Otto Dix ) was a German expressionist painter Called up as a reservist during World War I , Dix was profoundly affected by the sights of the war and he later produced a series of drawings and prints which reflect that traumatic period. During the Weimar Republic Dix studied at the Dresden Art Academy, became a founder of the Dresden Secession , and was a contributor to the Neue Sachlichkeit exhibition in Berlin in 1925. Like the work of his friend and fellow veteran George Grosz , Dix's material was extremely critical of contemporary German society and often dwelled on the act of Lustmord , or sexual murder. Dix's postwar depictions of soldiers and veterans very clearly illustrates their invisibility within contemporary German society, a concept also developed in

Lithographie (Steindruck) ist ein von Aloys Senefelder Otto Dix wurden als entartet verfemt, da er in seinen Bildern Elend und Grauen darstellte, also nicht dem national-sozialistischen Ideal von Kunst entsprach. Das Bild "Der Streichholzhändler I" wurde 1920 von Otto Dix entworfen. Otto Dix war dafür bekannt, Bilder zu malen, die die Nazis dann als Propaganda für Wehrpflichtverweigerung oder Kriegsgräuel-Propaganda ansahen. An diesem Bild mit dem Kriegskrüppel, der Streichhölzer verkauft, wird es besonders deutlich. Aus diesem Grund verhöhnte man auch 15 Arbeiten von ihm in der Münchener Ausstellung "Entartete Kunst". Dieses Bild allerdings befand sich in Privatbesitz und wurde 1959 von einem Künstler erworben. Wir haben insbesondere im Musikunterricht das Bild "Großstadt" von Otto Dix mit der "Biergartenszene"
