp the basic concepts of the more complex parts of this book. What i found to be very helpful, is in conjunction with this book, making use of video lectures for a more interactive learning experience.I use youtube a lot, because reading this book is GREAT, but reading alone is not good enough.Doing searches on youtube for videos on things like the circulatory system, DNA and cell structures will help the reader of this book better understand what they are reading.Because not only are you reading, you can actually see how things work inside the body in terms of our anatomy and physiology.

There is a channel on youtube which I found most helpful, it is called: khanacademy. There are videos on "DNA" and "Parts of a cell" that are very helpful and compliment the reading of this book nicely! It took me a while to find this youtube channel.Be very careful as any joe shmoe can put anything up on youtube. But the khanacademy is the absolute best I have found. However, always take what you find on youtube with a little caution.I have read many reviews about the khanacademy and he has even been featured on CNN, interviewed on KPBS etc...so...just something to think about as you ready this book.

I return to college in a few months so I figured learning as much as I can beforehand will make my experience in school more enjoyable and make the learning progress smoothly. With the help of this book, hearing the terminology and topics in a classroom will not be as foreign to me as I have never studied this area before.

Overall a GREAT book; and the ONLY thing I could say needed to be improved is, not with the written material, but I feel that an interactive DVD encyclopedia made specifically to anatomy and physiology should be included with this book. This minor detail was not enough for me to lower the rating from a Five-star to anything lower. This is truly a great book at a fair price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy and great companion book for college anatomy
I found this book very easy and helpful. I am taking a college anatomy class that I needed something simplify some of the language. This book is great. It has simplified many terms and helped me come up with memory tricks.

This book is not for someone who wants in depth anatomy and terminology. This would be great for a high school student that wants to a start on anatomy before college or someone like me taking college anatomy that wants some of the terms simplified.

Like I said not in depth anatomy. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT a Coloring Book.Tiny hard-to-read text and Tiny drawings.
This book is not what I expected. It is not a coloring book.It contains mostly text, with just a few tiny drawings. The text is very difficult to read because it is a small font size.

The drawings are tiny and sloppy -- difficult to actually color. Most of the "coloring" areas are actually words written in childish bubble letter style.

This book is more like a textbook, but in a very cheap format.

I was extremely disappointed in this "Coloring Book".It is not helpful at all.I purchased this to assist me in my college-level Anatomy & Physiology class. It is not helpful at all - not a learning tool.So I gave it to my 5 year old niece -- she won't even color in it because it doesn't have anything to color.

The author needs to hire a new illustrator and layout designer -- the pictures are terrible and the text is hard to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Physiology
The book arrived quickly and in pristine condition. This book is full of inforation and presents in the info in a way that makes it easier to synthisize

5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful!
The book is very helpful if you are willing to do the work.Love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Experience
The book came in the condition as stated by the seller. Arrival was reasonable. Rates the seller and this transaction A+.

5-0 out of 5 stars very helpful for nursing school
I got this book as a study aid to prepare for anatomy & physiology classes that are required prerequisites for the nursing program I plan to apply to. This book, along with its companion, Anatomy Coloring Book, is really very helpful. The plates are beautifully drawn, the instructions for coloring are clear and concise, and the accompanying text provides a useful summary of the anatomical or physiological feature being shown. The information is up to date and appears to have few errors although there is, very occasionally, a typo. The tactile and visual experience of coloring is really good to help retain and understand the information being conveyed. It is much more effective than reading and re-reading text, or staring at diagrams and trying to memorize everything that's labeled. Although I have two college degrees, both are in liberal arts and I finished them in the late 1990s, so I have limited exposure to hard science classes at the college level. By going through these two books on my own, I feel much better prepared for the anatomy & physiology class I'll be starting this fall. I would recommend them to anyone who feels a need for a study aid, wants to prepare for an anatomy or physiology class, or is just interested in how the human body works. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Textbook Review
The book was just as described and in great condition! The seller shipped the book right away. I would buy from this seller again!

5-0 out of 5 stars My A&P book
This book will be used in both my A&P I and II classes, so it's a good bang-for-your-buck, so to speak.I am into Chapter 5 of this book and so far, I love it!It has everything and is easy to study with - the text is worded clearly, the font size is good, the tables, diagrams and pictures are relevant and clear, the self-quizzes are placed strategically to keep you focused (they are detailed and good), and the clinical connection boxes are not obtrusive (yet interesting and helpful if you want them).Additionally, this book comes with a card with a code on it, which you use to log into the publisher's website. There you find an enormous amount of extra study tools related directly to the text (of course!) - and they are fantastic, may I add. This book is just plainly a great resource for A&P students and beyond, I would think.I would highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This book is great, it has all the information you need. I usually seel my textbooks back, but am reconsidering keeping it for a great reference, since I will be taking A&P II. It is a very HEAVY books, but it holds alot of infomation.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT
The shipper is very punctual. The condition of the book was not new as stated because it was not in the original packaging, however it had no markings and was not beat up so the book was either barley used or kept in really good condition.I would buy fromt this shipper again

5-0 out of 5 stars Concise, but not for the faint of heart
Invariably, if you are studying pulmonary physiology or respiratory systems or anesthesia or anything involving the lung, you have heard of "West's zones of the lung."Take it from the source. And while at first glance you might think you can get through this text in an hour, be prepared, it reads like Finnegan's Wake.....well, maybe more like Ullyses.
You should expect to read this book cover to cover at least twice. Some sections will require the same amount of time you would engaging a much longer, more belaboured text and your brain might feel like scrambled eggs. But once you've read and understood West, you understand lung and respiratory physiology.
Full of useful diagrams and explanations, the only thing i felt this book lacked was a good flow from one subject to another. But from PFT's, to alveolar function and cellular physiology, this book will cover everything you need to know.

1-0 out of 5 stars poorly written
This book does not explain concepts very clearly. There are other more lucid texts available for this subject. Most of the figures in the book are graphs (2D cartesian plots) which are poorly explained in either the captions or the main text. My reading of this book was largely supplemented by accessing other resources because the book's poorly written style is not conducive to learning the material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential for physiology course and boards!
Don't think twice.Buy it.You need it.It's a tiny book and can be read in a day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Half of book was upside down
Part of the book was bound in reverse. I just would have like to have known ahead of time. Other wise the book is good condition and it came promptly.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for learning respiratory physiology
My teacher did not provide the best lectures for the respiratory section of my medical physiology. However, I discovered that this is a text that he used for most of his figures! This book really breaks down all the respiratory physiology topics and I would recommend it to anyone taking a medical physiology course! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous
I am furious after dealing with TextBooksRus and will never do business with them or any amazon user who works with them. They sent me a horrendous book, supposed to be in "Good" condition.I paid $100 for a book that came with ripped pages, and a heavily worn cover.I have pictures upon opening the package that I will upload.I dropped the class and when I tried to return the book, TextbooksRus refused to take it back.Completely unsatisfied.

5-0 out of 5 stars fast and efficient
The book came reasonably quickly.I would mention that it didn't come with the CD that usually accompanies the book when you purchase it new... but I got it used, for a great price, so I wasn't really expecting the CD.There was only minimal underlining/highlighting/marginal notes, not at all a problem. The book is well written, has easy to read diagrams, and explains Human anatomy in a nice overview that isn't too indepth nor does it gloss over everything.Overall, I was very happy with the service from the seller, and from the book itself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Book!!
The other book we had got horribly disfigured from water damage. We were not sure if we could find this particular book again, because of the publication date. However, Amazon came through once again and had the book in extremely good condition!!Thanks Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars very easy to understand
the book is being used for my human anatomy class, and its pretty helpful with the simple to understand images and text. good for learning complex stuff in a simple manner. recommend for highschool-early college students.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for Basic Course
This is an excellent source for a basic understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.Just note that any such class requires a lot of memorization. There are a lot of terms, and names for things to remember. This book makes it more interesting my adding stories and relating the information to real life or job situations. It helps to put things into perspective. The images are not always clear, but, when used with the workbook designed for the course, everything comes clear.

I was not particularly pleased with the CD's that came with the book, but they do contain all the images from the book as an aid to studying. ... Read more

This book i must say is a pretty cool book, but just wasn't thee book for me. i just needed a quick reference book so i have returned this book & i now have Shirley Jones Pocket Anatomy and Physiology and it fits my needs.

2-0 out of 5 stars The kindle version of this book is terrible
This book is great, but the kindle version on mac/ipad of this book is terrible. There are spelling mistakes, sentences being repeated again and again (Box 15-5 for example). The worst thing is that, I want to enlarge a table on mac, eg table 22-1, table 22-2, it does't work! The way it is assumed to enlarge letters and tables, oppositely, made the tables smaller! I tried many ways, but I couldn't get a clear view of table 22-1 at all!
I was very pissed off. This book is purchased as a textbook! Less can I learn from kindle version than a real book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book to haul EVERYWHERE
I purchased this book for the following reasons:

1.I needed something to assist me in condensing, and simplifying the main points for each subject
2.I needed something to help me REFRESH what I read in the more intensive required text - Human Anatomy and Physiology (8th Ed. Marieb)
3.I wanted something small that I could fit in my purse and still keep reading wherever and whenever I got the chance

Of course with any Anatomy class the material can be so overwhelming and intensive that it was comforting for me to grab Anatomy and Physiology Cliffs Quick Review for the sole purpose ofreinforcing what I read in the required (Marieb) text. What I love about this book is that my midterm was on 7 chapters.I felt so overwhelmed that I didn't know where to start so I picked up this book and read the 7 chapters covered (which was about 50 pages in Cliff's review). What I had learned from the required text started coming back to me and I was able to feel more confident taking my midterm. I would suggest "A&P Cliff's Review" for its size and convenience and remembering key points.I also purchasedBarron's "Anatomy and Physiology (2nd Ed) The Easy Way" which is bigger, and a little more helpful in understanding more than just key points. This book (Barron's) really helped reinforce what you learn with helpful review questions after each chapter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Review
This book was a big help with review of material. If I did not understand a concept
I went to a book with pictures. Also, questions at end of chapter helped.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you need a refresher in A&P
This was a good buy it helped with Teas preadmission test. It came in three days and was new .

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes you learn ASAP!
This is an awesome study book.. I have never studied anatomy and Physiology and as soon as I started reading the first chapter I learned so much. The information is broken down so its easier to remember. I recommend it big time for those who are struggling in the subject or those who just want to be more prepared!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
This is not going to take the place of your text, but this book gets to the point. It's condensed and concise. If you sat through lectures, at least half awake, it is possible to get a decent grade on an exam using this study guide. Stuff happens, sometimes you don't study the way you intended and before you know it, it's crunch time.I did okay on my exam using Cliffs. Also, this book is good to cement what you've read in text. Often, anatomy books get a little wordy. You know, some anatomy/P textbooks are written to read "deliberately" complicated. Thisbook hits key points...bam... and on to the next. It covers each organ system, has good info on bone types, tissue types, joints.,etc..It has general O and I on major muscles and even has a little chemistry in the mix. It's very useful. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece of Scientific Literature
Well, I read the last edition of Guyton and it was fair to midland in quality however the 12th edition is another story. For physiology and molecular biology the illustration need to grip the idea and leave a lasting mark.If the prose can do the same you have a marvelous textbook. Well both ideas and practices have been fulfilled with this edition. The chapters on cell structure are brilliant as well as renal and cardiac anatomy and physiology. This text left me reading 100 pages a night until I was complete with the text. The hasn't happened to me since the last edition of the The Cell. The fundamentals of each of the bodyies organs are so well explained andillustrated that alot of new information came my way.I have to say this text is the best medical text I have read in the last three years. You will find it an amazing and time well spent read.Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excerpt from Dr. John E. Hall
I thought it might be helpful to people if I excerpted the following from Prof. John Hall's preface to the 12th edition because it deals with what revisions he made for the book:

"I worked closely with Dr. Guyton for almost 30 years and had the privilege of writing parts of the 9th and 10th editions. After Dr. Guyton's tragic death in an automobile accident in 2003, I assumed responsibility for completing the 11th edition.

For the 12th edition of the Textbook of Medical Physiology, I have the same goal as for previous editions - to explain, in language easily understood by students, how the different cells, tissues, and organs of the human body work together to maintain life.

[. . .]

A brief explanation is needed about several features of the 12th edition. Although many of the chapters have been revised to include new principles of physiology, the text length has been closely monitored to limit the book size so that it can be used effectively in physiology courses for medical students and health care professionals. Many of the figures have also been redrawn and are in full color. New references have been chosen primarily for their presentation of physiological principles, for the quality of their own references, and for their easy accessibility. The selected bibliography at the end of the chapters lists papers mainly from recently published scientific journals that can be freely accessed from the PubMed internet site at [...]. Use of these references, as well as cross-references from them, can give the student almost complete coverage of the entire field of physiology. The effort to be as concise as possible has, unfortunately, necessitated a more simplified and dogmatic presentation of many physiologic principles than I normally would have desired. However, the bibliography can be used to learn more about the controversies and unanswered questions that remain in understanding the complex functions of the human body in health and disease.

Another feature is that the print is set in two sizes. The material in large print constitutes the fundamental physiologic information that students will require in virtually all of their medical activities and studies.

The material in small print is of several different kinds: first, anatomic, chemical, and other information that is needed for immediate discussion but that most students will learn in more detail in other courses; second, physiologic information of special importance to certain fields of clinical medicine; and, third, information that will be of particular value to those students who may wish to study particular physiologic mechanisms more deeply." ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good practice for exams
The questions in this book are a great way to review the concepts and see whether or not you really "get" the material. There are explanations next to every answer so you can understand why it is correct.I wouldn't rely solely on this review book to get you through exams but it is a great supplement to class notes and a thorough textbook.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review Book
Good book for review questions if you are also using the text book by the same authors. My classes suggested that we get the book for good review questions.Unfortunately the professor used another text book for the class and this book quickly became useless. Not due to the quality of the book, rather the inappropriate suggestion to buy it.Will be good for the boards for a comprehensive review of the systems.I'd buy it again if I used the associated text book in the classrom.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not all that bad...but a little tough for a beginner.
If you're following Guyton and you really want to understand physiology, then I would recommend this book. The book is filled with great question that allow you to apply what you have read, an absolute must for learning.Whether I read the pocket guide or the full text of Guyton, I answered about the same number of questions correctly; which leads me to believe that the pocket book is enough reading to do before starting this book.It has excellent explanations for each questions right and wrong answers. It is by far the best physiology question book that I have come across; however, it does have down points to it.For example, I like to practice questions after every chapter that I read, and I was hoping this book would allow me to.Unfortunately, it does question in blocks. That means that you need to finish reading all of cardiology sections before you start the questions, which includes several chapters.Because the questions are comprehensive, you will have significantly difficulty trying to read only half a section and then attempting the questions.Additionally, while the vast majority of questions are excellent, there are still a good number of them that are extremely difficult. In fact, they are so difficult that you need to remember specific numbers from the text.I dare say that they are impossible for beginners to answer correctly because no one can be expected to recall such minute details. There is also the added fact that some of the questions lapse over into pathology.Without a comprehensive view of physiology and pathology, some of the questions are down right too hard!Don't be surprised if you end up with a 50% at the end of a block of questions. Both my friend and I ended question blocks with percents in the 50's or 60's, and others came out with even lower scores.Be prepared to work with this book because you're not going to be able to skate through it.Even with all of this, I still give this book an excellent rating.I have found no physiology question book that challenges the reader in such a magnificent way.Approaching my senior year of medical school I still find myself relying on information that I gleaned from this book.It will definitely bring your physiology from book smarts to a working knowledge.

5-0 out of 5 stars great review
Perfect addition to the Guyton and Hall text. Format is set up just like the sections of the textbook. A must have for graduate level physiology.

I've learned the hard was ordering this book for another company when it never came after 5 weeks.I then re-ordered it from Amazon and it was at my front door within 2 days in great condition.I will for now on order all my textbooks from Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars great text for a & p - it was required
this was a required text for my a & p class. the contents are clear and to the point (i find alot of text books are not lately). it's pretty easy to study from. it is heavy - be ready to break your back. it has an online guide also. you have to register the book to access it. read the material, go online for practice quizes and tests. the online material also has an animated teaching program - so if your a visual and audio learner it is very helpful!

5-0 out of 5 stars this book makes good doctors
I bought this book for my first year of med school, since here in Romania the actual textbook for the course is 20 years behind with the facts and has no good pictures whatsoever. I am now on my 2nd year and it is still my favourite, and not only for my physiology course (I also reffered to it for cell biology and even biophysics).

PROS:
- detailed explanation on molecular physiology, the book coveres almost every aspect of medical physiology (including sports and aging)
- many truly helpful drawings (and beautiful too)
- data is backed up by recent research (recent at the time of publication of course, which is very important to me)
- it is clinically oriented, which makes all the enzime interactions worth knowing
- when you're going to be a doctor there's no such thing as too much knowledge, not in physiology anyway

CONS:
- you cannot use it for reviewing before an exam unless you already went trough it a couple of times
- when you want to learn something fast this book will just piss you off with the mechanisms and fill your already tired mind with too many cellular stuff
- sometimes, after you finally finish reading a chapter you find yourself not mastering the basic stuff (it's normal to get a little confused at first, nooane said it would be easy, but that goes away after reviewing what you've read). And the satisfaction you get when it all makes sense makes it worthwhile in the end.

BOTTOMLINE: Many people over here complain about the complexity of the text. I agree, it does contain a lot of info but none of it is useless if you really want to understand HOW things happen at a molecular level. If you just wanna get good grades on your exams choose something easier. Personally, I love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent in Combination with Costanzo
My recommendation: Buy BOTH BORON and COSTANZO!
As many have said, this text is very dense with infromation. At times this is invaluable and at others it is a pain. However, it has worked wonders for me in conjunction with Costanzo's simple and condensed review of physiology (Physiology, 4th edition- Linda Costanzo). When I need to know the intricate workings of a system I can turn to Boron. If I am finding Boron confusing initially, I can use Costanzo to get the overall gist of the subject before delving into Boron to understand the details. And when it comes time to review for an exam, Costanzo is great at highlighting the big points.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, brilliant textbook
This is a beautiful textbook on physiology, and I'd highly recommend it! It dispels all the myths that were told to students in lower-level biology classes and provides fluidly-written explanations of fascinating physiological phenomena. Boron & Boulpaep is a must have for any (aspiring) medical student or physiology graduate student.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stay home and read
Not much cause for attending lecture with this text.Very comprehensive and beautifully illustrated, hardcover, this one might actually make it to the office bookshelf so many years away!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book that really gets at the "how" of "how your body works"!
Like many first-year medical students, I've done a lot of research into figuring out which books to buy for specific subjects. Most of the time, class notes can be simply supplemented with a well-written USMLE-style review book. However, some very broad and important subjects (such as physiology) need much more than that... you NEED a good grounding in physiology to succeed as a physician or other medical professional.

That being said, I had already purchased a couple physiology books: Costanzo (4th edition) for class and BRS Physiology (also written by Costanzo) to review for the boards next year. However, as the class lectures went on, I found myself realizing how much isn't covered in these books - and with good reason; many class details simply aren't "high yield" material. However, if you really want to learn more about the "how and why" to build a better foundation, you need to buy a comprehensive physiology textbook as a reference.

I narrowed it down to three books, all of which I think are very good for medical students and professionals: Berne and Levy, Guyton and Hall, and Boron and Boulpaep. I was able to borrow a friend's Guyton and Hall... and while I think it's an amazing feat that Guyton himself completely wrote the first few editions of the book, it was clear that some sections were more fluid than others (cardiovascular was very strong). In addition, it felt more like a dictation than a textbook: tons of details and snippets of information, but the text seemed more dry and figures weren't nearly as clear, plentiful, or colorful. I also took a short look at Berne and Levy: a great book with lots of details as well...

...but what really drew me specifically into Boron and Boulpaep were its crystal-clear figures and the way it explained "how things work". Simple example: blood pressure. This book best explained how sphygmomanometers (blood pressure cuffs) and other measurement techniques work, complementing the text with very good diagrams of each "blood-pressure taking phase". Several authors contribute to this book (unlike Guyton), though every chapter I've read so far is equally as clear. True, sometimes the authors go into "too much detail" (such as channels-related work), but it does really serve to reinforce certain principles. Because of this level of detail, however, I would say that this book might be more useful for an actual physiologist... and as a topic reference for medical students.

In conclusion, I think this book is a perfect complement to a "review" or "high-yield" book such as Costanzo. Boron and Boulpaep has BY FAR the best figures and diagrams of any book. I was an engineering student in undergrad, and I DOUBLY recommend this book if you are more of a physical science based learner. If you want a book that actually tells you how things work in a more "logical manner" and gives you some (not too complicated) equations to help you drive the point home, this is it. PERIOD! ... Read more

Book was used, although purchased as 'new' but was in really good shape.DVD was missing from the original book but I was very pleased with speed of delivery from the secondary buyer during peak text book purchasing period.

2-0 out of 5 stars okay book
Cons: This book is not that bad but it doesn't have a very good explaination for anyone who take intro class. I read this book and another book call Essential of Human Anatomy & Physiology by Elaine N. Marieb. The A&P by Elaine is much easier to understand...

Pros: This book is very organized picture & table (not text)

1-0 out of 5 stars Did not get the product
I brought the book but didn't get the book from the seller. I contact the seller, four times and got only one reply back from the seller. He told me "It should be on the way. I apologize for the sloppy service of UPS. I will contact them and in turn you", and it might have been a problem with the ups. The other three email, that I sent to the seller told him that I didn't recieved the book. I'm still didn't hear from the seller, so I contact Amazon. The customser service told me that they'll try to get my money back. I recomented everyone that do not buy your product from this sell Daniel Laurie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great timing!
I ordered my book on Friday morning and recieved it Saturday the next day! Great timing and still in the wrapping with a tutorial cd!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book
The book gives a clear, concise, and engaging account of the human body and its systems. It displays information to the reader in a number of different ways, oftentimes breaking down a difficult concept by explaining it in paragraph form, a table, and several drawings. I find this method to be a successful learning tool because different learning styles are accommodated and the reader also has several examples to learn from instead of only one. Also, the illustrations are gorgeous and very helpful. This is a great textbook for an intro-to-medium level college class in A&P, or an advanced text for non-doctors as the material is clearly presented but is also quite detailed. ... Read more

Hi Amazon,
I'm so greatful that I found you because the book cost 226 dollars and luckily i hear about you and started to search the book and found it here in Amazon for half the price that the book store was selling it for. Thank you very much. From now on Amazon is my favorite site to search for my books. Once again thank you very much.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hardcover... Not in the least!
I ordered: "Human Anatomy & Physiology, 8th Edition [Hardcover]" what I received was a unbound, three-hole punched version of the text. I DID NOT PAY $150+ dollars for this version of the text. I could have driven the hour away to the college to get this version. A complete disappointment. I will not buy from this seller again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Frustrated College Student ....
I ordered the Human A & P, 8th edition text book for class. Upon ordering it it said it was "in stock" so I placed the order along with the expedited shipping because I was in need of it quickly. After placing the order and paying for it I received the email shortly after confirming that everything was processed and it had been shipped WOW that was quick!!! Well WRONG a couple days later I received an email stating that they had made a mistake and infact the book was not in stock and a day later they refunded my money. So again I paid extra for expedited shipping and it took them days later to notify me of them canceling my order and their discrepancy. So I was forced to start at square one again and re-order else where. Only to review the order and look at their things for sale and notice that they had the book still up on their "products for sale" and it be "in stock" WTH ??!?!? Idk I am very disappointed and regret my transaction with them. I just am thankful getting my money back wasnt a hassle, thats about the ONLY good thing in all this.

1-0 out of 5 stars package never recieved, emails never answered.
Worst seller ever. I never recieved my package after 3weeks of waiting. I emailed him constantly & never recieved anything back. Stay away or your gonnna get screwed.

Product Description
Books in the popular Easy Way series present basic subject matter in clear language. Material is presented in a way that makes these books ideal as self-teaching guides, but Easy Way titles are also preferred by many teachers as supplements to classroom textbooks. General readers seeking out information often turn to Easy Way titles for general background and orientation when starting out in new career-related fields. All Easy Way books contain both short quizzes and longer tests with answers to help readers gauge their learning progress. Subject heads and key phrases are set in a second color for quick and easy reference. Here's a good supplementary text for pre-med and other science students. Topics covered include cells, bones and joints, the skeletal system, the nervous system, muscle physiology, the cardiovascular system, and much more. Explanatory chapters are supplemented with hundreds of practice-and-review questions and answers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful Reference
This was a wonderful reference to my Anatomy and Physiology course.I am a pre-nursing student, however I felt overwhelmed due to the fact that many people in my class had a health background and seemed to get A&P right off the bat!It turns out that there were still many like me that were not as knowledgable and still needed assistance (other than our required text Anatomy and Physiology, 8th Ed. Marieb).

The topics covered were very clear, perfect amount to refresh what you learned from the textbook and lectures of class. The material is straightforward, no useless material at all and the illustrations were detailed and helpful for a quick review. The end of each chapter had review questions, fill in the blank and multiple choice. This is what saved me from losing my cool when I took A&P.I took the same professor for A&P I and II, but for some reason he changed his teaching style and testing COMPLETELY during Anatomy II!It through the whole class off, most people were either receiving D's and C's.This was very stressful, but I felt that Barron's Anatomy and Physiology The Easy way helped to keep my nerves calm, adapt to my professor's new teaching, and still maintain my A.This is where the end of chapter review questions really helped to reinforce what I read.I really do appreciate the guarantee on the front cover, as it was one that kept me sane during this course!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Very Useful Tool
This book is the recommended book for a NYS license review class.I have been working with a group of my fellow students at New York College for Health Professions. We haven't started the class yet, but find the tests in the book to be an extremely helpful way to practice for eht state license exam for Massage Therapy. I highly recommend this book!!

This is a great supplement to your required Anatomy textbooks (which most likely reads like a dictionary.) Hence the word "supplement", doesn't replace your required text.

5-0 out of 5 stars So pleased with service......
I received my book in perfect condition and in an extremely prompt time.Love to order through Amazon.Keep up the great work!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Big Addition
This is the first book I've purchased in the Easy Way series, and so far I am very impressed. All you have to do is read through the first chapter and you can see how well laid out the book is. It's almost like it's laid out in cliff note form; a condensed version of a textbook. Relatively easy to understand, great layout, and great array of topics covered in good depth. It's hard to get bored because there are no fluff paragraphs; every one has somethin important in it.
I will definitely buy more books from this series. ... Read more
