We have shown slow, but steady growth the last two years and I am very excited about what lies ahead." An admitted homer, Bob lists Len Bias, Bert Jones, Paul Blair, Juan Dixon and Ray Lewis as his favorite athletes. Bob lives in Glen Burnie with his longtime girlfriend Cynthia. Together, they are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Kaitlyn. "She is, by far, my greatest accomplishment. Everything else I do from here on out is gravy."

High School Sports Coach for troubled teens keeps fielding winning basketball teams At George Junior Republic kids in trouble come and go all year long, but that hasn't stopped Coach Bob McConnell from showing them how to compete Friday, March 07, 2003 By Paul Zeise, Post-Gazette Sports Writer Like the men he competes against, Bob McConnell is a high school basketball coach. George Junior Republic teammates gather at mid court before the start of their game against Slippery Rock High School. (Peter Diana, Post-Gazette) Related story: For some, remaining a Tiger beats going home But that's where the similarity ends. All the boys on his team at George Junior Republic, a private school near Grove City, have been sent there by the juvenile courts. At any given point during the season, McConnell may lose some players because they've finished their court-ordered sentences, and he may gain others who are just starting out.

... Travel Bob Simon Position: Assistant Coach Birthdate: Alma Mater: Eastern Michigan '89 Bob Simon enters his third season on the Rocket coaching staff. He is involved in all facets of the basketball program, including recruiting, on-floor coaching, scouting, individual workouts and academic support. In his two seasons, he has helped the Rockets register a combined 38-25 (.603) win-loss mark. Highlighting his stint on the UT sideline was the Rockets posting their first 20-win campaign in 20 years in 2001 and advancing to the second round of the 2001 NIT Tournament. Prior to coming to UT, Simon spent nine years (1991-2000) at Wayne State University, five as an associate head coach and three as an assistant coach for the men’s program and one as head coach for the women’s team. With the WSU women, Simon enjoyed instant success by turning around the program and guiding it to its most wins (13) in six seasons. He also led the Warriors to just their second conference tournament appearance in school history. Simon was instrumental in helping WSU’s men post eight straight winning seasons, including a trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 1993. The Warriors also made three appearances in the NCAA Division II regional finals, three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and three GLIAC Tournament titles. He also helped WSU to final NCAA Division II rankings of 13th (1992), 10th (1994) and sixth (1999), as well as a school-record 25 wins in 1994 and 1999. The 1994 squad also recorded a school-record 17-game winning streak. Simon’s first recruit at WSU was Tony Goins, a John Glenn High School (Westland, MI) product who is WSU’s all-time leading scorer and earned Division II All-America and GLIAC Player of the Year ahonors as a senior. Goins is currently playing professionally in Spain.

    http://libarts.wsu.edu/philo/faculty-staff/holbrook new/Fallacy Lecture new.htm
    FALLACIES LECTURE
A Fallacy is a mistake in reasoning. The most common reason for mistakes in reasoning is allowing the emotions to affect the reasoning process. That is not to say that we should not be emotional. The emotions can provide us with premises, for example, "I love Bob," which with the premise "If I love Bob then I ought not to eat his cookies" yields the conclusion "I ought not eat his cookies." What I am saying is that once you've gotten to the reasoning process, it ought to be as cold and calculating as solving a mathematical formula. For example, to reason "Well, Bob probably won't notice," when you know he probably will notice is to commit the fallacy of wishful thinking Be careful to distinguish the fallacy of ambiguity from the fallacy of equivocation. In the latter, both senses of the word or phrase appear in the argument (or are implicit). In the former, confusion is caused by a word or phrase that is imprecise or can be interpreted in different ways. For example, once I was at a social gathering and someone introduced me to Carolyn, the mother of a three year old who is a graduate student in Philosophy. If I draw the conclusion "Wow! I sure would like to meet the kid!" I've committed the fallacy of ambiguity or, perhaps, the person making the introduction has induced me to commit the fallacy. To argue "The Bible parts are wood, then it follows that the cabin is wood. But not all composition arguments are valid. For example, "I am made up, ultimately, of basic atomic material (protons, neutrons, electrons...) and basic atomic material was formed in the big bang! billions of years ago, therefore, I am really, really, old!" is an example of the composition fallacy. Sting is way off when he observes "Russian families care for their children and (implicitly) are non-threatening and (implicitly) the Soviet Union is made up of Russian families, and therefore (implicitly) the Soviet Union is non-threatening." From that all the parts of a nation are non-threatening, it does not necessarily follow that the nation taken together is non-threatening. Nazi families cared for their children, too! So, Sting also commits the fallacy of composition.

ESPN.com ESPN.com asked what you thought of Bob Knight's firing. You responded with more than 3,000 e-mails in less than three hours. Among your thoughts: INSIDE THE PROGRAM I was lucky enough to be a student manager for coach Knight from 1995-1999. I am now the video coordinator at the University of California at Berkeley. Studying under Coach Knight for four years was the best learning experience about life that anyone could ever have. I am the person that I am today because of coach Knight ... There is a former (Indiana) manager working at Duke, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, UTEP, the Detroit Pistons, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the New Jersey Nets. Each one of us would not have had a chance to work in this dream profession of basketball if it were not for the unbelievable respect around America for coach Knight. Under coach Knight's leadership, I learned three of his most important characteristics: Loyalty, discipline, and integrity. In an age where loyalty is displayed in words not actions, coach Knight exemplified loyalty to everyone who was associated and remained loyal to him.

The Doctor is In Daniel P. Finney I panicked. I'd done my laundry. My boxers and Gold Toe socks were folded. My mostly blue T-shirt selection was hung on wire hangers in the closet. But one item, a particular favorite, was missing. My Drake women's basketball sweatshirt was absent. I practically tore my Herriott Residence Hall room to shreds searching for the sweatshirt. I'd bought it after the women's team won the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in 1995. Whenever I wore the sweatshirt, it reminded me of the wonderful times I had covering Coach Lisa Bluder and her bright, smiling and shining basketball team. Now it was gone. As a last ditch effort, I called home. Joyce said, "Yeah, it's here. You left it in the basement Friday night. I figured you'd be calling sooner or later." Ah, good old Bob and Joyce. They're always there when I need them. They're just like my parents. Only they're not. Yet, they've made my life normal in almost every way. Even more normal than when my first set of parents - G. Willard and Kathryn G. Finney - were still around. Losing my sweatshirt is a mundane, typical problem that everyone has now and then. In short, it's a normal problem. But there was a time in my life when I didn't have normal problems. I had hyper-normal problems. By the time I was 15 years old, both my parents were dead, I'd moved three times, changed school districts three times, lived with a family of complete strangers and considered suicide on more than one occasion.

Girls JV Basketball had their tournament in Antwerp. After loosing in the cross over from Luxembourg they got Third Place beating Amsterdam in the game for Third-Fourth place.
Boys JV Basketball did not loose a game this season and also did not loose a single game in the NECIS Tournament.
