Pablo Picasso
Artist It takes a long time to become young.
Pablo Picasso
was born in Malaga, Spain on October 25, 1881. By the age of 15 he was already technically skilled in drawing and painting. Picasso's highly original style continuously evolved throughout his long career, expanding the definition of what art could be. In addition to painting, he would explore sculpture, ceramics and other art forms, and become one of the most influential artists of the 1900s. Paintings from Picasso's blue period (1901-1904) depict forlorn people painted in shades of blue, evoking feelings of sadness and alienation. After his move to Paris in 1904, Picasso's rose period paintings took on a warmer more optimistic mood. In 1907 he and French painter George Braque pioneered cubism By 1912 Picasso was incorporating newspaper print, postage stamps and other materials into his paintings. This style is called collage . By the late 1920s he turned toward a flat, cubist-related style. During the 1930s his paintings became militant and political. Guernica (1937), a masterpiece from this period depicts the terror of the bombing of the town of Guernica during the Spanish civil war. Following World War II, Picasso's work became less political and more gentle. He spent the remaining years of his life in an exploration various historical styles of art, making several reproductions of the work of earlier artists.

"I do not search, I find."
Rarely in the annals of history an artist becomes one of the "figures of the century." But this is the case of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. His name, his versatility, his art personify the 20th century, and is considered as the zenith of modern art.

In his life time, Picasso had already become a synonym for "modern art." Today he still considered a myth, a legend of the arts; his poise as an artist is intricate and vibrant in a myriad of facets. Many persons played important roles in his life and have left us with testimonies. The abundance of existing documents about his life and his art, but above all to his individuality, allow us to access his art. Nevertheless, the formidable biographies are only a drop of information compared to the torrent of torrent of opinions, critiques, findings, and books about his arts for decades.
Picasso was born in Malaga on October 20th of 1881. Son of a painter and master drafter, Picasso was trained so that by the age of nine he began to paint and sketch. Under the watchful eye of his father, and through his encouragement, Picasso followed rigorous training in La Coruña, Barcelona , and Madrid , so much so that by the age of 15, he had become a master drafter as well, and his art ready to appear in galleries, and expositions.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is one of the great artists of the 20th century. The Centre Georges Pompidou
The reception of Picasso's sculptures began late because Picasso himself had made them one of the best kept art secrets of the 20th century. Until the 1960s, he hid his sculptures away from the public and, until his death in 1973, almost all of the originals remained with him. From his cubistic assemblages and the iron sculptures, which he made from 1929 onwards, almost none was present in museums or collections. At Picasso's first retrospective in the Galéries Petit in 1932, only seven sculptures were exposed. It was not until the important exhibitions in Paris, London and New York of 1966 and 1967 that he released them into the public space.

    http://utenti.lycos.it/TRIBENET/picasso_pablo.htm
