(...) Elke kleurensymboliek is afwezig, evenals welke associatie dan ook omtrent aard, vorm, dynamiek, temperatuur, ethische weerklank en psychische eigenschappen van de kleur. (...) De Nieuwe Beelding wordt gekenmerkt door een schaars en structureel nauwgezet kleurgebruik, dat op een ongedwongen wijze in zijn eigen constructieve principe wordt opgesloten. De Aubette was een groot restaurant en in feite een historisch monument uit de 18de eeuw in Straatsburg. Van Doesburg had deze opdracht verkregen via Hans Arp, die ook aan dit project deelnam, samen met zijn vrouw Sophie Tauber-Arp.

Theo van Doesburg Het volgende fragment geeft aan hoe de als schilder begonnen Van Doesburg het accent steeds meer gaat leggen op architectonische toepassing van kleur. Geleidelijk aan werd Van Doesburg zich meer bewust van de mogelijkheid om door de integratie van schilderkunst en architectuur de toeschouwer een tijd-ruimtelijke ervaring te verschaffen. (...) Eind 1919 werd in Katwijk een ontwerp van Van Doesburg gerealiseerd. Op de wanden en deuren en ook het plafond van een kleine kamer werden grote kleurvlakken aangebracht en bovendien werden er meubels geplaatst van Rietveld. Van dit interieur verscheen in november 1920 een zwaar geretoucheerde foto in De Stijl met een korte toelichting door Van Doelburg. Hij vond het resultaat nog niet optimaal omdat hij in een bestaand gebouw met grote architectonische gebreken had moeten werken; er was geen architect met een geestverwante instelling aan te pas gekomen. 'Theo van Doesburg' Muziek van Kees Wieringa Van 12 maart t/m 18 juni 2000 vond er de grote overzichtstentoonstelling, gewijd aan het oeuvre van Theo van Doesburg (1883-1931), plaats in het Centraal Museum in Utrecht en in het Kruller-Müller Museum. Do Foundation heeft onder de titel 'Doesburg Collection' een concertserie samengesteld rond het werk van Theo en Nelly van Doesburg. Naast de concertserie heeft Kees Wieringa speciaal voor de tentoonstelling twee composities gemaakt voor respectievelijk het Centraal Museum en het Kröller-Müller Museum. Deze composities zijn afgestemd op de ruimtes waarin ze worden weergegeven. Het materiaal waarop de composities zijn gebaseerd is geheel in de geest van Theo van Doesburg en bestaat uit fragmenten van stemmen van Kurt Schwitters en onder andere muziekfragmenten uit het begin van de twintigste eeuw. Alle teksten die zijn te horen zijn van Theo van Doesburg en zijn speciaal voor deze compositie opgenomen. De compositie is ruimtelijk vormgegeven. Het geheel wordt centraal bestuurd door een computer en maakt gebruik van toevalstechnieken. De zeer complexe software hiervoor is ontwikkeld door Michèl Koenders. Bij de tentoonstelling is de bijgevoegde compact disc verschenen onder de titel 'Theo van Doesburg' op het label Do Records (DR 005) met een selectie uit de geluidslaag van de expositie. Deze compact disc is alleen in de musea verkrijgbaar! (25 gulden) of bij Do Foundation.

'Theo van Doesburg' Music by Kees Wieringa Information about the sound layer in the Van Doesburg exhibition Especially for this exhibition about Theo van Doesburg, Kees Wieringa has made two compositions for the Centraal Museum and the Kröller Möller Museum. These compositions have been tuned to the spaces in which they are reproduced. The material on which the compositions are based is entirely in the Van Doesburg vein and consists of fragments of voices of Kurt Schwitters and, among others, musical fragments from the beginning of the twentieth century. All texts used are from Theo Van Doesburg and have been especially recorded for this composition. The composition has been designed three-dimensionally. It is controlled from a central computer and uses chance techniques. The utterly complex software has been developed by Michèl Koenders. During the exhibition, a compact disc titled 'Theo van Doesburg' appears on the label of DO records (DR 005) with a selection from the sound layer of the exhibition. This compact disc is on sale exclusively in the musea! Kees Wieringa earlier made compositions for theatre, film and television. He is also known as a pianist with music from, among others, Simeon ten Holt. Kees Wieringa is considered to be a specialist in the repertoire of the beginning of the twentieth century. Up till now, he has published many compact discs featuring music from e.g. Daniël Ruyneman, Jakob van Domselaer, Jacob ter Veldhuis and Simeon ten Holt. He also works as a radio- and televisionmaker.
