5-0 out of 5 stars An embarassment for us men!
Yes, the author is my brother. But this is a fascinating book anyway.Essentially, this is a harmony of the gospels (from the Revised Standard Version) with a series of questions placed by the author in strategic places. In the gospels, main characters like Peter and John have their stories repeated three or four times, while many of the women or apostles (such as Andrew) are mentioned only once or twice. But in a harmony, the repetitions are fused together, and the women and "lesser" players become far more visible. What becomes even more apparent is that in almost every failure the men made, the women did better. The men doubted the resurrection and the women were the first to proclaim it.Only one man followed Jesus to the cross, but a number of women did.The examples are far too many to ignore once they are brought to light, and every Christian would benefit from this book -- especially Christians from a conservative background. The author does not give opinion.Instead, he gives you the text and asks the reader the right questions. The conclusions are inescapable, because readers are forced to make the conclusions for themselves. It is very sad that it took nearly two thousand years for someone to present something so simple, and so obvious, now that Jerry Clontz has pointed it out. ... This book is based on an ancient manuscript known as MS Pepys 2498 of
which one copy is known to exist and is kept at Cambridge University Library
in England. The original source of MS Pepys 2498 (referred to as the Pepys
Gospel or the Pepys Gospel Harmony) is unknown but some scholars have
theorized that it may be as old as Christianity itself.

New Testament created especially for Bible studies. Whether you're leading or just participating in a Bible study - when someone says, "My Bible doesn't say that" you'll be able to help everyone in the group understand the different texts. At the bottom of each page is a parallel textual apparatus that presents the textual choices of 20 Bible versions for each verse of the New Testament. Readability is measured using the Coleman-Liau scoring system in Readability Studio version 1.2.0.0, Copyright © 2007. Accuracy and formal equivalence are measured by comparing each verse from the different versions to the Nestle-Aland 27th edition Greek New Testament.

Cross references are arranged by topic, passage, and verse. Highly significant parallels are quoted in special highlight boxes throughout the cross reference index. The cross reference index includes over 40,000 references for:

5-0 out of 5 stars More accurate than the NAS, more readable than the NIV
I know it sounds like an advertisement, but I'm not kidding. The Comprehensive New Testament contains about 15,000 textual references mapping source texts with 20 target translations -- having more footnotes for all 20 translations than those translations have about themselves. If you've ever wondered why someone's translation read differently, now you'll know. But the notes are tied to the verse numbers, so there is no clutter in the text at all. The text itself is at a sixth grade reading level, and yet just as elegant and accurate as either the RSV or the NAS. If you already have a favorite translation, you'll find out more about your own translation than you've ever been able to before. The second half of the book gives cross references to practically everything from the ancient world: Philo, Josephus, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Greek literature (Paul quotes two different halves of the same Greek literary verse on Mars Hill and in the Letter to Titus -- something you would need multiple commentaries to know otherwise). I cannot imagine a Bible Study group or a church being the same again after this book, because it will answer all those questions of "but my Bible is different here." I can see the leader saying, "Well, George, your NIV is following a Byzantine reading here and Mary's RSV is following an Alexandrian reading." Five Stars -- an enthusiastic Five Stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy for my daughter to understand
My daughter is 9 and has found this translation easier to understand than NLT or NIV. I recommend this to anyone raising children as it is a great tool to help parents with the challenges of raising a man or woman of faith. It has certainly blessed my family.
