Este trabajo es algo que Panasiuk ya tratara en su libro "como llego a fin de mes", allí está incluido el tema (por si quiere matar dos pajaros de un tiro, o comprar dos libros en uno :)

No obstante, trata muy bien la problematica, comenzando por el análisis de porqué nos endeudamos, y luego entonces, como lidiar con el asunto -comenzando por preparar un presupuesto como herramienta basica para superar los gastos excesivos-, hasta superarlo. También toca el tema del ahorro, y el mantener un fondo de emergencia como medida preventiva, ya que los supuestos "imprevistos" suelen provocar crisis y endeudamientos prematuros para quienes no mantienen una reserva para dichas "emergencias" previsibles, generalmente.

En terminos generales, un buen libros, pese a que insisto en recomendar el mejor libro de Panasiuk, puesto que es más completo -incluyendo como salir de las deudas- y extenso. ¿Como llego a fin de mes? ... Read more

This book should be renamed as "Adventures in Microsoft Office".

The book has almost nothing to do with MIS or managing information systems. Instead it is just a collection of exercises related to Microsoft Office's Excel and Access.

Stair & Reynolds take the middle road
Having both studied and taught IS, I'll make two separate sets of comments - one for professors and one for students.

Students first...There is a well-done website that accompanies the book, which includes outlines, sample tests & quizzes, and related study materials.The text is about average in terms of readability in comparison to other texts on the subject (IS texts tend to read a little on the dry side).Unless your professor insists on the latest edition, you may be able to get by with a previous edition, since the chapter structures & content haven't been re-arranged much for the last two editions.You must be advised on the issue of using previous editions, though, since Stair and Reynolds do a fair job of keeping the material up-to-date.

For professors...In my experience, IS texts seem to fall into either a highly technical or highly managerial category.Stair and Reynolds do a fair job of plotting a course between the two, although I have found that the "technical" chapters seem to be a little too much for undergraduate business students in their standard "MIS" course (I've never taught engineering students, but the same may hold true for the "managerial" chapters on the other side of the fence).The text is accompanied with ample instructor resources, including a CD and a website with slideshows, notes, outlines, and various other pedagogical tools.The testbank is easy to use, but can be somewhat challenging for an undergraduate business student, adequate for an undergraduate MIS student, and contains enough "difficult" questions that you should be able to use it for a MBA students as well.I would pick something else for a graduate MS/ MIS curriculum.Stair and Reynolds have also done a fair job of keeping the material up-to-date, which has resulted, after six editions, in a pretty decent proiduct.For me, the instructor resources make Stair and Reynolds a good choice by comparison to other IS texts.

Scary that they allow some of this nonsense to be published!
Although this book must be commended on the variety of topics and sub topics covered, it is very badly researched. Some sections I doubt were even researched at all, it seemed as if the author is just giving his opinion on how he "thinks" things are, and in the majority of these cases, he is at best only half right. My favorites are his lists like, Consists of..., Divided into the following..., Main elements are... etc. Some of these lists can only have been sucked out of his thumb, because they certainly were not based on any thoroughly researched facts.
IS is actually based on some very simple concepts that have grown and developed into today's seemingly complicated IS infrastructure and not the black and white boxes that Stair tries fit things into. I doubt the authors have much practical experience of IT, because they don't know the difference between marketing concepts and real IT concepts. These are just "selling techniques guys" not IS principles!

I would say that this book is not written for novices, but by novices. If you don't know any better then I think you will enjoy this book, because it will fit in well with a novicesfalse preconceptions of how Information systems work. If you come from a practical IT background of 10 years + like myself and have actually witnessed the development of some of these technologies, this is a scary read.

One last note, colleges and universities that use this book as a reference are simply displaying their absolute ignorance about the subject that they profess to teach.

Informative...but boring
When I began this course, I felt lucky that I had already had a lot of experience in the world of e-commerce, just because I had problems paying attention to the book when I was reading it.I found myself doing two things at the same time in order to retain any of the information in it.It has a lot of information - but it's presented in an extremely boring manner.I put off reading quite a few chapters until the day before my final exam.The only thing of any interest were the case studies at the beginning of each chapter.

Unless there's something better out there...
mmm... If I didn't have to have this book as a course text, I would have soon discarded it. Maybe I'm missing the point of what PRINCIPLES of Information Systems are all about, but I get the distinct impression from this particular book that Principles of Information Systems is simply an exercise in 'reading someone's watch, then telling them the time'. The authors formalize with great diagrams, case histories and explanations, how Information Systems are structured in business today. However they only lightly touch on what principles (good logic if you wish), should be employed in designing a 'quality' Information System. The closest they really get to this is sometimes posing the issue in the question sections (answers not provided!).I know Information Systems is a lot more than simply knowing how existing ones structured but if you want to know more beyond this, don't expect to find answers in this book. ... My baby's favorite
This was one of the first books my baby fell in love with.I like the book but my daughter loved it around 6 - 18 months.

From a teacher's perspective...great idea, bad translations in this one.
As another reviewer stated, this book has some incorrect word translations - I used a permanent marker and corrected mine, because I love this series for classroom use and for my own children - the theme goes along great with Lesson 6 in our Flip Flop Spanish workbook. Each book is wonderfully put together - I just wish she had used a little more thought in word choice.

Nice book but with errors
All the other books I've seen in this series have had Spanish-language error, but this one has the most, which I believe is due to the difficulty in trying to translate one-word prepositions in English into Spanish, which frequently require entire phrases. For example, for 'under' she has 'bajo'. In fact in Spanish one would have to say 'debajo' or 'abajo' (depending on whether you meant 'underneath' or 'movement under' something). Same thing goes for 'up' and 'down' (her translations are wrong.

Like the other books in this series, she seems for be using a Spanish-English dictionary and has little fluency in Spanish herself.

This whole series is wonderful
I have been using this entire series with my son since he was born, and he is now 14 months.He loves the pictures and turning the pages.The books use the format of one word per page and it gives both the English and Spanish form of the word.This is a great series for early language acquisition.

Couldn't stand the heroine!
I have read many, many, many Carole Mortimer books, and this is the worst I've read of her writing.I am so disappointed in this book.The heroine was a whining shrew!I wanted the hero to kick her to the curb and to take his son and run!For about 3/4 of the book she spends it giving him a hard time, then they have sex and everything is bliss. No build up to emotion, no compassion for the father who did not even know he had a son.Nothing but complaints and accusation, then sex then happily ever after!

If there was a way to get my money back I would have asked for a refund.

Frightenly prophetic
Written in 1964, Paul Goodman's anaylsis of the educational system and bureaucracy has proven all too true.The system has gone farther awry than even Mr. Goodman could have guessed, as we have added the penal system and mandatory sentencing to those discarded as cogs/clones in the educational system.The sad part is, despite the warnings of Goodman and scores of others, our schools aren't getting any better. Academic inflation (quantifiable degrees vs. knowledge) has persisted beyond anyone's dreams. The whole educational/government/corporate troica has all but strangled free thought and innovation.It's a shame that this book is out of print, as it should be required reading for school teachers, legislators, parents. As our educational process becomes increasing irrelevant and more kids get lost in the shuffle to be scopped up by gangs/police, this book becomes all the more meaningful.

Curiosities
It is refreshing to find a whole family devoted to the same art (pace, Osmonds), especially when the art is Classical Music.
This anecdotal book profits on the great marketing that the Five Browns offer, given that they are young and quite good looking. Some people might be curious of the how, when, where, etc. Not me, I am afraid. I focus on the playing and the sound product. Neverthelesss... I have heard them play and they are quite good. Since this point it is just a good show uit remains a curiosity. We shall still see whether any will develop into a serious and fine musician; at least I see the potential.
In the meantime, this book is just a "Für Elise" bagatelle, with not much consequence.

Nice stories about nice kids, nothing super exciting though.
Having pretty much picked this book at random, I had no idea who the 5 Browns were or what they looked like (my book had a different cover than the one above).The intro made me cringe a little bit.It was written by their agent and he sounded like a used car salesman who had a brand new Lamborghini show up on his lot.I'm glad he thinks they're awesome and the sign of the next coming of the savior, but blah...enough already!

The stories written by the 5 Browns themselves aren't too bad.From the way the manager talked about them, I felt they were probably all egomaniacs, but actually they are very down to earth and besides being piano virtuosos, pretty normal.It's not straight out autobiography, it's more like random vignettes written by each member.They talk about their experiences touring, studying at Juilliard, their childhoods and witnessing September 11th.Some of the stories are slightly humorous, but they're not edge of your seat exciting.Some people may not like the going back and forth in time and the constantly changing viewpoints, but I was okay with it.

You know, they seem very likable and I'm definitely more interested in them, but I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you're a fan.If you see it around for cheap at a yard sale or in the library, I think you should check it out though.It can be an amusing read.

Inspiration sometimes comes in 5s
Enjoyable read and quite the inspiration for anyone looking to follow a dream or goal. The Browns showcase what is beautiful and real about family. Blood is indeed thicker than water in this group.

A Phenomenal Family!
"Life Between The Keys... The (Mis)adventures of the 5 Browns" was an interesting read about five extraordinarily talented young siblings, whose rise to fame would be too far-fetched for a work of fiction.This book had a special appeal for me, having been a longtime member of the American Composers Forum.The reasons for my rating of only three stars:(1) The anecdotal structure of the book (which was interesting, but lacked continuity) left me wanting more.I personally would have preferred an account written in a more biographical form--providing in-depth background on this exceptional family; and how their interest and early training (and perhaps that of their parents and ancestors) in music emanated. In other words, it's not that I didn't enjoy the book... it simply left me wanting to know more.(2) Having a section of actual photos--rather than, or in addition to, the sketches--would have enhanced the book significantly, I believe.(3) Finally, although it is my understanding that the published edition of this book was released with a CD of their virtuosity, the 'Advance Uncorrected Proof' version received under Amazon.com's VINE program did not include the recordings.My bottom line, however, is... BRAVO! to these fine young musicians from one family... 'the Fabulous Five Browns!'
