Complete List of 2002 Virginia Signees By HANK KURZ Jr. AP Sports Writer Al Groh's first season as football coach at Virginia ended with a 5-7 record and mixed reviews, but the former New York Jets coach is obviously doing a good job persuading high school players to be part of a Cavaliers turnaround. Groh and his staff on Wednesday pulled off one of the biggest surprises of National Signing Day, getting commitments from 26 blue-chip prospects, and wooing enough highly sought players to rate among the best classes in the country.

Williams defeats Wesleyan, 28-7
Game held on Saturday, November 4, 2000
Game Notes: Scoring 21 unanswered points in the second half to break away from a 7-7 deadlock, Williams College went on for a 28-7 victory over Wesleyan here this afternoon, setting up a Little Three showdown with Amherst (6-1) next week when the teams meet in Amherst, Mass. The winner will be the 2000 Little Three titlist as Amherst defeated Wesleyan, 9-7, two weeks ago. Williams led 7-0 in the first quarter after recovering a Wesleyan fumble at the Wesleyan 25-yard line and moving in for the score at 11:42, an eight-yard run by Fred Storz, who finished with 29 carries for 95 yards and a pair of TDs. Wesleyan dodged bullets throughout the first half, including recovering a Williams fumble at the Wesleyan three-yard line after the Ephs gained a first-and-goal at the two. Wesleyan was outgained 176-31 in the first half and had just one first down to 12 by Williams. The Cardinals tied the score, 7-7, as frosh QB Brennan Carney connected with frosh receiver Pat Moffett on a 65-yarder up the left sideline, setting up a 16-yard scoring strike between the two with 8:37 left in the third quarter. Moffett finished the game with five catches for 117 yards. Williams took the lead for good at 3:55 of the third period, marching 70 yards on 11 plays with frosh QB Jacob Moore finding receiver Matt Student (eight catches for 94 yards on the day) on the left side for a 26-yard scoring pass. Moore had entered the game just one series earlier, spelling starter Joe Reardon. Williams went 83 yards on seven plays in its next possession to go ahead 21-7 at 14:16 of the fourth quarter. A 38-yard pass to Colin Vataha got the ball into Wesleyan territory, then a 29-yarder from Moore to Colin Brooks over the outstretched arms of two Wesleyan defenders put the ball at the three-yard line. Storz found the endzone from there to finish off the march. An interception by Alexi Evridiades at the Wesleyan 28 set up the final Williams score, that a nine-yarder from Moore to Brooks with 11:55 to go. Moore ended the game completing six of nine passes, including each of his final six, for 113 yards and two scores.
