Stav is from Asfour's first foal crop and was seen and purchased as a weanling. Stav achieved some consistent results in the show ring, including an Class A Championship which indicated an exciting beginning. The decision to let him mature and then return him to the showring was abandoned due to a major colic surgery. Lorraine Kaufmann remembers him: "I also have an indelible memory of Stav. I saw him as a day old foal, prancing alongside Safanad out in the paddock. Marion Richmond was so excited as he was Asfour's first foal, and he well and truly lived up to expectation. Solomon Garlitz The story is told of a Solomon Garlet (spelled thus) who went West and changed the spelling of his name. It is said that he left in the night and would not talk about it. Family lore has it that he was an Oklahoma "Sooner". While the story is attributed to Solomon son of Henry and Magdalena Garlitz, we know he died in 1846, forty three years before the Sooners of April, 1889. Perhaps the story is of his son Solomon Gregory. A more precise history of Solomon Garlitz is offered by descendent Charles B.
