Antony Jordon , who played only on special teams last year, is the man to beat. Jordan has good speed and perhaps more ability to disrupt plays than Crockett, who might have been better suited for middle linebacker. But Jordan does not have Crockett's experience. He started three games as a rookie for Indianapolis in 1998 and has not started since then.

Hispanic influence rises in NFL The 2000 U.S. Census showed that Hispanics have pulled even with African-Americans as the largest minority in the country. Similarly, the number of Latino NFL fans also continues to rise. This season ESPN will offer all of its NFL Sunday Night Football games in Spanish through ESPN Deportes, joining ABC, CBS and FOX in offering a variety of Spanish-language coverage. On the field, Latinos continue to make a significant impact throughout the league. In San Francisco, quarterback JEFF GARCIA has emerged as one of the NFL's top quarterbacks. An All-Star last season, Garcia is the spokesman for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund in San Francisco. Posters of Jeff with dad, BOB, a former athletic director and coach at Gavilan College, can be found throughout the Bay Area promoting the fund. "I want to be someone that can represent Latinos on a public scale," says Garcia, whose paternal grandparents came to the United States from San Juan de Los Lagos in Jalisco, Mexico and settled in the central California town of Gilroy. "My best friends growing up were Mexican and I am very proud of my Latino heritage." Another Hispanic star making a mark in the NFL is Tampa Bay kicker MARTIN GRAMATICA. A native of Argentina, Gramatica is one of the NFL's best kickers and was selected for his first Pro Bowl last season. Martin will be joined by his younger brother BILL in the league this season, as the kicker from South Florida was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
