Florence Barclay A brief biography of Florence Barclay (18621921) Florence Barclay. I think this is condensed from the following book. The Life of Florence Barclay A Study in Personality Florence L. Barclay was born on December 2, 1862 in http://www.writepage.com/others/barclay.htm
Extractions: Florence L. Barclay was born on December 2, 1862 in Surrey, England. She entered this world as Florence Louisa Charlesworth. She had one older sister Annie, and one younger, Maud. Her father was the Reverend Samuel Charlesworth, who presided over the Rectory at Limpsfield. Her mother affectionately called her "Benny" because her spunk and inquisitive nature reminded her more of a boy than a girl. She married at the age of 18 to the Reverend Charles W. Barclay, on March 10, 1881. They spent their honeymoon touring the Holy Land. On this honeymoon, she and her new husband are credited for finding the mouth of Jacob's Well, from which Christ is mentioned to have rested beside on a flat stone. This spot was covered with the ruins of a 4th century church. She and Charlie and four Arabs cleared away the debris of this church and found the well mouth. This find was documented in the London Times and Illustrated London News with a picture of the stone. An official account is given in the Memoirs of the Survey of Western Palestine and in statements of the Palestine Exploration Fund.
