Brooksburg Cemetery, Milton Twp. 1951; Myrtle, 18881964 Lewis, Henry, 1881-1936, Dellie, 1866-1936 Lewis, Irwin K.,1893 31, 1941 McKay, Eugene M., 1868-1939, Sallie M., 1873-1948 McKay, Fred H http://myindianahome.net/gen/jeff/records/cemetery/milbrook.html
Extractions: This cemetery is located on the Manville-Brooksburg road, just north of the main section of Brooksburg. This cemetery belongs to the Brooksburg Methodist Church, which was founded in 1891. It was probably a Bondurant family cemetery originally because there were 15 marked graves of Bondurants, all preceding the churchs founding. There are no other burials for other families before the churchs founding. The DAR shows Josephine Keel as dying in 1871, but I have not found this stone and the date may be an error. The same applies to Anna Gale, also listed by the DAR as dying in 1871. Before 1891, many Brooksburg area residents were buried at the Joyce Cemetery, just over two miles up-stream on the Indian Kentuck, or in the cemetery of the Morris Chapel M.E. Church, just upstream near the Ohio River. This transcription includes all transcriptions done by the John Paul Chapter DAR. The most recent death date in the DAR record is 1931. I have combined the many military inscriptions, which often were on separate stones, with the tombstone of the respective soldier. Any corrections are welcome as I had rain which caused difficult in reading some notes later. Completed September 15, 2002

The Records have been received in installments beginning in 1948 until the present date. The Records are available in the reading room of the American Jewish Archives. INSTITUTIONAL SKETCH top Founded in 1875, by Isaac Mayer Wise under the auspices of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, the Hebrew Union College was established to train rabbis in both religious and secular education. It is the oldest and most prestigious seminary and college of its kind in America. Besides Isaac Mayer Wise its past presidents include such notables as Kaufmann Kohler and Julian Morgenstern; its professors and graduates also share equal acclaim. The college is noted for its progressive philosophy concerning Reform Judaism in its practice and administration. In fact, the history of the college is synonymous with the history of the Reform Jewish movement in America, for the Reform movement has received definition through the Hebrew Union College and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. With the Nelson Glueck administration (1947-1970), the Hebrew Union College merged with the Jewish Institute of Religion in New York (1950). At the present date, the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion has reached a national and international scope with individual campuses in Cincinnati, New York City, Los Angeles, and Jerusalem, Israel.*
