COROT Camille-Jean-Baptiste Paris, 1796 - Ville-d'Avray, 1875 Corot est venu à plusieurs reprises en Bretagne. En 1829, il découvre la péninsule "pour faire des études". Au cours de ses séjours, il réside chez des amis peintres, comme Bernier à Brest ou Leroux à Paimboeuf. Totalement étranger à l'exotisme, Corot ne dessine pas les costumes de fête. Il ne vient pas en Bretagne chercher une province sauvage. Il ne réduit jamais sa vision à l'anecdote mais tente de traduire avant tout des effets plastiques. L'originalité de cette démarche qui ne souligne jamaisle particularisme provincial, annonce le nouveau regard porté sur la Bretagne par les peintres vers 1840-50.
