2-0 out of 5 stars Don't rely on this alone....
I was just looking for cna testing guides.I ended up just getting a copy of a novell course book and returned this book instead. You'd do better if you just bought testing software from bigred testing.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book + CNE QuizR 4.5 = CNE in 4 days!
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has 'real world' experience/knowledge.There are precious few wasted words here;If it is in the book, it is on the test.

Last Thursday night at 8:00 pm Icompleted my research on what book(s), and chose this book, and only thisbook. While no book is perfect, this one plus CNEQUIZR 4.5 (yes pay theunlock codes) filled the bill.

NOTE:An inexperienced person shouldnot expect to acheive the CNE that quick, however this book does fit thebill.

Hit cramsession.com, and the CNEQuizR sites for very helpful andaccurate test requirements.

I give this book all thumbs up!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good supplement.
Overall the book is good, but this is not the only book that you should rely on studying the CNE.This is a good practice review. You can't pass all the exams relying on this one alone.

2-0 out of 5 stars SAVE YOUR MONEY -- BUY ANOTHER BOOK NOT THIS ONE
This book is severely lacking. There are tons of mistakes. You read a chapter, try to do the sample questions, only to find out the information on the questions is NO WHERE to be found in the text.I bought it as a supplement to a computer based training CD that I purchased for $1,200--and I can only say thank god I wasn't completely cheap and only bought the book because I would have wasted my time and money studying for the exams with only this book.I would recommend only borrowing it from someone as a supplement to either a class, CBT or VBT format.I like the questions, though. There are a lot of them and they were helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm getting my CNE with this book!
I've studied for my CNE tests from several different sources, but I didn't know which one to trust.I've spent $100's of dollars in classes and other books, but nothing else compared to this book in preparing me for the tests. After passing 5 of Novell's CNE tests, the $50 or so was well spent! It covers exactly the information I needed to know, and many of the test questions were almost exact duplicates of what I saw on the tests.Beware, however, because there are many flaws in the testing sections of the book.It was a bit frustrating at first, and I had to do a minimum of research to verify the correct answers, but the errors became fewer and fewer further into the book.At least it told me what I needed to know, and I haven't failed any of the real tests! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad book.....
This wasn't the strongest Sybex book I've ever purchased, but it worked well when used with other resources. Not a bad book. Keeping in mind that this book is written for the experienced IT professional, after all, you are supposed to be a CNE already, it covers what it needs to. It makes the points of what will be on the test and does an adequate job of it. The practice tests were probably the most useful portion of the book.

Remember that the purpose of this book is to assist you in passing the test, not to be a real world reference. If you want a real world reference manual, buy a Netware 5 reference book, not a test study guide.

1-0 out of 5 stars Agree with Robert Smith's review, but would say "stinks"
This book confuses the student by calling the Zenworks Desktop Managementcomponent "Workstation Manager". Leaves out phase 4 & 5 ofthe Zenworks setup process, mixing all into only 3 phases. Never mentions"ReRegister Workstations". Coverage of DNS Resource objects isminimal. It completely leaves out any discussion of A-Records, MX-Records,NS-Records, and PTR-Records. Is very weak on DNS & DHCP IMPORTING ofdatabases, and adding licenses later. No mention of NSS Resource objects, such as MMibm, and others as on the test. Recommend Clarkes notes instead!

1-0 out of 5 stars This book smells bad...
This book stinks! This book does not prepare you for the exam. For example, it states different system requirements than stated by Novell. It also leaves a lot to the imagination regarding real world setup andconfiguration. It doesn't go into enough detail about NSS, NLS, DNS. Thesepeople should owe me 100 bucks!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Willing to Risk $95 After Reading This Book
This book inadequately prepares you for the Certification test.Considering the questions that were asked during the test which I heard from other CNE's, I would like to get an alternate book, and get my moneyback for this "outline".Certainly, with my knowledge of NetWare5 from the book, I won't risk putting down $95 for certification.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pass test with both Sybex and Novell Press books
I bought both the Novell Press and Sybex books forthe NetWare 5 update exam and was able to pass the test on the first try.(I always buy a NP and a Sybex book, whenever possible, for each Novell certification test Itake.)The Novell Press book was a little better, but if you have anyexperience with NetWare 5 and TCP/IP, these 2 books will do the job foryou. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good referense source
I found this book very helpfull in preparing for the core tech exam but i found that it doesn't focus enough on subnetting and supernetting and i had to refer to external refrences to learn these subjects and to my surprisethe test was full of subneting questions! over all its a very good bookbecause it gives you good information and leaves out the usless stuff!

3-0 out of 5 stars Passable book -- Barely
This book, like NW5 Admin. and Design, does manage to covermost of the material on the two tests. However, there are severalnoticeable errors (confusing typos, mislabelled diagrams) in the first edition, so be careful. The book also tends to focus on subject material differently than the tests covered. So, if you are using this book as a primary source, you may want to supplement it with something else, especially if you want good practice questions. The practice questions offered with this book leave a lot to be desired.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but could be improved
I read this book and passed the CNE exam. So it does work. Also, it is well written and well organized. But the real CNE exam is much harder than the practice questions in this books, and the book gives a wrong idea thatthe exam questions are all multiple choice. Some parts such as the harddisks section are a bit dated, as is giving Token Ring and Ethernet equalimportance and having more discussion of Bridges than of switching hubs, but I guess that is consistent with Novell's tests. Also the occassionalunexplained references to ArcNet might be confusing to some people. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book to read right before you take the test
I read the David Clarke book, then read this book and then made a 90 on the test. I really feel that the Exam Cram book was more geared towards the actual test. The Clarke book provides a lot of background and very useful, but not necessarily test related information. I highly recommend both booksfor this particular test.

3-0 out of 5 stars CNE 5 Networking Technologies
Very condensed with regards to what is needed to pass. You will need additional materials beyond what this book has to offer, just to get a better overview of the material. All the material is here but an overviewwill help digest the condensed format of this CramExam. This book willcompliment any good reference materials related to the 632 exam. Good luck!Herb ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't map to ojectives, but a good book...
I don't need all the hand-holding and filler information this book contains... BUT, I know this stuff really helps people that don't have as much experience as some of us.

One person complained about none of these certification books being written at higher levels. You know why theydon't do that?Because the people at those levels don't need the books atall.Novell's website and documentation is enough for them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enough metaphores already
I'm still studying both books.I don't know how these will help me on the exams, but I can say that I am going nuts having to read all these stupid metaphores.I am sure there are some people out there who are not toosharp and can benefit from his analogies, etc, but I just want to learnNetware, not his every little view point on life.

Well that's my rant, onthe whole the books are both filled with tons of information, and I ampretty sure that the exams will be passable if I ever finish reading thesetwo books!(about 2400 pages combined)

2-0 out of 5 stars what ajoke, I'd rather read whitepapers...
As a professional in the field, I am apalled that sucha book can exist.Who wants to learn about philosophy? Why can't anyone write a book that just lists the facts?Don't sugar coat anything or waste time with funnystories and anecdotes like this author did.Just get to the point.

1-0 out of 5 stars I am critical of this book's approach to CNA
I have no pleasure in announcing that I feel Clarke's approach is awkward, indirect, and often impertinent. I would rather not report this opinion, but I feel that this author spends too much time philosophizing andpromoting, and too little time explaining. He certainly tries, and, in myopinion, too often misses. The CDs included are not instructional, andfile listings on some pages are known to be incorrect -- negatives notcommensurate with a production of this cost and importance.Sorry . . .

1-0 out of 5 stars If you have high blood pressure, don't read this book!
This book will probably make you stroke out if you are easily annoyed by cutsy interruptions and "Zen" utterances.I found this book unusable for my CNE study. One must read and absorb the entire book beforeyou take any test. Some of the information is dated and occasionally someerrors.I recommend Novell's "white books" along with Self TestSoftware test prep material...don't waste your money on this book ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Quite a Textbook; Not Quite a Reference
I have graduated from ASU's Nursing College 2.5 years ago and was privileged to have Susan Stillwell, the author of this book, as a professor. She is an excellent and knowledgeable teacher. Since graduation I have worked as a CVICU & CV Recovery nurse at a cardiovascular specialty hospital.

I found this book difficult to navigate while taking the critical course and I have not found it helpful since graduating. In my opinion it is not organized clearly enough to be helpful as a quick reference (like say Kathy White material). The explanation of how to do tasks is broken down into too much common-sense minutia (like "gather materials"). On the flipside it is not detailed enough to qualify for a textbook, so the book falls into some unfortunate I-don't-know-what-to-do-with-you middle ground. I suppose that accounts for the low resale costs. I think most students sell this one after school.

What the book does well that I have not seen others do is to group critical care topics according to nursing diagnoses; therefore, it will serve the nursing student very well, and may help you to think more like they teach nurses are supposed to think and less like a doctor.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Nurse Reference to Own!!
Simply the Only Nurse reference to own! This concisely written book indexes topics into easily accessible headers by systems head to toe.
It's sturdy pages, waterproof, flexible binding and 7"x5"x1" size makes it pocket- and backpack-friendly. With pages recessed 1/4 inch beneath the cover crisp pages stay clean. This book is so packed with beautifully-presented, relevant information the only other book I take to work is the 4-page AHA ACLS Cheat Sheet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Answers at your fingertips
This is the best critical care reference tool I have used. The content is clearly written, and offers easy to find answers to common and not so common situations. The content has a brief review of the major body systems, and also includes the "what to look for, what to do, and How to do it" information we critical care nurses are sometimes looking for.Nursing diagnosis is included, as well as many indexes of quick reference information.I bought this book when I first entered critical care five years ago, it has been very useful. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars ok for basic info, read older Netware 3.12,Intranetware book
Well, 3 stars...why because they only target Netware5 related questions. I just missed out the first exams, and after a resit passed. The exam relates to all netware versions, 3/4/5 which the book does not advise. Get a olderIntranetware 4 book and study from that as well. You will need a veryrounded knowledge base to get past the exam.

ServiceSupport CD gets alarge number of questions...why..no idea. I asked Novell, and was advisedthat they are reviewing this for the next update. Remember this is a addedprice to netware, but they question you on this.

This books is okay forwhat is between the covers, where it fails is what is doesn't tell you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ordered product and receive a different product
Ordered this product to be able to study with my book, and what I receive was not what I ordered so needilessly I am very upset and disappointed. This is my first time after three years of ordering through amozon that I received something completely wrong. Would like my money back but I doubt that this will be honored. I do plan on trying to order this product again but if I get the wrong book this will not be the last bad reveiw.

3-0 out of 5 stars its ok but lacks answer key
the book is a really good "test bank" to get you ready for a test but does not have an answer key...all it has are page numbers of where to find the answer (which have not always been 100% correct) not worth the money I spent on it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Textbook Review
Upon receipt of my book I was a little surprised that it was a paperback.Usually when i order a textbook from Amazon, they are normally hardback books. However, this I know has nothing to do with Amazon.com, but has everything to do with the publisher of the book.Otherwise, I was please with my book and the speed at this I received it.As a matter of fact, I order all of my textbooks from Amazon because of their wonderful service.

3-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat helpful study guide...
Study guide is somewhat helpful in the fact that, like any other work book, it helps jog your memory. However, the answers are not located in the back of the book. Page numbers are listed next to each question, so you have to go back through the text book to reread the page. That's fine, but not in a pinch.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I was looking for
I dont really consider this book a study guide, its more of a workbook. This book does not provide an answer key, but page numbers where the answers can be found in the actual lecture book. So if youre looking for a quick review book like i was, this isnt for you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book for all in Healthcare. New features just wonderful!!
Finally! A book that teaches students and practicing professionals how and why they make those day-to-day practice decisions. Quick. Easy. User Friendly! This book provides the reader with an easy to follow, contextually based ethical framework from which to practice-one based on the premise that we hold a social contract or agreement with our patients. It is a book about 'every day' decisions and how we conduct our practice, prevent burnout, and learn to function well for patients and the public in a complex health care system. The book features new, terrific case studies and their solutions, objectives, discussion questions and an extensive faculty guide, powerpoints, and test questions. The book is applicable at all levels of nursing education and is also excellent as an adjunct to courses or as a centerpiece of a stand-alone bioethics course. A must have for every health care practitioner and student!Anne B.

5-0 out of 5 stars Much more thana book!
Once I started reading this exceptional book, I could not stop." Ethical Decision Making in Nursing and Health care: the symphonological approach" is much more than a book, it is a way of living and interacting with people. The book is rich with case studies and scenarios that stimulate discussion and critical thinking. The language used is friendly even to non native English speakers .This book is highly remarkable because it helps the reader to understand the ethical values of the American society. It emphasizes the professional/ patient agreement; it clarifies the nature of the ethical context and identifies the bioethical standards. I advise all nurses to read and discuss this book with their colleagues.
