5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Series
We purchased this series to help my oldest learn to read. His Kindergarten teacher had told us he would never learn to read. The books are simply written and maintain the same plot line through all the books. The main character is always "Little (letter of the book." Each character has a box and decides to fill it with items that start with that letter. My oldest (now 8) reads on the 6th grade level with full comprehension. These books have done wonders in our house. I'm sorry to find that this series is now so hard to come by. I will definately hold on to these for my other children and then for their children. ... Amazon.com Review
Jewel and Gem Goop. Make-it-Yourself Stickers. Tornado in aBottle. Funny Putty. Fruity Lip Gloss. Magic Muck. Snow Globe. Scratch & Sniff Watercolors. Believe it or not, it's possible--easy, in fact!--to make every one of these "wacky, wild, and crazy concoctions" (and 57more) using common household ingredients. John E. Thomas and DanitaPagel have pulled together the cream of the crop of potions, clays, andall-around weird swills for the pleasure of children and scientists ofall ages. Why not introduce the very youngest artist of the house to the world of art with Puddin' Paint? Is there a geologist in the house? Make an Instant Volcano--begins with a fizz, then erupts in a bubbling flow of lava. Time for a bath? Try Bathtub Finger Paints--bathers and the tub will get clean at the same time! These truly amazing concoctions are not mess-free, but they guarantee hours of absorbed, lively, creative fun, and inspiration for a lifetime of imaginative endeavors. Brief scientific explanations would have been a welcome addition, but maybe young readers will be motivated to explore the chemical, physical, and geological origins of these experiments on their own. Adult supervision is recommended for all projects. (Ages 5 and older) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

The book arrived 19 days after it was purchased. It was purchased to generate ideas for our daughter's birthday party and arrived after the party date. Seller tells me 19 days is an acceptable wait time, so no refund. What a shame.

Product Description
This centennial edition of E. E. Cumming's Complete Poems, published in celebration of his birth on October 14, 1894, contains all of the poems published or designated for publication by the poet in his lifetime.

At the time of his death in 1962, E. E. Cummings was, next to Robert Frost, the most widely read poet in America. Combining Thoreau's controlled belligerence with the brash abandon of an uninhibited bohemian, Cummings, together with Pound, Eliot, and William Carlos Williams, helped bring about the twentieth-century revolution in literary expression. He is recognized on the one hand as the author of some of the most beautiful lyric poems written in the English language, and on the other as one of the most inventive American poets of his time—in the worlds of Richard Kostelanetz, "the major American poet of the middle-twentieth-century." ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A different look
The world is a different place when seen through the eyes of E. E. Cummings--or is it e.e.cummings?! To randomly read his work is to become somewhat disoriented by the thoughts, the violations of all one's carefully learned rules of grammar. It's like being launched into space, an other-worldly experience; and yet, it's all rooted in our worldly existence. It really must be viewed on the page and read outloud.

5-0 out of 5 stars e.e. cummings is the best!
Some of e.e. cummings' poems are esoteric, but many of them are absolutely beautiful.Give him a chance and read as many as you can.You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars E.E. Cummings: Complete Poetry
Awesome. If you love poetry, and if you do not have this book on your shelf, then there is something wrong. Very moving and wonderfully written and edited. Kudos. Kudos

5-0 out of 5 stars be your own judge...
ee cummings is my favorite poet, so obviously I'm a little biased. But if you love poetry you'll appreciate cummings' unique style, emotion, thought process and expression that will make you think about what his writing means for days on end.

I've tried to illustrate his poems, never doing them any justice, but it's a fun exercise in understanding what he felt when writing.

If you're knew to ee I would suggest reading one of his poems, just one... flip through the book and pick any single one of them, then you'll know what I mean.

Just how many people can make money by teaching other people how to make money? She has nothing new and certainly no product considerations. Save your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for all Information Marketers
If you are currently selling information products or creating your own to sell online then you need to read this book. This book is chuck full of examples of successful information product marketers. If you ever plan to self publish a book then this book can also help. As an experienced internet marketer with a few information products for sale, I found this book to be very helpful. I learned quite a bit about various strategies I can use to increase my sales and publicity. Get this book today and start learning how you can make money selling information products.

4-0 out of 5 stars As a publisher with an MBA and a MLS-holding librarian I was anxious to read this book...
I live in both the producing and consuming realms of infopreneurship -- I'm publisher of "Timberlane Books" in my spare time and a voracious information-consuming librarian by day at a fairly large (25,000 student) university. Needless to say, I was delighted to come upon Stephanie Chandler's book to see what kind of tips and ideas she had put in her book.

Owner of Book Lovers Bookstores in Sacramento, California, Chandler is also a public speaker, founder of [...] and author. Her first book, "The Business Startup Checklist and Planning Guide: Seize Your Entrepreneurial Dreams!" was published in 2005.

I found "From Entrepreneur to Infopreneur: Make Money with Books, ebooks, and Information Products," to be a good "introduction for beginners" for those interested in repackaging their expertise and knowledge into an infopreneural product. Having "been there, done that," I can say that the sections of the book devoted to book development, writing, publishing and marketing are especially well-done. If readers follow her detailed instructions, they won't go wrong -- as long as they have a product readers want to buy. And, the step-by-step instructions for self-publishing are obviously written from experience as well -- as a writer and bookstore owner.

There's a lot of good content here as the chapter titles attest:

Ch. 1 "Information Product Opportunities: Fire-up Those Revenue Streams!"
Ch. 2 "Celebrity Sells: Achieving Expert Status."
Ch. 3 "Author Aspirations: Effective Writing for Books."
Ch. 4 "Go Big: How to Get Published Traditionally."
Ch. 5 "Do It Yourself: Self-Publishing Demystified."
Ch. 6 "eBooks and Special Reports: Make Money While You Sleep."
Ch. 7 "Other Information products: More Money in the Bank"
Ch. 8 "Your Web Site: Build it and They Will Come."
Ch. 9 "Online Marketing Techniques: Spanning the Globe."
Ch. 10 Offline marketing Techniques: Pounding the Pavement.
Ch. 11 "Catch a Buzz: Book Marketing."
Ch. 12 "Carpe Diem: Put Your Plans Into Action."

It's a delighful read, well-designed with a good structure that easily flows from one topic to the next. Reader's will especially enjoy the interview of an "expert" individual at the end of each chapter. Easily read in one business trip of one-to-two hours flying each way.

Highly recommended for individuals working at any point of the information-infopreneur pipeline as a useful and practical beginner's manual to help them break into electronic or hard-copy print.

An essential purchase for college and university libraries and worthwhile for public libraries in large metropolitan areas to consider.

Product Description
Of the many admiring reviews Bram Stoker’s Dracula received when it first appeared in 1897, the most astute praise came from the author's mother, who wrote her son: 'It is splendid. No book since Mrs. Shelley's Frankenstein or indeed any other at all has come near yours in originality, or terror.'

A popular bestseller in Victorian England, Stoker's hypnotic tale of the bloodthirsty Count Dracula, whose nocturnal atrocities are symbolic of an evil ages old yet forever new, endures as the quintessential story of suspense and horror. The unbridled lusts and desires, the diabolical cravings that Stoker dramatized with such mythical force, render Dracula resonant and unsettling a century later.

From the Trade Paperback edition.Amazon.com Review
Dracula is one of the few horror books to be honored byinclusion in the Norton Critical Edition series. (The others areFrankenstein, The Turn of the Screw, Heart ofDarkness, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and TheMetamorphosis.) This 100th-anniversary edition includes not onlythe complete authoritative text of the novel with illuminatingfootnotes, but also four contextual essays, five reviews from the timeof publication, five articles on dramatic and film variations, andseven selections from literary and academic criticism. Nina Auerbachof the University of Pennsylvania (author of Our Vampires,Ourselves) and horror scholar David J. Skal (author of Hollywood Gothic,The MonsterShow, and Screams of Reason) are the editors of thevolume. Especially fascinating are excerpts from materials that BramStoker consulted in his research for the book, and his working papersover the several years he was composing it. The selection of criticismincludes essays on how Dracula deals with female sexuality, gender inversion, homoerotic elements, and Victorian fears of"reverse colonization" by politically turbulentTransylvania. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
This was one of the best books that I had to read for anthro. Keeps you interested about what's going to happen next. Very interesting and a good book

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!Fantastic!
Just reading Count Dracula's greeting, "Welcome to my house.Come freely.Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you bring!" gave me chills as well as fantastically visual descriptions of the Count and the atmosphere.I was also glad that I had not had much exposure to the diluted, popularized versions of Vampire movies and contemporary Vampire trends, therefore was unaffected. This is a fantastically entertaining book, and not only about the Vampire but actually more about the characters and the culture, and the journal style of narratives by different characters works very well to really capture the experiences of horror, valor, faith, and intelligence of the characters. I actually think that Mina is the most interesting one that has multiple and sophisticated elements---somewhat of a martyr, ideal Victorian woman, and at the same time with a sharp analytical and investigave mind-- which is rather surprising considering the Victorian culture. The writing is so beautiful and clever that extreme violence, gore and sexuality that could have easily been over the top, are not disruptive of the story, or of the underlying concepts of eternal life through Christ's blood and the eternal youth and life through destruction. What a great treat!

5-0 out of 5 stars "For the dead travel fast"
Surprisingly "Denn die Toten reiten schnell" or "For the dead travel fast" is more than an opening line to this tale of love in the dangerous moon light. After watching several Drac movies and a few Nosferatu's, I pretty much though I had a handle on the genera.Little did I know what a wonderful world of mystery and suspense that Bram Stoker opened up for me.

The story is told mostly third party though the papers, diaries, and phonograph recordings (on wax cylinders) of those people involve in a tale so bizarre that it almost defies belief. The general story line is that of a Count that plans to move to a more urban setting (from Borgo Pass to London) where there is a richer diet. There he finds succulent women; something he can sing his teeth in. Unfortunately for him a gang of ruffians (including a real-estate agent, asylum director, Texas cowboy and an Old Dutch abnormal psychologist) is out to detour his nocturnal munching. They think they have Drac on the run but with a wing and a prayer he is always one step ahead.

Of more value to the reader is the rich prose chosen by Stoker as he describes the morals and technology of the time. We have to come to grips with or decide if we can perform the rituals that are required to eliminate vampires verses the impropriety of opening graves and staking loved ones. The powers in the book differ from the movie versions in that they are more of persuasion and capabilities to manipulate the local weather. At one point the Dutch Dr. Van Helsing, is so overwhelmed by a beautiful vampire laying in the grave that he almost for gets why he is there and may become vamp chow.

All in all the story is more in the cunning chase. And the question as to will they succeed or will Dracula triumph.Remember "For the dead travel fast."

Dracula

2-0 out of 5 stars Past its prime and victorian to boot!
I don't especially care for scary movies or books, so I've avoided this book over the years. However, with the preponderance of vampire lit in our culture I thought I'd finally crack the binding of this book. I didn't find it particularly spine-chilling or evocative-- perhaps I'm deadened to such paltry imagery summoned here compared with our modern mediums. Still, the plot was decent and as the progenitor of so much culture within the hoi polloi it is consistent with the recommendation of a must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reads Better Than Most Modern Horror
Please read this instead of these wonky modern vampire books. Although it was written in the 19th century it flows in a modern way and the first 50 pages are the best opening of any book in horror history.

2-0 out of 5 stars agree with other reviewers: very short article (not a book)
I am tech limited so need all the help I can get in adding anything but a book to my Kindle. I bought this set of instructions (definitely NOT a book!) because it has pictures of the screens so I thought it would be easier to find the correct buttons to select while following the instructions. The images are almost illegible on the Kindle 2. I did not learn how to download a book from a site other than Amazon (which any Kindle user already knows). The price is small, but the same advice is probably free somewhere in the forums or in the handbook that comes with the Kindle. I agree with the reviewer who said it did not cover how to download books that are not already in the Kindle format. I usually download books directly to my Kindle and not to my computer so this book was a waste of money for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Barty
This book is mistitled. It doesn't tell how to convert books already in e-book format. Only how to change the format when saving a new download. Very disappointing as I did not learn anything different to the user guide.

Product Description

She needs to find a husband but in truth would rather not.

Miss Emily Sinclair has just answered the summons that will change her life.  On the eve of spinsterhood, she is offered a month to find a willing gentleman or suffer a marriage to her stepmother's odious cousin.  Neither choice seems palatable.

He wants to remain a bachelor and is weary of marriage-minded misses.

Lord Brandon Davenport has had more than enough of marriage—the infidelity, the gossip, the inconvenience.  It has all reaffirmed his conviction to never involve himself in such a predicament.

Of course, need and want are very different matters...or are they?

When the two find themselves grudgingly paired in the ambush of highwaymen, temper is matched equally with desire, leading Emily to realize that Brand is the perfect prey for her husband hunt.  But is Brand too cagey to be caught in her trap?

4-0 out of 5 stars Pure Regency Escapism!
Unladylike Pursuits was the perfect book for me to escape in while on vacation--brisk and light and set in a favorite period in history, I'd recommend it to any reader of romances looking for a new author to try.

3-0 out of 5 stars An excellent story told through mediocre writing
I have been reading tons of romance lately, and I have to say that I have never fallen asleep while reading any of them, not even when I was reading until 4am.However, there has to be a first for everything and unfortunately Unladylike Pursuits was it.

The story itself was enjoyable, however, the writing was definitely not. There were some witty banter thrown about here and there between the characters, but most of the time the conversations seem a little disjointed and the inner thoughts of the characters were horribly dull, pointless and unnecessary. It got to the point where I decided to just skim over the characters' thoughts and continue reading when the story started up again.Again, the plot of the novel was interesting, and I did find myself wanting to know how the story will develop and end, so the novel is not an absolute failure.

The narration and thoughts needs to be more concise and less repetitive, and the character development for all the cast besides the main heroine needs to have more depth. If those things are improved upon, then this book would be more enjoyable to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable!
I really liked this historical romance story. I loved the drama of Emily having to find a husband against her will otherwise her father will marry her off to some distant relative, and Brandon having sworn off marriage more or less to spite his father, and the fact these two fall in love while not knowing who the other is, but helping each other solve the highwaymen mystery. I think my only complaints are that I found the whole side-story with Sophie and Colin was a bit boring and this all seems to have taken place within less than a week's time and seems a bit impossible, but that's fiction for you and it made it no less enjoyable for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars unladylike pursuits
i must say that unladylike pursuits is now my number one favorite book of all time.. a chic book for sure and the best read!! i found myself laughing out loud and felt like i was actually there with the characters, wanting to find out what was going to happen next, yet not wanting the book to end..this book is so cleverly written you will find yourself thinking about the characters long after the book is over.. i am anxiously awaiting anymore books from alyssa goodnight, andlet anyone who asks me if i have read anything worth reading lately, that this is now my number one book and simply worth the time and money to own and to read this book..you simply will not be disappointed!!

2-0 out of 5 stars S-L-O-W...
If a book has an overwhelming amount of 5-stars, I usually dismiss the one or two negative reviews when buying it, but this time I should have paid more attention to them.

I will not rehash the plot, and will only say about the characters that the heroine acted more like a compulsive thirteen-year-old with total lack of judgment than a woman of twenty-five. This was a poorly connected story; the detailed explanations of what people were thinking and feeling-in case the reader was incapable to make her own conclusions-and the slow and convoluted way this tale developed were all lengthy and repetitious. I decided to skip pages to move things along on my own, only to find out that, no matter where I stopped to read, I seemed to be in the same place I'd left off.

I agree with one of the reviewers that some parts were witty and well-written, and I especially agree that Ms. Goodnight needs, without a doubt, a better editor.

I hope Ms. Goodnight does not do what I did and pay attention only to the 5-star reviews; this is just the beginning of her career and we welcome new writers and fresh ideas. I'll be looking for new titles under her name, asmany will, too. Simplify, don't underestimate the readers' intelligence, learn to string events in a cohesive manner, live your characters and give them depth and consistency.

In the meantime, I'm rereading my Lisa Kleypas' and my Julia Quinn's. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for fans of Presidential Agent series
After plowing through Griffin's Presidential Agent series I needed something to hold me over until the next in the series, The Outlaws, is published. So I checked out The Aviators and was not disappointed. The protaganist, Johnny Oliver, is a lot like the presidential agent, Charlie Castillo and the story is pretty good too.If Griffin ever tires of writing about Castillo, perhaps he could resurrect Oliver.

3-0 out of 5 stars Stretching?
I get the indication that the author is sort of reaching in an attempt to prolong this series.Better to leave it as is and go off on another track, in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another spectacular series of historical fiction by WEB Griffin
Just one more exciting story with familiar characters set in true historically accurate US war campaigns ranging from WWII through the Korean conflict.W.E.B. Griffin has a smooth pen, a keen sense of accuracy and characters you'd love to sit down with at a bar and discuss their experiences during their service.

Of all the books I've read by Griffin, which are too many to remember, each in a series of 7-10 books on one subject, the Scotch Whiskey which is mentioned over and over again as the drink of choice for officers and the well to do, happens to be a real brand with is relatively inexpensive and a wonderful tasting scotch.

These series are so good that each book is essentially a one sitting read and leaves you yearning for the next in the series and dreaming of how great a movie each series would be and as you read you are easily placing actors in the places of each character.A true storyteller with stories which captivate you.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Army now flies
WEB Griffin in his never ending tale of the US Army from World War ll until about the end of the Vietnam War continues to keep you spellbound. For a series of I don't know how many books, you want him to keep writing more. Very good read. Highly Recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why did the US ever go to Vietnam
Part of a series by W E B Griffin following two main as well as many major players in their life. What I liked was being able to read out of sequence without ruining the story line, unusual for an American author isnt so gung ho on their ways. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the first book my son can "read"
My 3 year old son (39 months) does not read yet, or really recognize many letters, but he is "reading" this book. He has memorized the words and now "reads" this book to us! It is a fun book, with good pictures and great, "rhymey" words. We all like it and read it at least once every night before bed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
A+
Great book.Very cute, funny and entertaining.
Fantastic for beginning readers needing practice with their vowel sounds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids LOVE this book
This is one of the best early children's books. The illustrations are fantastic, and the words are fun to say aloud. The rhyming pattern is reminiscent of Seuss, and teaches phonological awareness in the same fun way. My son laughed and laughed at the sheep; and every child I've subsequently gifted with the book has loved it just as much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
This book is a favorite with our two year old son. And its short and sweet enough that I don't mind reading it every night like he wants to. It never gets old to him--he actually anticipates reaching the page where the jeep lands in the mud. Great memories to build.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT..Perfect size
I have this book in the small board book size and now the lapboard size. The small book is great; however, the small size pictures fail to keep my daughter's interest. This large lap-size boardbook is a perfect combination between the durability of a board book with the large size of a picture book. Love it! It is too bad I ordered this as a baby shower gift because now I will have to order another one for myself. =) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but not what I thought it was
When I ordered it I thougt it was an unabridged but it was the abrided copy.Totally my falt the seller was clear I miss read the email. Having said that it is a perfect copy of the recording & a fun few hours.

5-0 out of 5 stars The New Breed
This is the second time to submit a review of this book. As I wrote before, the response by the seller was very timely and the book was in good condition considering the age.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brotherhood of War Series
The Brotherhood of War series is excellent.W.E.B. has an excellent knowledge and very easy to read style.I've read the Presidential Agent series and The Corp series and they are all good.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Captains, The Majors, etc.
I bought the whole series years ago, sold them on e-bay, and now my wife is reading them.We had to purchase them all over again.Great series of books.Great author who keeps you interested throughout.I just might re-read them myself. They are fast "reads."Exciting, and although W.E.B. Griffin writes with authority, some of his technical jargon is a bit phony and errors do occasionally show up.I forgive him.I especially noted this with Weather reports and control tower jargon, having worked for thirty-seven years in that field.Griffin could use a better editor to eliminate some of those errors. His earlier books contain some sex scenes which don't feel natural and they were unnecessary as well.Ten books into his writting, he no longer writes these uncomfortable and unnecessary scenes. None-the-less, these are all great books and good reading and now with about 30 titles completed, one can expect to spend a long time consuming his tales.I highly recommend them.

5-0 out of 5 stars The New Breed: Brotherhood of War Series
This a good book in the series that follows fictional charaters while laced with factual data regarding conflicts of nations during war and peace. ... Read more
