Book Description

Rule #9: I will heed the warnings of my inner voice

Dr. Lenita Mae Faulkner has come a long way from her dirt-poor beginnings in Madoosa County. All she's missing is a family. And with her nine-year live-in lover Ralph seemingly about to pop the question, it looks like she's about to get her wish -- a good thing, too, since Lenny's biological clock is ticking rapidly toward thirty-five.

Rule #7: I will never again go fetch the beer

But instead of proposing, Ralph skips out, empties their joint bank account, and runs off with another woman. And on top of that, a true family catastrophe is calling her back to tiny Madoosa -- the last place Lenny wants to be. Home again at the lowest point of her once-charmed life, Lenny is blasted by a forgotten piece of her past: a diary she kept in the fifth grade containing a list of rules she had created to live by. And in their simple, fervent honesty is the impetus for her to get out and start living again.

Rule #3: I will follow my dreams

Look out world, because Lenita Mae is coming on strong once more -- and this time, it will be according to her own rules! It won't always be pretty, and it won't be perfect . . . but it may just help her discover what real love is all about!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's never to late to find PEACE!
I actually liked this book! It had it's slow moments but all in all it was a good read.

Dr. Lenita Mae Faulkner made a set of rules when she was in the fifth grade only to forget them. After learning the love of her life took her money and the dreams she had for them, had to return home for one of the most tragic events of her life. While home she comes across her journal that had the list of rules she made and decided that it was time she lived by the ones that still applied and make new ones for the woman that she has become. A few love affairs, letting go of the hurt that was caused by her love, and a new friend later, Lenita, is now getting everything she need and more out of her life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love overcomes all obstacles!
This book chronicles the main character, Lenny' s life as she made her way through what many would consider a "rough" up bringing to become a doctor. She clearly rose above a lot. As a adolescent she creates these clear, concise rules that she would live by, however she never really follows them. It is indicative of women sometimes to compromise their own values, beliefs and even themselves when the possibility of love and a man is at stake. They author really does a great job of showing the readers what that looks like through the main character, Lenny. Lenny triumphs over all of the obstacles. This is one that I could not put down.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
i could relate to the main character in many ways. i hadn't been reading novels lately but this was a good one that was real with real people and real problems.i recommend it for any woman over 30 trying to figure out her way in the world of romance, career and motherhood.

5-0 out of 5 stars LISTEN MEN DONT SLEEP
I am someone who is a total idiot when it comes to women and
there problems. Reading Rules of a Pretty Woman gave me a understading of how strong women really are. A lot of men like me would stongly agree. Suzette Francis is very encouraging to a lot of young women like her in the genre. At lease my girl say so.When I in the beginning of Rule of a Pretty Women, I didn't think I would like it that much.I was very shocked as I got to in the middle of the story. The novel had over the top methaphor and several rule the main character used in her life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book
When I purchased this novel, I had already decided that the book would be based on a series of rules that the author had created. To my surprise and pleasure this novel was cleverly written and the rules followed the storyline, not the other way around.
Great book written by a Howard Alumnus. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty maids all in a row...
I stumbled upon this book as a teenager back in the 70's.Let's just say that I've never forgotten what the man did with his arm...I bought a used beat-up copy on Amazon and read the book (this time) from cover to cover. It's actually quite well written.Yes, it's pretty graphic, but entertaining none-the-less.Good luck in trying to find a cheap copy!Five stars for Mr. Pollini!

3-0 out of 5 stars Rock Hudson and Angie Dickinson ruined a good book
The movie was awful, but the book was hilarious....The coach works his way thru the cheerleaders one at a time, first nailing them, then killing them when they want him to leave his wife and marry them. The story is told thru the eyes of a student, and the phrase he uses to describe his discovery of a dead cheerleader in a bathroom stall, " there she was, that tight, white, cheerleader p____y" has stayed with me since I first read the book, nearly 40 years ago.Wish I could find a copy for less than $25.Must be a rare book now. ...
