5-0 out of 5 stars Best entry level book
This book by Charlie Janeway is considered to be one of the best books for entry level students. His colleagues say Dr. Janeway cherished every moment that he spent in shaping this book since he took utmost joy in teaching and training students. Eventhough he is no more physically, his book will be read and remembered by almost every student in Immunology. The treatment of subject, arrangement of topics and the figures in this book are at the very best. I am sure that readers will be able to absorb the basic principles in a systematic way with sound experimental insights which will be with them forever.
You also have the advantage of seeing the immune system as a friend as well as a foe. This book beautifully explains how immune system protects us from infections as well as creates major health problems when it doesn't work properly. This way of learning Immunology helps you learn the subject with big picture in mind. I strongly recommend this book for every student who takes introductory or intermediate level course in Immunology. After all, Immunology is one of the most fascinating scientific disciplines to work on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate, clear and comprehensive immunological knowledge
Janeway's Immunobiology is probably the best immunology book that someone really interested in immunology should take to the mythical desert island. One can enjoy it by its clarity from the basic graduate courses, and then keep reading it when doing research and pursuing hypothesis on the most advanced immunological topics. Many times I have found better organized and complete information on this book (even the old editions!) than on the latest reviews on specialized journals. The intense and careful work displayed to promote the real understanding on the concepts and the relations between immune components is impressive. Even more, the success in explanation is such that the authour takes the risk to have his book neglected as "too easy" by first time readers. However, immunology researchers in contact with the often chaotic and contradictory immunological literature can really appreciate the incredible amount of critical work invested and the intellectual gift of the author (authors) to abstract complex immune phenomena into nicely designed and biologically precise "cartoons". The focus on the evolutionary and functional consequences/origins of the immune mechanisms and structures makes Janeway's book one of the most refreshing and valuable voices in a sometimes too-technically oriented discipline. An impressive accomplishment never praised enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Learning Aid, Must Buy
This book made medical microbiology a lot easier. It is concise and written to teach. It is helpful because it explains conditions in every day language. My study group and I used this book and the following which is also available on amazon.com:
Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi (ISBN: 0971999635)
The second book helped me prepare for the type of questions on my medical microbiology exams. I also used both these books as helpful references for the microbiology portion of the USLME 1. It just goes to show, everyone in my study group not only got high grades in our medical microbiology class, but also we all passed the USLME Step 1 the first time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must-buy for any medical student
This is not only the best microbiology book I have ever used, it may well be the best textbook of any kind. It contains everything you need to know about microbiology presented in a way that actually helps you learn and remember it. Perfect for board review or learning the subject for the first time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unorthdox, but it can be effective
When I received this book, I was not sure what to make of it. Rather than seriously examining key points of organisms with illustrations to show how mechanisms worked, the book is packed with mnemonics and weired cartoons meant to help you remember what you need to know for the boards (for instance, Chlamydia has a "clam" necklace; Salmonella is shown as a salmon hanging out and smoking a cigar in a gallbladder to remind you that's where chronic Salmonella carriers retain the bug).

I grew to appreciate these stupid cartoons, as I did remember stuff I would have otherwise forgotten. If you are burning out, this is a good resource!

This is not a real textbook, however. You get a guerilla introduction to some basics, but the presentation of material is not as systematic as a text. At the end of each chapter is a chart to summarize the information presented, but the font is tiny and I never bothered using it.

I would recommend checking this book out to see if the book's style works for you. If it does, this is a good way to study microbiology even if you are tired and sick of studying for Step I. If it does not, there are plenty of more standard texts and reviews to choose. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful little book!
I got this on a lark because (1) I adore plants and (2) as a linguistics major, I adore words. This book turned out to be a tasty treat on both counts.

The author promises word origins & faithfully provides with every entry, along with a sketch rendering of the plant. But --though it pains me to admit it-- not EVERY plant is blessed with a thrill-packed tale of linguistic derivation, so Ms. Wells wisely digresses, peppering her descriptions with attributed stories of interesting events and rumors associated with each plant. The overall effect is a gossipy piece with enough hard information to keep most armchair "researchers" happy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A rose is not just a rose!
If you are interested in the origins of names, you will thrive on the information in this book. The pages are illustrated by Ippy Patterson and the cover itself it just beautiful. If you love flowers, you will enjoy learning about abelias, zinnias, roses, etc. The fascinating stories behind the flowers names will intrigue you. You will learn about the origins, hybridizations, and migrations of your favorite floral beauties. This is a horticulture history and a journey into myths and folklore. If you love gardening, this will open your eyes to the history behind all the plants in your garden. Now you will not only know the names, the flowers will now each have a story to tell. Some helpful gardening advice is also included. You will also learn why Empress Josephine carried a rose, which flower Thomas Jefferson was afraid to plant at Monticello and what the connection is between Queen Victoria, the Amazons and water lilies. This delightfully illustrated hardcover book presents 100 well-known garden favorites. I hope that they will keep expanding this book to include even more stories of all our favorite flowers.

5-0 out of 5 stars First quick but comprehensive study of flower naming
Gives the origins, migration, hybridization and folklore with fascinating obscure stories that some of us have not read before. Explanations of how folklore began and how some of these flowers were discovered and migrated to where they are now in the world. Interesting observations of reasons why flowers were carried to, named and accepted in various countries. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Volatility trading system is good
I give credit to these guys for providing the complete system rules for entries and exits along with some position sizing algorithms. There are many, many books on patterns, and few of them ever give performance statistics. At least with this code you can import it into TradeStation and be up and running in a matter of minutes. That said, some of the systems are good and some are not so good. I suspect that the pairs trading system might have worked when there was intraday volatility but the market has changed since then. The linear regression system (V) is good and should be applied to momo stocks. It has been phenomenal in this market, don't think I'd use it in a bear market. There is another system in the book that is even better but I'm not gonna say here. It's my bread-and-butter, so there ;-).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for system traders
If nothing else, get this book for its rich code base. I downloaded the code from the TradeStationWorld site to save myself the typing. Yes, you do need to subscribe to TradeStation to use the code (the code is written in a Basic-like language for trading called EasyLanguage).

I have been a subscriber to TradeStation for a long time. The authors are generous contributors of articles and free code to the TradeStation community and are well-respected. I would check out their article that uses combinations of sentiment indicators, taken from Chapter 8 in the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable reading
It's an enjoyable book. Discretionary trading strategies are incorporated into a mechanical frame by means of a Tradestation platform. Most of the systems incorporate well-known price pattern concepts, with the exception of the float analysis system. The novice trader will obtain some good ideas on how to develop a trading system, with the exception on the issues regarding testing and optimization.

Most of the systems incorporate the concept of price contraction/expansion and trading performance is mainly dependent on price volatility. These types of systems are a natural consequence of the bubble trading environment where prices surpassed normal levels of historical volatility by leaps and bounds. The trading environment is quite different now, as the recent rise in the markets is marked by low price volatility. This environment tends to favor trend following systems, something that the book does not present.

Stock selection and stop placement is a bit confusing. First, the position modelling incorporates an ATR factor of 1. The entry/exit default models call for a 0.3ATR trigger above and below the high/low. From the get go, the max. loss potential is 2*0.3+body of the bar, which in most cases will be greater than 1ATR. The exception to the case will be in the narrow range models, where the body of the previous bar may be small enough to limit stop loss at 1ATR. The other dubious issue is stock scanning and selection. It is not clear whether the authors trade the system on a stock for an extended period of time, or whether they scan the markets for stocks that meet the filtering criteria and perform a quick test to determine performance. If the latter, then the trading system works as an automated discretionary system rather than "mechanical" on its true meaning. The latter approach does not take advantage of the statistical edge of a system when only traded a few times in a certain stock, and becomes a random event.

The filtering seems somewhat very restrictive and the ATR trigger rather than the high or low of the bar is not convincing. I have developed and traded narrow range systems where the high/low of the bar works as a better triggering mechanisms. This is because of the nature of the stocks that the authors tend to favor in their selection. The filtering on the narrow range system is restrictive, and when traded on a single stock for a considerable period of time on a daily timeframe, the user might be disappointed.

But overall, the book is an excellent addition to your trading library. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent introductory approach to Biogeography
This book written by some of the best authors known in the field comprises a quite extensive overall view of biogeography, its fundaments, beginnings, divisions, schools and relatively new applications and inner relations with other sciences. It contains also a copy of the original zoogeographic regions map created by Wallace. This book resembles the whole biogeography curse taught in the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, UNAM. which is quite exceptional and has the best scientists-profesors in Latin America. If you are looking for a "has it all" biogeography book this one is a must have for undergraduates and graduates students interested in comparative biology, systematics and distributions of taxa within time and space. The review has only four stars for strictly brand new additions of up to date biogeographical information are not included in this edition, yet, but for a three year old book it is a minor problem. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Personal and Business Success Tips
It was a pleasure to read this book even though some chapters reminded me of similar inspirational stories in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and motivational books by other authors.

Authors Canfield, Hansen, and Hewitt suggest doing what you do best, getting rid of "toxic" relationships, and living a balanced life. I particularly liked the suggestion of creating "a picture book of your most important goals," because the mind thinks in pictures rather than words.

The authors sincerely believe in their strategies for business and personal success and it is difficult not to get caught up in their enthusiasm.

4-0 out of 5 stars The roadmap to success.
I say that this book is a "Roadmap" to success because the terrain itself is quite familiar. It's all been said before: set goals, replace bad habits with good habits, build a mastermind group, etc. However, unlike other books of this genre, the authors of "The Power of Focus" have charted a course for the reader to follow. Instead of just telling you "what", they also tell you "how." It doesn't get any simpler than this--I'm still waiting for a book that only requires that you read it and then suddenly money just starts appearing out of nowhere.

At the end of each chapter, the authors have provided action steps for the reader to take. I personally really needed just this kind of systematic, organized approach to mastering many of these principles--I'm an amazingly creative procrastinator. The book, therefore, is kind of like a personal coach, available at any time. If you truly apply all of the principles--and it will be easier for you to do so if you actually follow the action steps at the end of each chapter--then you will likely succeed in your endeavors.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Control The Focus of Our Lives
Frankly, I loved this book!

It is practical, easy to read, and it suits my philosophy that success is based on BALANCE, not on how much money, power or fame we accumulate. I have been a fan of Canfield and Hansen for many years, and I think I have read every book they've written, so you can accuse me of bias if you wish, but these guys are good! They know some stuff about making life work out well, and I appreciate that!

I don't recall seeing this phrase in the book, but the theme
is that success is actually quite easy. Success is the logical and predictable result of doing the right things, in the right way, at the right time, and that is curiously EASY if we are focused and paying attention. What is hard is living a chaotic, confused and distracted life while we "hope" for success to jump up and bite us. It just doesn't work that way!

This is one you should OWN! Buy and read it. Put it on your shelf or the corner of your desk, and in six months read it again! Give it to your spouse or kids and ask them to read it, then talk about it! The power of this book is that it's so "obvious" - but only if we remember to DO the little things that make the difference. Don't borrow it from the library. Buy it. Read it. Keep it handy and plan to read itagain and again over the years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love the new Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul!
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Tough Stuff was a book I feel all teenagers and for that matter adults should read. It really touched me. At times I cried, and at times I laughed. This book really touched home. It reminded me that no matter how bad my day was, there is someone that has gone through the same thing and maybe worse things that same day. I have all the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul books and this is my favorite.

I hope others can recieve that same joy I recieved from it. This book like the others will serve as a devotional for me. Each story has some meaning or lesson that will touch home.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Way We Think ... & Talk
Lakoff & Johnson demonstrate that metaphor is a basic function of human thought, and therefore of language, rather than something added to speech or literature to make it more beautiful, powerful, or poetic. Using the basic (or "conceptual metaphor"--their term) that 'argument is war', they demonstrate how our cultural assumption that war helps us understand arguments actually shapes our arguments--we argue (and discuss our arguments) as though we were fighting a war (e.g., "I shot down his main point", "She outflanked his argument", "We defeated their ...").

The point of "conceptual metaphor" is that unstated [implicit] basic, fundamental, or large-scale metaphors (such as 'argument is war') *make it possible* for us to describe argument in terms of armed conflict.

They then show that most of our speech (and therefore thought) is metaphorical, giving many examples of conceptual metaphors and how they show up, or are realize"d" (my term) in actual speech.

This book has set the tone for the discussion of metaphor since its publication, and continues to be cited widely in the literature of metaphor. It is therefore vital for any discussion of the modern view(s) of metaphor, and most highly recommended for anyone interested in communication, language, the mind, and, of course, metaphor.

On the other hand, I have found George Lakoff & Mark Turner's work (_More than Cool Reason: A Field Guide to Literary Metaphor; ISBN 0226468127) even more helpful, since they discuss how metaphors show up in, and what they mean, in literature, beginning with an extensive (56pp) discussion of literary metaphors for death (and time). This is a scintillating & stimulating book, that, IMHO, will capture the imagination of most readers of literature far more effectively than _Metaphors We Live By_.

4-0 out of 5 stars Second-gen cognitive science turns to look at antecedents
*Metaphors We Live By* is a broader discussion of the living metaphors we use to think, created from our early experience as well as cultural use. Granted that Lakoff & Johnson's *Philosophy In The Flesh* is a more complete analysis of how second-generation cognitive science has confounded the philosophies that preceded it, including philosophic ideas that founded first-generation cognitive science, this book is less science-oriented and less contentious. Western philosophy has had no serious challenge from science until this generation, when experimental results demonstrated that the rational mind is not detachable from the brain that generates it. (There goes millenia of separating the mind and body.) *Metaphors We Live By* necessarily contends with older schemes of human nature, but if this is not a matter of controversy for the reader, it can be skipped. There are plenty of people who will sputter "but!" at the premise of the book, that >95% of our thinking is unconscious, shaped by empirically-based metaphors, and that most of philosophy is based on demonstrabily incorrect metaphors. Useful, not their last word on the subject, and you might find the Field Guide more useful yet if your interest is only in living metaphors and how to spot them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent thesis, clear presentation
This book will change the way you look at language. Often, when we think we are being literal and direct, we are using metaphors. And we don't even know it. After reading this book you will catch yourself in metaphorical folly. 3-0 out of 5 stars surface but instructive
I had great hopes for this book. After I glanced at it, I purchased it immediately. It certainly does reorient you to the distinctions between goals, objectives and diagnoses, but after using it for a while, it just wasn't sufficient for those more complicated kids. I'll keep referring to it, not so much for information but to place me back on course when I'm stuck and blocked- (happens more than I'd like, when the stress gets to me,) yet I still would suggest, for more seasoned professionals, a higher level of diagnostic and prescriptive content.
If you are one of those good therapists who flounder when it comes to documentation; I'd say, "Go for it." But, if you're looking for a book to help with establishing a quality diagnosis and treatment plan for those true stumpers- sorry, this isn't the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great aid for clinicains.
If you work with adolescent this is a great aid to writing treatment plans for a beginner or a skilled clinician. It makes following this state regulations a lot easier. I would definitely recommend this book to all my colleagues. This book has helped me write treatment plans quicker and easier then I ever thought possible. I love this series of books.

5-0 out of 5 stars A godsend for the busy clinician
I work in a mental health agency as an intake clinician, interviewing families and children and writing assessments to be used for case disposition and treatment planning. I see 4-6 families weekly and my work load has been eased enormously with this addition to my library. It sits right next to my DSM-IV and I use it daily. The language for long term goals and therapeutic interventions are clinically sound and there are a number of options in each to tailor for specific cases. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Had The Blair Witch Project been a book instead of afilm, and had it been written by, say, Nabokov at his most playful, revised byStephen King at his most cerebral, and typeset by the futurist editors of Blast at their most avant-garde, the result might have been somethinglike House of Leaves. Mark Z. Danielewski's first novel has a lotgoing on: notably the discovery of a pseudoacademic monograph called The Navidson Record, written by a blind man named Zampanò, about a nonexistent documentary film--which itself is about a photojournalistwho finds a house that has supernatural, surreal qualities. (The inner dimensions, for example, are measurably larger than the outer ones.) In addition to this Russian-doll layering of narrators, Danielewski packsin poems, scientific lists, collages, Polaroids, appendices of fake correspondence and "various quotes," single lines of prose placed anywhich way on the page, crossed-out passages, and so on.

Now that we've reached the post-postmodern era, presumably there'snobody left who needs liberating from the strictures of conventional fiction. So apart from its narrative high jinks, what does House of Leaveshave to offer? According to Johnny Truant, the tattoo-shop apprentice who discovers Zampanò's work, once you read The Navidson Record,

For some reason, you will no longer be the person youbelieved you once were. You'll detect slow and subtle shifts going on all around you, more importantly shifts in you. Worse, you'll realize it'salways been shifting, like a shimmer of sorts, a vast shimmer, only dark likea room. But you won't understand why or how.
We'll have to take his word for it, however. As it's presented here, the description of the spooky film isn't continuous enough to have muchscare power. Instead, we're pulled back into Johnny Truant's world throughhis footnotes, which he uses to discharge everything in his head, includingthe discovery of the manuscript, his encounters with people who knewZampanò, and his own battles with drugs, sex, ennui, and a vague evilforce. If The Navidson Record is a mad professor lecturing on thesupernatural with rational-seeming conviction, Truant's footnotes are the manicstudent in the back of the auditorium, wigged out and furiously scribbling whoa-dude notes about life.

Despite his flaws, Truant is an appealingly earnest amateur editor--finding translators, tracking down sources, pointing out incongruities.Danielewski takes an academic's--or ex-academic's--glee in footnotes (thesimilarity to David Foster Wallace is almost too obvious to mention), as well asother bogus ivory-tower trappings such as interviews with celebrity scholarslike Camille Paglia and Harold Bloom. And he stuffs highbrow and pop-culture references (and parodies) into the novel with the enthusiasm of an anarchist filling a pipe bomb with bits of junk metal. House of Leavesmay not be theprettiest or most coherent collection, but if you're trying to blow stuff up,who cares? --John Ponyicsanyi ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Strange and unusual
House of Leaves is not light reading. That's one fact you should be aware of before you pick it up. It's not even heavy reading; it's in a class of it's own. The story as best it can be described, is a mix of two stories at once that somehow connect to each other. The first is of Johnny Truant and Zampano, the second of The Navidson family and their experience in the house they live which ultimately becomes a series of home tapings of the events later called The Navidson Record.

The book is filled with hundreds of footnotes, strange sentence structure, omissions, two appendixes, a set of letters from Johnny Truant's mother to him during her stay in a mental institution called The Three Attic Whalestoe Letters (now a seperate book in their own right), collages, photos, poems and other odd bits and pieces; an editors worst nightmare.

But don't let that detour you; if your willing to sit down and read something to challenge your mind, and maybe even scare you (in the sense of chilling suspense rather than horror), then this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Into the depths
An astute reader can come to gauge a writer through what he produces. And if this is so for "House of Leaves, then Mark Danielewski is a swirling mixture of the mad and the magnificent. This book is unlike any other that I have ever read -- hard and surreal, strange and magnificent.

Will Navidson moves into a house with a secret, a door that leads into a bizarre tangle of stairways and passages. After his experiences are put down in the Navidson Record, a blind man named Zampanò makes further studies of the house -- and then the tattoo artist Johnny Truant, after Zampanò's death. As the reader goes deeper into the house (the word "house" isusually printed in blue), reality and perception start to warp...

Trying to explain "House of Leaves" is like trying to explain "Mulholland Drive" in one sentence. Summarizing is hard enough; summarizing it briefly is virtually impossible. But if the actual story of "House of Leaves" is fantastic, then the way it's written is even better. It's sprinkled with anecdotes, letters (often with crossed-out lines), footnotes, lists, appendices, and pseudo-interview snippets from people like Anne Rice, Camille Paglia, David Copperfield, Stephen King, and Stanley Kubrick. There are pages that are entirely blotted out, or have only a single word, or are printed upside-down, sideways, tilted, running into a mess of letters, or in a spiral. There is poetry, pictures of tattered pages, musical notes, collages and paintings.

Danielewski's style is amazing. It's in flux -- some parts of it, in keeping with who wrote it, are dry and flat (Zampanò), and some are more casual (Truant). But as the book grows darker and more surreal, it doesn't alienate -- instead, it draws you in and warps how you see the world for just a little while, as if the book is reaching out of its pages to grab the reader's brain. Almost like the house, one might say.

The kind of terror and horror in "House of Leaves" are not the kind you read in hack horror books, where something transforms or a nasty thing leaps out of the shadows and eviscerates screaming extras. It's a creeping, subtle thing, like oil dripping over the surface of a pond. It's like a hallucination, surreal and continually shifting, where the laws of physics don't apply.

This genre-busting post-modernist book is like taking a rollercoaster through a Dali-designed funhouse. Alone in its genre, it's a work of art. It will scare you, twist you, and linger in your mind without cheap tricks or flashy devices. Astounding.

4-0 out of 5 stars A challenge
This may be the most complicated book I've ever read. There are layers upon layers and you can never be sure what's real and what isn't.

I won't say it's the best book I've ever read, but it's certainly the most ambitious and creative. The way the typography was used alone is unlike anything I've ever seen. It could have been simply a gimmick, but it really reflects the story as well.

A quick hint to people who like to read while doing something else--this is NOT the book for it. I took it with me to the gym and tried to read it while riding an exercise bike. Not a pretty sight. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on finance/investing that I've ever read - by far!
This book is fantastic. It is brilliantly written and lets you get right inside Icahn's head as he stalks each prey! You can almost feel the squirming of the CEO's he tortures. The descriptions of his strategic thinking are amazing. This book is a MUST READ for anyone interested in activist investing. My most influential book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Carl Icahn___ a brilliant Shylock
An interesting & detailed look into the hunting methods & machinations of the notorious corporate raider of the 1980's , Carl Icahn . A shylock-like shady character from Brooklyn ,Icahn comes across as a brilliant Machiavellian Wall Street shark whose humble lower middle class origins seemed to have whetted his appetite for his soon to be corporate preys.Interestingly , like some other legendary investors ( George Soros , Jim Rogers, Benjamin Graham etc) Icahn was drawn to philosophy from an early age and went on to study it at Princeton ______after all Schopenhaur himself was a hard-nosed savvy investor! Also like most legendary investors he grew up poor .This book dissects in detail the anatomy of Icahn's raids on Texaco , TWA and others, along with the doomed(for most investors) but brilliant(for Icahn & his clique) concept of taking control of susceptible companies through leveraged buyouts financed with junk bonds & subsequently selling off the family silver to line his own pocket! He also perfected the art of "greenmail" by blackmailing vulnerable managements and thus enriching himself at the expense of his fellow shareholders . Icahn comes across as a lean, mean, street-smart SOB who had the brains and the chutzpah to take on the most entrenched managements on Wall Street . ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nurse's need this!
Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul is a book long overdue. These stories cannot help but touch the hearts and souls of all who read it, nurses or not. Nurses will recognize their own experiences somewhere in these stories, which affirm the personal nature of nursing and the importance of personal touch involved in the care of others. The authors have done nursing a wonderful service in bringing to light the touching, funny, heartfelt anecdotes shared by those at the bedside.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Starting Point and for Getting Unstuck
These 'planners' are a great place to start when designing a treatment plan. They are the equivalent of a 'manual' that refreshes memory, assists with language and format- and gets you past the block. Its weaknesses lie in its treatment methods and assessment paradigm.
The chapters as they delineate conditions and DSMIV categories were well chosen. Academic disorders received appropriate emphasis within the total clinical perspective.
So what's missing? The advances of neuropsychiatry for one. The Ungame and the other published materials are offered in the back for purposes of purchase and review.
The methodologies are limited to play therapy and techniques like the "ungame." The precision, as in, what and how such activities will yield is just too vague and rather dated.
A nonverbal learning disability, for example, will need a qualitatively different play activity than a child with disorder of written expression, or autistic spectrum. No more one size fits all.
The book suffers from a fixation on the psychodynamic approach which we know from research has not effectively met the needs for many disturbed kids. All patients, but more so for children, need successes to undergo change. Brain science has given us more precise tools to assess where those weaknesses lay and therefore a map to gain greater insight into the nature of the condition. Interfamilial discord, then, may be a result of poor communication or an inability to model behaviors- to treat all such dynamics similarly is generally a waste of time. Children have not got the resources to be in such confusing and often haphazard services.
The basic product then can be used for limited support and I see that as a solution in writing treatment plans. I think a good updating would do the trick.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excelent source for terapists
I have found this book of tremendous help as I have worked with children in clinical practice. I higly recommend it!
