Priceless Insights and Information
As the author himself stated, no one can tell the Pilgrim story as well as the actors themselves... and that's what Willison did so very well. So, who cares that it's not jazzed up 90's writing or Fictional Literature. Such lazy readership misses the whole point. As a reader years ago, the book I bought at a sale took me back to the time and place in my own imagination. It was a keeper for my library. It would be years later before I discovered my own Mayflower ancestors. Then Willison's work really brought home the 'personhood' of otherwise mere names on a family tree and introduced me to the background and character of a number of my ancestors. Priceless information I could not have found elsewhere. Thank you George Willison for what must have been a true labor of love.

An excellent history of the original Pilgrims.
As a direct decendent of one of the original Pilgrims, I found a great deal of information in this book that was unavailable elsewhere.While the writing style may not rival Hemmingway, the book is full of historicalfacts, which is what I was looking for.Many historical events which wereimportant to my research were covered in great detail.Books such as thisdescribing the early days of the Pilgrims are few and far between, and Iwas very happy to find this one.

Invaluable to me and my descendants
I have ancestors in this group of Mayflower passengers.What a gift this author had compiled in historical ,religious, and family information.

Of interest to those with ancestors among the Pilgrims
While probably not the best written history of the lives of the pilgrims, it is a chronolgy of their lives and as such is of interest to those whose ancestors were among the Pilgrims.My children had a large number ofdirect ancestors in Plymouth Colony, and this book presents a veryreadable, if not too well written, story of the lives of those ancestors. As a result I have acquired three hard bound copies, and would like toacquire more in paperback.

Dry, crunchy, stale
During the course of the reading of this book, I found that no amount of knowledge is worth the effort of trudging through such monotonous, grey-scaled descriptions of occurences.Unfortunately, that is all theretruly is to describe, as it functions merely as a chronology, never delvesinto the background of any event.Sentence structure is rote andrepetative.Opportunities to delve into the more interesting aspects areconsistently ignored, and the reader is left wondering whether anything atall truly had a cause. In short, a stereotypical bad history book thatavoids all semblance of attention-holding structure.If you are planningto actually spend money on this book, do not.It's not worth the fiftycents I paid at the library to get a card to borrow it. ...
