Underwater vistas, jungle scenes, fairy gardens, entire miniature rooms--it's hard to believe what wonders Mitzi Perdue manages to create inside eggshells. And her talents aren't confined to the eggs' interiors, either; she also transforms them into Faberge-like jewel cases, tiny clocks, Cinderella's coach, even hinged six-panel foldout scenery. The slim volume's huge format means that even the smallest details are visible in the stunning photos. Most of the rambling text consists of Ms. Perdue's descriptions of how she got started in the first place, what inspired each egg, and some bubbly encouragement that anyone can do it. A brief how-to section explains how to make two relatively simple designs, and a good resource list reveals where to get supplies and what books to consult for more in-depth instruction. --Amy Handy Book Description

5-0 out of 5 stars I own four of these eggs and the book does them justice!
As a proud owner of four Eggscapes, I bought the book to complement my collection. I was a little skeptical, thinking that there's no way the book could properly capture the incredible worlds that Mitzi Perdue creates inside these eggs, but she's done it again... The book is a masterpiece and the photography is unbelievable. It makes for a great read, a beautiful coffee table book, and on top of that, it explains how to make these pieces of art. After reading the book, I think I could actually make one of them. Two thumbs up.

BTW, if you're wondering how I got hold of four Eggscapes, I bought one at an auction, won one in a charity raffle, and was given the other two as gifts by someone who knows how much I love them. If you like the book, just wait until you see one of these eggs in person. Wow!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Done!
This book is a must have for anyone who is interested in this art!

The graphics, photographs and design are breathtaking. What a joy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful...and informative!
This is a very unusual book...it is both gorgeous to look at and loaded with information. It is all about making "eggscapes"...miniature scenes inside of large rhea and ostrich eggs. The photography is superb, and the size of the book (11" wide by 16" tall) means the photos are so large, you feel like you can walk right inside of the eggs and wander around!

I never considered doing this type of craft before I saw this book, but after reading it I realized that I would probably enjoy it tremendously. Mitzi Perdue makes the instructions extremely easy to follow, and she speaks in a language that is just my speed. (It actually feels like she's sitting right next to me, talking me through the process!)

This book is so pretty to look at it would make a great gift for someone who appreciates fine craftwork. It is also great as a "Learn How" book. You can't miss! ... Read more
