Here is a sample of Bryan's work from the 2001 bowl season.

Motor City Bowl @ Silverdome-Pontiac, MI
Toledo vs. Cincinnati

The Rockets are making their first bowl appearance since winning the Las Vegas Bowl in 1995. Tom Amstutz is looking to give the Rockets back-to-back 10 win seasons for the first time in three decades. Toledo features Chester Taylor, the MAC's second all-time leading rusher. He and quarterback Bolden give the Rockets an explosive offense. On the season Toledo outscored their opposition 34.9-25.5, while outgaining them 447.6-331.5. The Rocket running game, behind Taylor, averages 4.78 ypr, while the passing game averages 7.85 yards per pass attempt. The Rocket defense only yields 3.18 ypr and 6.61 yppa. The problem has been that they have played a very weak schedule. The only bowl participant they played was Marshall and the Thundering Herd produced 540 total yards of offense. They ran for 5.71 ypr and passed for 8.08 yppa against this Rocket defense. That lack of quality opposition may hurt them here.

Men's Soccer Falls at Virginia, 2-0 No. 6 Cavaliers top No. 10 Tar Heels in UNC's ACC opener. Sept. 22, 2001 Final Stats CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The sixth-ranked University of Virginia men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 shutout victory over the No. 10 North Carolina Tar Heels in front of a season-high 3,193 spectators at Klöckner Stadium on Saturday night. Virginia's Ryan Gibbs scored both of the Cavaliers' goals and teammate David Comfort recorded three saves in goal to help UVa post its second consecutive shutout of the season. Virginia jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 43:18 mark when Marshall Leonard threw the ball into play following a Tar Heel foul. The Cavaliers' Jacob LeBlanc gathered Leonard's throw-in and sent a cross to Gibbs who was running towards the front of the UNC goal. Gibbs chipped in a shot from seven yards out past North Carolina's Michael Ueltschey to give Virginia a one-goal lead. Gibbs' goal was the eventual game-winner. UVa took its 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

©2001 Bonesville.net Bowl Week is Here! East Carolina is Mobile and getting set for Wednesday night’s match-up with Marshall. Reports from Mobile say that practices have been going well, and this East Carolina team is putting the finishing touches on the game plan for the Thundering Herd. The team practiced in the rain on Monday. The weather really didn’t slow the squad down, and proved to be more of a nuisance then anything else. “We’ve had great weather,” said Coach Steve Logan. “This was just a little speed bump. It really didn’t bother us all that much and the weather is expected to better tomorrow and for game day.”
    Logan Has No Apologies
The Pirate coach was a little edgy when asked in Mobile about the bowl qualifications of his football team. “I’ve been at East Carolina for 13 years. I was here in 1996 when this football team beat North Carolina State
