Just For Men Haircolor Gets a Stylish and Legendary New Look
Basketball Great Walt "Clyde" Frazier Lends His Face to Makeover Just For Men Haircolor Packaging
PITTSBURGH (December 19, 2002) - Basketball hall-of-famer and sports analyst, Walt Frazier, is known for his cool and flamboyant style both on and off the court. This Spring, fans and consumers alike will be able to bring home "Clyde's" legendary look, as he will become the new model for the Natural Jet Black shade of Just For Men Mustache, Beard and Sideburn Brush-In Color Gel. Why Walt?
Walt Frazier’s sense of style and popularity among 35- to 64-year-old men made him a perfect pick to pose for the new box. “Mr. Frazier is not only one of the most successful basketball players of all-time, he is also a man that has prided himself on always looking good, staying fit and remaining youthful,” said Michael Wendroff, vice president of haircare marketing, Combe, Incorporated. “We hope that by using his image on our box, we can convince others to join the growing throng of men now using haircolor.” "Colorful" Commentary
Frazier, a long-time user of the Just For Men Natural Jet Black Mustache, Beard and Sideburn Brush-In Color Gel, is honored to be featured on the new packaging. He is even quoted on the box, using some of his infamous rhyming: "Don't look antiquated, get rejuvenated;" "The look is realistic and using it is simplistic;" "It makes me elated…gets the gray in my beard eradicated;" and "Looks cool…keeps on making the ladies drool."

Walt Frazier, or "Clyde," as many of his colleagues and fans came to know him, is one of the best professional basketball players from the late 1960s and early '70s. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Frazier left his hometown for the opportunity to play basketball at Southern Illinois University, where he led the team to the 1967 National Invitation Tournament championship. He was named the tournament's most valuable player and was also named to the Division II All-American team. That same year, Frazier was the first-round draft choice for the New York Knicks and became the first guard ever to lead the team in scoring. Just three seasons later, he helped the Knicks win their first NBA title during the last game of the series against the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring 36 points and making 19 assists. In 1973, Frazier's determination and teamwork were once again influential in securing a second NBA title for the Knicks. He was traded from the Knicks in 1977 and spent the final two seasons of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. During his impressive NBA career, Frazier was a first-team All-Star four times and was named to the NBA's all-defensive first team seven years in a row, from 1969-1975. He scored 15,581 points and made 5,040 assists in 825 regular season games. Frazier was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987 and named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players in 1996.

    Special to Page 2
Walt Frazier has seven All-Star Games, four All-League Defensive teams and two NBA titles. He's 36 points and 19 assists in Game 7 in 1970. He's the Knicks' all-time assist leader and 18.9 points a night for 13 years. He's inside, he's outside, he's on-the-run, on-the-spot and in-the-flow. Walt Frazier defined cool in the 1970s. He's all that and then some. He's "Clyde." He's full-length mink coats, velour hats and a sweet Rolls. He's shoes and belts and ties and suits all cut to perfection and dressed for success. On the court and off, Walt was, is and always will be the godfather of style, the very definition, the embodiment, the essence of cool. Forget Mike, everybody wants to be like Clyde. Page 2's Eric Neel is no different except he's got 10 Burning Questions, and he's taking lessons. Page 2: What is "cool?" Walt Frazier: Cool, for me, was just being myself. A lot of people say they think that I'm cool. I think it's mannerisms, it's an ambience. It's how you accept things. They thought I was cool because, in a game, down the stretch, there's bedlam, there's chaos, but you look at Walt Frazier and he looks like it's the beginning of the game. I was unflappable; they used to say I had a poker face, that I never showed emotion on my face. People said, "How can you do that?!" They viewed it as being cool, because they couldn't control their emotions in that same way.

1980/81 Topps Larry Bird/Magic Johnson Rookie Card
OK, OK - so Michael is considered the greatest basketball player of all time. No argument here! But who are the next best? On just about everyone's list of the 5 all time greatest players are usually these two legends. Sure, MJ's rookie card goes for over $1000. It should!! It's a commonly held opinion that the early 80's Topps basketball cards are more scarce than the 1986 Fleer cards. If this is the case, then why is the Bird/Magic RC price so low relative to Jordan's RC? When the hobby realizes this price disparity, look out - there's no telling how high this card can go!! Now is the time to pick up this card, especially in this condition. You get two for less than HALF THE PRICE of one!! This card was pulled from a pack and is graded conservatively in near mint condition.
